The air pollution in the garbage dump gave the bad effect for the environmental health , NH3, H2S and the other polluted gases were the causes of air pollution that could give the bad effect for health, especially respiratory disorders. The garbage dump of bukit pinang was located in samarinda and still used open dumping method that could cause environmental pollution. Research design used cross sectional approach. The sample of NH3 and H2S was taken at 3 points and there were 34 respondents that were chosen using purposive sampling. Data collection included in the measurement of NH3 and H2S, interview, and observation of respiratory disorders. Data analysis used t-independent test with 95% of confidence level.Result of the study showed that the concentration of NH3 and H2S at garbage dump of Bukit Pinang at sample points I, II, and III was still under quality standard. Result of T - Independent showed that there was relationship among concentration of NH3 (ρ-value= 0,005), concentration H2S (ρ-value=0,042), exposure period of NH3 and H2S (ρ-value=0,000), and Risk Quotient NH3 (ρ-value=0,000), H2S (ρ-value=0,000) with the respiratory disorders of the people around the garbage dump of  bukit pinang. Result of Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no relationship between exposure frequency of NH3 and H2S (ρ-value=0,284) with the respiratory disorders of the people around the garbage dump of bukit pinang

Monetary policy, in general, refers to those steps taken by the Central Bank to achieve such broader objectives of the economy as growth, employment, external balance and price stability through changes in the money supply, interest rates and credit policies. The money supply thus created by the Central Bank should be in response to the changes in key macroeconomic target variables such as GNP, balance of payments, inflation, internal debt and unemployment. Indeed, a properly estimated monetary policy reaction function can provide useful information regarding such matters as to whether the Central Bank, in fact, has been systematically accommodating to the changes in the target variables. The reaction function can also provide insight into the question as to what should be the relevant indicators of the monetary policy. In addition, as argued by Havrilesky (1967), it may also play a crucial role in the formulation of long-term monetary policy strategy. The other important consideration in the development of a monetary policy reaction function pertains to the endogeneity of the monetary policy. As pointed out by Goldfeld and Blinder (1972), if a policy variable responds to the lagged (or expected) target values, then considering such a policy variable as exogenous would not only introduce the problem of misspecification but will also produce serious biases in the parameters estimated from those models. In particular, if the monetary policy variable happens to be strongly influenced by target variables, then the standard result of the relative effectiveness of the monetary policy vis-a-vis fiscal policy can be questionable on the grounds of reverse causation problem.

A standard result in topological dynamics is the existence of minimal subsystem. It is a direct consequence of Zorn's lemma: given a compact topological space X with a map f: X→X, the set of compact non empty subspaces K of X such that f(K) ⊆ K ordered by inclusion is inductive, and hence has minimal elements. It is natural to ask for a point-free (or formal) formulation of this statement. In a previous work [3], we gave such a formulation for a quite special instance of this statement, which is used in proving a purely combinatorial theorem (van de Waerden's theorem on arithmetical progression).In this paper, we extend our analysis to the case where X is a boolean space, that is compact totally disconnected. In such a case, we give a point-free formulation of the existence of a minimal subspace for any continuous map f: X→X. We show that such minimal subspaces can be described as points of a suitable formal topology, and the “existence” of such points become the problem of the consistency of the theory describing a generic point of this space. We show the consistency of this theory by building effectively and algebraically a topological model. As an application, we get a new, purely algebraic proof, of the minimal property of [3]. We show then in detail how this property can be used to give a proof of (a special case of) van der Waerden's theorem on arithmetical progression, that is “similar in structure” to the topological proof [6, 8], but which uses a simple algebraic remark (Proposition 1) instead of Zorn's lemma. A last section tries to place this work in a wider context, as a reformulation of Hilbert's method of introduction/elimination of ideal elements.

An improved derivation is given of the macroscopic electrodynamic equations for dielectric solids of finite size composed of molecules with a given polarizability, α = α(ω), interacting only via the retarded dipole–dipole coupling. We present a derivation of the constitutive relations for both crystalline and amorphous solids, which is not based on an expansion in powers of α, and in which the radiative reaction forces are carefully taken into account. The spatially varying density and pair correlation function of an amorphous solid, defined with the help of spatial averaging procedures, are shown to satisfy an integral 'counting' relation, which puts a condition on any physically consistent model of an amorphous solid. In the absence of dissipative damping, a medium is shown to be characterized by a real, in general spatially varying, dielectric constant. For solids of uniform density, crystalline or amorphous, we obtain the standard result that inside such a medium light propagates without scattering. For amorphous solids with varying density, the theory forms the basis of the macroscopic theory of light scattering from density in-homogeneities.

There is common agreement on price inflation stabilization being one of the objectives of monetary policy. But, in an open economy, two alternative measures of inflation coexist: domestic inflation and consumer price inflation. Which of the two should be the target variable? Most of the new open economy macroeconomics (NOEM) literature suggests that the monetary authority should stabilize domestic inflation. This is in sharp contrast with the practice of many inflation-targeting central banks that are using consumer price index (CPI) inflation as target variable. The paper shows that the standard result in the NOEM literature is derived under the simplifying assumption of flexible wages. The inclusion of sticky wages in an otherwise standard small open economy model is shown to rationalize CPI inflation targeting. This conclusion is robust to changes in key parameters, including the trade elasticity.

We present an analytic calculation of the paramagnetic and diamagnetic contributions to the one-loop effective action in the SU(2) Higgs model. The paramagnetic contribution is produced by the gauge boson, while the diamagnetic contribution is produced by the gauge boson and the ghost. In the limit, where these particles are massless, the standard result of - 12 for the ratio of the paramagnetic to the diamagnetic contribution is reproduced. If the mass of the gauge boson and the ghost become much larger than the inverse vacuum correlation lengths of the Yang–Mills vacuum, the value of the ratio goes to - 8 . We also find that the same values of the ratio are achieved in the deconfinement phase of the model, up to the temperatures at which the dimensional reduction occurs.

The standard Yule-Walker equations, as they are known for an autoregression, are generalized to involve the moments of a moving-average process indexed on any number of dimensions. Once observations become available, new moments estimators are set to imitate the theoretical equations. These estimators are not only consistent but also asymptotically normal for any number of indexes. Their variance matrix resembles a standard result from maximum Gaussian likelihood estimation. A simulation study is added to conclude on their efficiency.

Participants read aloud nonword letter strings, one at a time, which varied in the number of letters. The standard result is observed in two experiments; the time to begin reading aloud increases as letter length increases. This result is standardly understood as reflecting the operation of a serial, left-to-right translation of graphemes into phonemes. The novel result is that the effect of letter length is statistically eliminated by a small number of repetitions. This elimination suggests that these nonwords are no longer always being read aloud via a serial left-to-right sublexical process. Instead, the data are taken as evidence that new orthographic and phonological lexical entries have been created for these nonwords and are now read at least sometimes by recourse to the lexical route. Experiment 2 replicates the interaction between nonword letter length and repetition observed in Experiment 1 and also demonstrates that this interaction is not seen when participants merely classify the string as appearing in upper or lower case. Implications for existing dual-route models of reading aloud and Share's self-teaching hypothesis are discussed.

In this paper, we discuss that the Painlevé coordinates are not required to study tunneling effect from black holes. If the Schwarzschild coordinates are used to calculate the tunneling rate by the Parikh's method, the tunneling rate is half of the standard result.
