This doctoral study investigated the effect of animated agents with verbal audio in WBI on mathematics achievement and attitudes toward mathematics and computers using a pretest-posttest control group design model among eighty-one college students who enrolled in Pre-Calculus courses a at doctoral/research-extensive university. It verified quantitatively that the presence of animated agents with verbal audio in WBI can improve students' mathematics achievement and attitudes toward mathematics, but not their attitudes toward computers. In particularly, students in the experimental group practice effect improved, but not their application effect. In addition, this study verified that there exist a positive association between a student's attitude toward mathematics and his attitude towards computers and vice versa, and there exist a positive association between a student's satisfaction with WBI and her attitudes toward mathematics. Designers and developers of WBI can use these findings to better design, develop, and implement a web-based tutorial that promotes positive attitudes toward learning and long-term mathematics achievement in the postsecondary mathematics arena.

The relationship between perceived capacity to elaborate a counterattitudinal position and change in attitude resulting from counterattitudinal advocacy was examined in terms of self-attribution of attitude. Female participants (entering college freshmen) individually conveyed positive impressions of a boring task to a female accomplice, in a posttest-only control group design. Capacity for counterattitudinal advocacy was manipulated by the apparent duration (6 or 1½ min.) of the 3-min. advocacies. Participants in the 6-min. condition (high capacity) evidenced significantly more positive attitudes on posttest than did those in the 1½-min. condition (low capacity) ( F1,22 = 7.83, p < .01). Both experimental conditions yielded more change in attitude than the no-advocacy control group. These results are interpreted as supporting an “ability route” to self-attribution of attitude.

Sex differences in the positive association between attitudes toward mathematics and attitudes toward computers were examined in 1 018 Grade 8 students and 800 Grade 12 students. The female students were more likely than the male students to associate negative attitudes toward mathematics with negative attitudes toward computers. Participation in an eighth-grade mathematics course with a computer component was associated with positive attitudes toward computers for males but not for females. The integration of computer experiences with mathematics instruction may require some caution to yield more positive attitudes toward mathematics and computers from secondary school females.

Mathematics as a discipline effectively learned when teacher-assisted instruction is present has now aided with computer-assisted learning. This study assessed the effectiveness of Genyo-E-Learning in Online Distance Learning through a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. Pupils have matched accordingly with their Mathematics grades in the third-grading period. Pretest underwent KR20 and Levene’s Test of Homogeneity of Variance to see if the covariate is reliable and groups are at the same level. As shown in the Schema of Classes, the researcher designed two lesson outlines with different structures for the intact groups covering the topic: Circumference of a Circle. The lesson for the Control Group was delivered through the Conventional Virtual Lecture Method, while the Experimental Group had Genyo E-Learning as an aid for transmission. The post-test scores were the basis as to what group the significant difference favors. Post-tests were treated with ANCOVA at a 0.05 significance level. The researcher used the National Achievement Test Descriptive Equivalence Table to determine groups' mastery level and used the Evaluation Form on the Excerpts of Online Classes to evaluate the degree of pupils' interactivity toward the lesson. Mathematics Achievement of pupils taught with Genyo E-Learning is greater than that of Conventional Virtual Lecture Method teaching and rated Very Satisfactorily and Satisfactorily respectively based on Interactivity Evaluation. More pupils from the Experimental Group achieved Mastered Level based on the Achievement Level Scale. Genyo E-Learning Systems could improve Mathematics Achievement in the New Normal Education System.

Data from the Second International Mathematics Study indicated that the very high mathematics achievement of Japanese students was accompanied by a very low attitude toward mathematics in the distribution of the scores of the educational systems (Travers & Westbury, 1989). This perplexing result is worrisome for mathematics teachers in Japan, because both high achievement in mathematics and the development of positive attitudes toward mathematics are important goals of teaching mathematics. Thus, it is urgent to make teachers aware of the relationship between achievement and attitude.

This study determined the effect of constructivist method in students’ mathematics achievement. It sought to answer the influence of teaching methods in students’ achievement scores in large classes in terms of knowledge, comprehension, application, and analysis questions. A pretest- posttest quasi-experimental control group design was used. The experimental group was exposed to constructivist method while the control group to traditional method. To determine the influence of the methods in the students’ achievement scores, the one way ANCOVA was used. The researcher handled the two classes. Results showed that there was a significant difference in the students’ achievement scores in terms of knowledge, comprehension; application and analysis questions. The control group performed better than the experimental group in all levels of questions. Constructivist approach is ineffective in large classes while the lecture method is an appropriate teaching approach for large classes.   Keywords - constructivism, large classes, mathematics achievement, experimental

This study examined the impact of the Augmented reality (AR) use on Jordanian 6th grade students' attitudes towards science and their learning outcomes. A quantitative quasi-experimental study is preceded with the Pre-test and Post-test control group design model, where 24 students who identified to have special needs participated in this study and were randomly divided into two groups. Two groups, control group 12 students were taught conventionally, and 12 students were designated as the experimental group, they used the AR technology for four weeks. The two scales used in this research were reliable and validated. The results show significant results for the AR technology in enhancing student learning outcomes. Additionally, results supported that AR technology has the potential to enhance students with learning disabilities positive attitudes. The result shows that AR technology helped students in promoting positive attitudes towards students and enhance students learning outcomes. EFEKTIVITAS POGIL DENGAN LABORATORIUM VIRTUAL DALAM PROSES MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN DAN SIKAP ILMU PENGETAHUAN: KONSEP MOTION MOTION SIMPLE HARMONIC AbstractSimple harmonic motion is a concept that often involve complex and difficult equations, so that students can’t construct knowledge of the concept. This research applies POGIL with a virtual laboratory, where students are encouraged to construct the concept and emphasize collaborative learning with different roles. Virtual laboratory allows students to explore and establish students’ science process skills and attitude. This study used a quasi experiment with nonequivalent control group design. Therefore, this study has add to the practical knowledge to develop science process skills and establish a positive attitudes of students toward science.
