BACKGROUND: Dentistry is one of the highest risk occupations that face COVID-19, especially in countries that are severely affected by the pandemic, such as Indonesia. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the study was to determine factors influencing job satisfaction among dentists during the new normal of COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia by utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. METHODS: A total of 310 Indonesian dentists voluntary completed an online questionnaire, which contained 58 questions. Several latent variables such as perceived severity of COVID-19, staff cooperation and management commitment, personal protective equipment, job stress, working hours, income, and overall job satisfaction were analyzed simultaneously. RESULTS: SEM revealed perceived severity of COVID-19 had significant effects on job stress (β:0.394, p = 0.025) and the utilization of personal protective equipment (β:0.757, p = 0.001). Subsequently, job stress (β:–0.286, p = 0.001), working hours (β:0.278, p = 0.018), income (β:0.273, p = 0.003), personal protective equipment (β:0.145, p = 0.038), and staff cooperation & management commitment (β:0.091, p = 0.002) were found to have significant effects on overall job satisfaction. In addition, management & staff cooperation was found to have a significant association with job stress reduction (β:–0.319, p = 0.003) which subsequently led to higher satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: The current study is one of the first that analyzed job satisfaction among dentists in Indonesia during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The integrated latent variables can be applied and extended to evaluate job satisfaction among dentists during the COVID-19 pandemic in other countries. Finally, this study contributed as a theoretical foundation for policymakers to enhance the job satisfaction of dentists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Research was conducted to explore job satisfaction of employee in PT. Holcim Indonesia,Tbk.Thisstudycoveredforpermanentemployee.Thepurposeofthispaper is to investigate whether employee promotion, upward downward communication and work environment influences the job satisfaction of PT. Holcim Indonesia, Tbk. This paper is based on a questionnaire survey of all employee position (manager and non-manager) in all plant of Indonesia with a random sample of 225 employees, and the method of analysis used is the frequency distribution and path analysis. The Data was collected through a self-administered survey questionnaire. The questionnaire is adopted from a previous validated survey. The data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with Smart PLS. The results showed that among seven hypotheses tested, all variables have the positive influence, however, there are two latent variables which have direct significant associations, while the others have not. A variable which have indirect significant associations, while the other one has not. WorkEnvironmenthavedirectpositiveandsignificantinfluenceonthejobsatisfaction, while employee promotion and upward downward communication have a direct positiveinfluencebutnotsignificant.Otherwise, both employee promotion and upward downward communication have an indirect positive influence on the job satisfaction with intervening variable (work environment). The study provides ways to increase the job satisfaction of all employees so that they will be able to produce reliable company performances.

Purpose – Due to the divergent conclusions about the effects of interpersonal trust on job satisfaction, the study aims to look more deeply into this relationship by introducing job stress as a mediator variable. Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses structural equation modeling to analyze the opinions of 6,407 Spanish employees, taken from the 2008 Quality of Working Life Survey carried out by the Spanish Ministry of Labor and Immigration. Findings – The findings show that interpersonal trust has a positive effect on job satisfaction, and that job stress partially mediates this relationship. Furthermore, interpersonal trust is negatively related to job stress, which in turn is negatively related to job satisfaction. Research limitations/implications – Despite the pertinence and size of the database used in the study, it is very heterogeneous. Future research might delimit the database by organization size or sector. Qualitative studies may also improve our understanding of the relationships studied and enable other concepts to be included. Practical implications – Cultivating a climate of trust may provide organizations with a strategy to improve levels of mental well-being and satisfaction among their employees. Originality/value – This research explains why interpersonal trust has a positive effect on job satisfaction. The paper's conceptualization of trust implies risk assumption and low risk perception; low perception of risk is presumed to reduce job stress, and in turn, increase job satisfaction. The paper also puts forward reasons for why “excessive” interpersonal trust has been related to negative effects on job satisfaction. “Excessive” trust might infer high risk perception, which might increase job stress, and in turn decrease job satisfaction.

In Japan, there is currently a shortage of dental hygienists. The number of dental hygienists as a workforce at dental clinical practice is not sufficient. Several factors affect career retention and job satisfaction of hygienists and these factors are considered to correlate with each other to construct networks. The aim of this study was to present a structural model of job satisfaction of Japanese dental hygienists and to determine the characteristics of unmotivated hygienists. The Japan Dental Hygienists’ Association has conducted a survey on their working environments every five years since 1981. Questionnaires were sent to all members of the association (16,113) and 8932 answers were returned. The data of 3807 active dental hygienists who worked at clinics were analyzed. Items associated with job satisfaction were derived from two latent variables, namely, the intrinsic psychosocial factors for the value of the work and extrinsic employment advantage. Based on the structural equation modeling, the association of value was higher than that of advantage. Most of the hygienists wished to continue working as dental hygienists. More than 60% felt their work required a high level of expertise. The value of the profession is deeply rooted in job satisfaction, motivation, and job retention of Japanese dental hygienists. Working environments where dental hygienists make great use of their specialized skills can lead to high career retention which prevent them from taking career breaks.

The research objective was to analyze the effect of role conflict on employee job satisfaction through work stress mediation. This causality-associative research conducted at the Gianyar Regency Land Office involved 87 respondents with the sampling method using saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire, and analyzed using descriptive analysis, analysis of structural equation modeling (SEM) based on PLS. Research proves that role conflict and job stress have a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction, role conflict has a positive and significant effect on job stress and job stress is able to mediate the effect of role conflict on job satisfaction. Research proves that Gianyar Regency needs to increase employee job satisfaction, especially in increasing their PPNPN interest in carrying out their assigned work, needs to pay attention to the way employees do their work, and needs to pay attention to communication between employees and superiors. Keywords: job satisfaction, role conflict, job stress

This study investigates how outcomes of organizational culture on teacher educators (organizational commitment, job stress, self efficacy and job satisfaction) are related. A model is proposed, tested with structural equation modeling (SEM) and refined using data from 214 teacher educators working in B.Ed. colleges in Mumbai. The causal relationships among the variables considered for this study, that is, organizational culture, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, job stress and self efficacy of teacher educators, are ascertained using Path Analysis. Regression analysis proved that job satisfaction of teacher educators is directly and indirectly influenced by their organizational culture, organizational commitment, job stress and self efficacy. The direct, indirect and total effect of organizational culture on job satisfaction is more than rest of the variables. This implies that if organizational culture is more conducive, job satisfaction will be higher. However, the effect of job stress is negative which implies that higher the job stress, lesser will be the job satisfaction. The present study contributes to the development of a theory on organizational culture and its outcomes.
