An objective view the reconstructed media creates stereotypes veiled women with a negative stigma as the wife of a terrorist, exclusive, bigoted and even hypocritical. This study aims to describe verbal and nonverbal communication veiled women with other veiled women, with their family (husband and children) as well as with the general public. This study utilized qualitative method with phenomenological perspective. The research was conducted in several communities of veiled women in 4 villages in Lamongan and Gresik. Result of this study shows that veiled women used some Arabic terms while communicating in their own community. They also bear certain labeling which embedded by the people around them. This becomes a part of their verbal communication which they establish with their own community. Whilst, their nonverbal communication shown in form of body language, physical appearance, paralanguage, colors, spatial orientation, personal distance and artifacts.

This study identified the level of nonverbal communication knowledge (KNV) among Friday sermon orators. Friday sermons are observed to be an important medium at conveying important messages and reminders to the Muslim community, which is held every Friday. The technique of delivering a sermon will have a great impact on the congregation who listens to the sermon. This is becasue an impactful verbal delivery which is accompanied nonverbally, will provide an optimal impact to its audience. The combination of nonverbal and verbal communication will also increase the effectiveness of the sermon. This is because KNV is an important factor in attracting the audience’s interest and attention at continuing to listen to the sermon while receiving the conveyed message. Therefore, KNV is essentially needed by an effective sermon orator. This study is a quantitative research, which used a survey method involving 82 orators who responded to the questionnaire in order to find out the level of their on KNV. The findings show that the KNV among these Friday sermon orators who are based in Hulu Terengganu District achieve an overall mean which is at a moderately high level of 3.42, namely physical appearance 3.72, limb movement 3.28, facial expression 3.28, occultic 3.09, vocal 3.52 and chronological 3.60. Findings from this study is expected to encourage sermon orators to pay more attention on KNV during sermon delivery so that important messages can be effectively conveyed to the Muslim community and achieve the desired goals.

Nonverbal communication can specify the psychosomatic behavior of people involved in interpersonal communication. Many researchers have specified the importance of gesture intimation. In the paper, we shall apply the previously used computer vision hardware and Machine Learning techniques for capturing the postures students undergoing examination in the classroom atmosphere. The main       intention is to classify the people who involved in misbehavior such as copying, prompting answers, sharing the answer scripts and any other such practices. Current situation prevailing is though a physical monitor, invigilator is available in the exam hall the students     attempt to misbehave in various ways mentioned above. We discuss about the techniques to be employed to get an analysis of the       behavior of each student involved in exam.

The object of research is the communication features of contemporary art. The aim is to reveal these features based on a review of the literature. The paper discusses the concept of communication in contemporary art; describes the characteristics of contemporary art as a medium; defines communication models in contemporary art. Communication and its features are manifested in many fields, one of which is art. To discuss the concept of communication in contemporary art, the levels of verbal and nonverbal communication are distinguished. Image forms, colours, lighting, lines, motifs, body language, sound, as well as the written or unwritten language of verbal communication about a work of art, can serve to recognise the communicative properties of a work of art. Types of intrapersonal and public and mass communication are applied, communication process models are based.

This research purposes to investigate the types of nonverbal communication used by an autism child during his activity in Pusat Layanan Autis Jati Kersa and home, and to describe the meanings of those nonverbal communication. Nonverbal communication is a communication form that delivers the message without word, written or spoken, but uses body language including facial expression, gesture, posture, eye contact, touching, clothing, space, and paralanguage. Autism is developmental disorder especially in the brain that causes autism people are difficult to communicate and interact. The research employed a qualitative method to collect and analyze the data. This research involved an autism child in low function level. The data were collected through observation and interview. The result of this research shows that an autism child uses several nonverbal communication types such as body movement; gesture, posture, eye contact, and facial expression; paralanguage; and personal presentation; touching (haptics) as well. Then, the meanings of nonverbal communication used by the autism child are various. Each nonverbal communication used by him has its own meaning.Keywords: communication, nonverbal communication, autism

Communication is done not only by words but also by non verbal activity that has been dealt. The farmers of Kreueng Tinggai, Samatiga, Aceh Barat have been done non verbal communication after ritual “kanuri blang”. This study used qualitative method, where the source of data were taken from observation, deep interview, and focus group dissussion (FGD). Non verbal communication used is flag. When the white flag waves is means that it is sowing time, and when the green flag waves, it is planting time. This study aims to determine the experience of care giver communication with multiple disability children in the Sayap Ibu Bintaro Foundation; (1) care giver motives in the Sayap Ibu Bintaro Foundation; (2) care giver's self-meaning at the Sayap Ibu Bintaro Foundation; (3) use of care giver verbal and non verbal communication with multiple disability children. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and uses symbolic interactionalism theory. Data collection techniques used in this study were in-depth interviews and observations. The results of this research show that (1) a person's motives for being a care giver are divided into causes, namely: (a) getting invitations from others to cause empathy; and (b) compassion. the motives of the goal are (a) gain experience, and (b) develop abilities. (2) The meaning of self-companion is to be a parent for a child with multiple disabilities. (3) While the use of verbal communication that is often used by care giver is to provide motivation and provide advice to children with multiple disabilities, and the use of non-verbal communication used by care giver with making gestures or body language while communicating with multiple disability children in the Sayap Ibu Bintaro Foundation (YSIB)

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to reveal how the quality of education in this Islamic boarding school is, particularly related to education facilities, curriculum and strategies of education quality improve­ments. This study used the qualitative method. Findings of this study are: first, education infrastructure and facilities are relatively complete and adequate, which are supported by the atmosphere of the Islamic boarding school that is full of simplicity and modesty by habituation in implementing clean and healthy lifestyle. Second, the tafaqquh fi-al din (understanding of religion)-based curriculum compiled by the Islamic boarding school occupies the same degree (equal) to the curriculum prepared by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, so that both tafaqquh fi-al din (understanding of religion) studies and general studi­es have high electability, which is able to increase the quality of education and also generates interest and motivation of the people (parents) to put their children to the Islamic boarding school. Third, education in the Islamic boarding school has a strong independency because it is supported by substantial financial resources.AbstrakTujuan tulisan ini untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana mutu pendidikan di pondok pesantren ini, khususnya berkaitan dengan sarana pendidikan, kurikulum dan sterategi peningkatan mutu pendidik­an. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil temuan studi ini adalah: Pertama, sarana dan fasilitas pendidikan relatif lengkap dan memadai, ini didukung oleh suasana kehidupan pondok pesan­tren yang penuh kesederhanaan dan kebersahajaan dengan pembiasaan menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan sehat. Kedua, kurikulum yang berbasis tafaqquh fi-al din yang disusun oleh pondok pesantren ini menempati derajat yang sama (equal) dengan kurikulum yang disusun Kementerian Agama, sehinga baik kajian tafaqquh fi al-din maupun pelajaran umum memiliki electabilitas yang tinggi, hal ini mampu meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dan sekaligus membangkitkan animo dan motivasi masyarakat (orangtua) untuk memasukkan anaknya ke pesantren ini. Ketiga, penyelenggaraan pendidikan di pon­dok pesantren ini memiliki kemandirian yang kuat, karena didukung oleh sumber dana yang besar.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji perbandingan kepercayaan masyarakat Talagadi Majalengka dan masyarakat Nagoya di Jepang. Kepercayaan yang dimaksud dalampenelitian ini adalah kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu atau pamali dankepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakat tersebut.Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode deskripstif kualitatif. Dalam memupudata digunakan metode lapangan karena peneliti terjun langsung ke masyarakat. Disamping itu, digunakan pula metode survey melalui penyebaran daftar kuesioner. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu ataupamali pada masyarakat Talaga dan Nagoya meliputi kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh manusia.Adapun kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakattersebut berkaitan dengan binatang, benda, dan kegiatan manusia. Sampai saat ini baikmasyarakat Talaga maupun Nagoya masih memegang teguh kepercayaan tersebut.Kata kunci: kepercayaan, Talaga, Nagoya, deskriptif kualitatif, komparasi budaya.AbstractThe aim of this research is to review the comparison of belief between the society ofTalaga in Majalengka and the society of Nagoya in Japan. The intended belief on this study isthe one related with a taboo or pamali, and the belief correlated to luck on both societies. Inachieving the goal, this research uses a descriptive qualitative method. To get the data, thewriter uses a field method that he (/she) directly involves with the people. On the other hand,the writer also uses a survey method by distributing questioners. The result shows that the beliefcorrelated with the taboo or pamali of Talaga and Nagoya societies covers the activities doneby human. Also with the belief related to luck of both societies corresponds to animals, things,and human’s activities. Until now, either Talaga society or Nagoya’s still keeps those beliefs.Keyword: belief, Talaga, Nagoya, descriptive qualitative, cultural comparison.
