The construction industry is an indispensable and important support in the national economic industry. The characteristics of the construction industry, such as long production cycle, large number of participants and various types, determine that the development of the construction industry is undoubtedly very difficult. In order to realize the rapid development of the construction industry, transformation is the inevitable development direction of the construction industry in the future, which requires the help of science and technology. With the development of science and technology, information technology and big data have been applied to all walks of life, and these are also important means to support the transformation of the construction industry. In order to achieve green development, reducing energy consumption is an inevitable measure. Energy consumption analysis and reduction can be realized by establishing energy consumption monitoring platform based on big data. The application of BIM system is an information-based energy consumption analysis method. This technology can realize the analysis and prediction of energy consumption, so as to determine the appropriate way to save energy, and even estimate the corresponding cost. It is of great significance to establish a suitable energy-saving scheme.

The four-wheeled Mecanum robot is widely used in various industries due to its maneuverability and strong load capacity, which is suitable for performing precise transportation tasks in a narrow environment. While the Mecanum wheel robot has mobility, it also consumes more energy than ordinary robots. The power consumed by the Mecanum wheel mobile robot varies enormously depending on their operating regimes and environments. Therefore, only knowing the working environment of the robot and the accurate power consumption model can we accurately predict the power consumption of the robot. In order to increase the applicable scenarios of energy consumption modeling for Mecanum wheel robots and improve the accuracy of energy consumption modeling, this paper focuses on various factors that affect the energy consumption of the Mecanum wheel robot, such as motor temperature, terrain, the center of gravity position, etc. The model is derived from the kinematic and kinetic model combined with electrical engineering and energy flow principles. The model has been simulated in MATLAB and experimentally validated with the four-wheeled Mecanum robot platform in our lab. Experimental results show that the accuracy of the model reached 95%. The results of energy consumption modeling can help robots save energy by helping them to perform rational path planning and task planning.

PurposeThe digital revolution and the use of big data (BD) in particular has important applications in the construction industry. In construction, massive amounts of heterogeneous data need to be analyzed to improve onsite efficiency. This article presents a systematic review and identifies future research directions, presenting valuable conclusions derived from rigorous bibliometric tools. The results of this study may provide guidelines for construction engineering and global policymaking to change the current low-efficiency of construction sites.Design/methodology/approachThis study identifies research trends from 1,253 peer-reviewed papers, using general statistics, keyword co-occurrence analysis, critical review, and qualitative-bibliometric techniques in two rounds of search.FindingsThe number of studies in this area rapidly increased from 2012 to 2020. A significant number of publications originated in the UK, China, the US, and Australia, and the smallest number from one of these countries is more than twice the largest number in the remaining countries. Keyword co-occurrence is divided into three clusters: BD application scenarios, emerging technology in BD, and BD management. Currently developing approaches in BD analytics include machine learning, data mining, and heuristic-optimization algorithms such as graph convolutional, recurrent neural networks and natural language processes (NLP). Studies have focused on safety management, energy reduction, and cost prediction. Blockchain integrated with BD is a promising means of managing construction contracts.Research limitations/implicationsThe study of BD is in a stage of rapid development, and this bibliometric analysis is only a part of the necessary practical analysis.Practical implicationsNational policies, temporal and spatial distribution, BD flow are interpreted, and the results of this may provide guidelines for policymakers. Overall, this work may develop the body of knowledge, producing a reference point and identifying future development.Originality/valueTo our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric review of BD in the construction industry. This study can also benefit construction practitioners by providing them a focused perspective of BD for emerging practices in the construction industry.

With the rapid development of social economy, the demand for new energy is also increasing, and then the problem of large consumption also has a negative impact on the development of the construction industry. Under the concept of green building, the design and construction units pay more attention to energy conservation and environmental protection, so they actively use photovoltaic new energy in the field of electrical energy conservation of construction projects, so as to improve people's quality of life. Starting from the principles and characteristics of building electrical energy conservation, this paper discusses the methods of building electrical energy conservation, and analyzes how to use photovoltaic new energy in the field of building electrical energy conservation, hoping to better practice the concept of energy conservation.

Under the vigorous development of global anticipatory computing in recent years, there have been numerous applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in people’s daily lives. Learning analytics of big data can assist students, teachers, and school administrators to gain new knowledge and estimate learning information; in turn, the enhanced education contributes to the rapid development of science and technology. Education is sustainable life learning, as well as the most important promoter of science and technology worldwide. In recent years, a large number of anticipatory computing applications based on AI have promoted the training professional AI talent. As a result, this study aims to design a set of interactive robot-assisted teaching for classroom setting to help students overcoming academic difficulties. Teachers, students, and robots in the classroom can interact with each other through the ARCS motivation model in programming. The proposed method can help students to develop the motivation, relevance, and confidence in learning, thus enhancing their learning effectiveness. The robot, like a teaching assistant, can help students solving problems in the classroom by answering questions and evaluating students’ answers in natural and responsive interactions. The natural interactive responses of the robot are achieved through the use of a database of emotional big data (Google facial expression comparison dataset). The robot is loaded with an emotion recognition system to assess the moods of the students through their expressions and sounds, and then offer corresponding emotional responses. The robot is able to communicate naturally with the students, thereby attracting their attention, triggering their learning motivation, and improving their learning effectiveness.

The construction industry consumes a tremendous amount of energy and resources each year in China. It is imperative to implement sustainable management in this industry in order to reduce the depletion of energy and resources. To conduct a sustainable development, this paper firstly describes the current energy consumption situation in China. The urgency for conducting sustainable management is emphasized. Afterward, evaluation standard for a green building in China is described. By using a life cycle method, specific measures which can be implemented to construct a green building are issued. It is concluded that as more and more attentions are being paid on this topic, sustainable building in China will get a rapid development in the coming years.

The digital economy assumes an increase in the role and importance of the lighting engineering science in the industrial countries. Nowadays, the development of a country is largely characterized by its “light supply” with minimum energy consumption. In modern Western Europe, for example, it is impossible to separate climate protection policies from energy policy. In the countries of the Middle East, there is a rapid development of the construction industry as many residential and public buildings are being built, and energy consumption issues are acute. The article studies the influence of the light climate of Russia and the countries of the Middle East on the development of construction lighting equipment, which enables to optimize energy consumption, create comfortable working and leisure conditions.

The rapid development of urbanization promotes the development of the construction industry greatly. Due to long life cycle of the construction projects, construction industry and other industry departments associate widely. Therefore, construction industry inevitably has a big impact on economic growth. Based on the view that science and technology (ST) is the first productive force, this paper calculates 4 kinds of embodied science and technology impacts including ST personnel, full-time equivalent research and development (R&D) personnel, ST activities’ funding and intramural expenditures of construction industry based on the developed input–output social life-cycle assessment (S-LCA) model and satellite matrix. Results show that the ST personnel, full-time equivalent R&D personnel, ST activities’ funding and intramural expenditures between 2002 and 2007 all have increased in different degrees, so as to promote the overall development of economy and science.
