In this paper, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Flow Model Test are applied to study the flow field of 200MW coal fired power plant, then the optimization program is proposed. Firstly, this paper summarizes some essential design points for SCR reactor system with different structures and different characteristic. Then, the initial flow field of the SCR reactor was simulated to find the defect by the Fluent. Then, optimize the flow fields of velocity of SCR system by adding splitters. In order to improve the mixing degree of flue gas and ammonia, Ammonia Injector Grids (AIG) was designed on the basis of the structure of SCR reactor. Considering the pressure loss and installation space were within allowed limits, a new static mixer was designed to optimize the flow fields of concentration. Through the shift of size, angle and altitude of the static mixer, this paper got a best design project. The research results can provide theoretical support and engineering guidance for the transformation and optimization of the new SCR denitration engineering reaction system.

To research guide vanes' influences on flow fields of cylinder cage powder classifier at different angles, a study of guide vanes under 3 different angles is therefore undertaken examining air flow behavior. The investigation of these flow field characteristics made use of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate the air flow in the classifier. The results indicate that smaller angles of guide vanes can increase velocity but damage the stability of flow fields, and that those larger angles will reduce the velocity.

This paper is an investigation of the flow fields generated by dual rectangular jets. Specifically, the jets examined are the same as the common slot dies used in the industrial melt blowing process. In this process, a molten polymer is attenuated by air discharging from dual jets. The velocity and turbulence of these flow fields determine the rate and quality of polymer fiber production. The flow field characteristics can be simulated quickly and efficiently using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). These CFD simulations require the use of an appropriate length scale to describe the flow field. This paper describes how these CFD simulations can be used to compare the flow fields generated by different jet geometries.

Software FLUENT is used to carry out the numerical simulation of SCR reactor for studying the influence of the guide plates. The results show that the flowing conditions of the flue gas in the SCR system have a significant influence upon the actual effect of the denitration reaction based on a 330MW coal-fired power plant. In order to improve the performance of the device, choosing the solution that can satisfy the requirement of design which σ (uneven speed value of the first section upon the catalyst) is less than 15%. In the optimal decision,σ is 14.4% and the system pressure drop is 134.43Pa. The appropriate arrangement of the guide plates has a positive impact on the denitration reaction and the workinglife of the catalyst.

AbstractThe flow field and coal combustion process in a pilot-scale iron ore pelletizing kiln is simulated using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. The objective of the work is to investigate how the thermal effects from the flame affect the flow field. As expected, the combustion process with the resulting temperature rise and volume expansion leads to an increase of the velocity in the kiln. Apart from that, the overall flow field looks similar regardless of whether combustion is present or not. The flow field though affects the combustion process by controlling the mixing rates of fuel and air, governing the flame propagation. This shows the importance of correctly predicting the flow field in this type of kiln, with a large amount of process gas circulating, in order to optimize the combustion process. The results also justify the use of down-scaled, geometrically similar, water models to investigate kiln aerodynamics in general and mixing properties in particular. Even if the heat release from the flame is neglected, valuable conclusions regarding the flow field can still be drawn.

The rheological properties of wood–plastic composites (WPCs) with different wood fiber contents were investigated using a rotational rheometer under low shear rates. The flow field information was analyzed and simulated by Ansys Polyflow software. The results showed that the WPCs with different wood fiber contents behaved as typical power-law fluids. A higher wood fiber content increased the shear thinning ability and pseudoplasticity of the WPCs. The pressure, velocity, shear rate, and viscosity distributions of the WPC during extrusion could be predicted by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) Ansys Polyflow software to explore the effects of different components on the flow field of WPCs.

For the purpose of avoiding the deficiency of the traditional construction ventilation, the ventilation of the underground main powerhouse is simulated by the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to optimize ventilation parameters. A 3D unsteady RNG k-ε model is performed for construction ventilation in the underground main powerhouse. The air-flow field and CO diffusion in the main powerhouse are simulated and analyzed. The two construction ventilation schemes are modelled for the main powerhouse. The optimized ventilation scheme is obtained by comparing the air volume and pressure distributions of the different ventilation schemes.

In the production process of large-diameter seamless steel pipes, the blank heating quality before roll piercing has an important effect on whether subsequently conforming piping is produced. Obtaining accurate pipe blank heating temperature fields is the basis for establishing and optimizing a seamless pipe heating schedule. In this paper, the thermal process in a regenerative heating furnace was studied using fluent software, and the distribution laws of the flow field in the furnace and of the temperature field around the pipe blanks were obtained and verified experimentally. The heating furnace for pipe blanks was analyzed from multiple perspectives, including overall flow field, flow fields at different cross sections, and overall temperature field. It was found that the changeover process of the regenerative heating furnace caused the temperature in the upper part of the furnace to fluctuate. Under the pipe blanks, the gas flow was relatively thin, and the flow velocity was relatively low, facilitating the formation of a viscous turbulent layer and thereby inhibiting heat exchange around the pipe blanks. The mutual interference between the gas flow from burners and the return gas from the furnace tail flue led to different flow velocity directions at different positions, and such interference was relatively evident in the middle part of the furnace. A temperature “layering” phenomenon occurred between the upper and lower parts of the pipe blanks. The study in this paper has some significant usefulness for in-depth exploration of the characteristics of regenerative heating furnaces for steel pipes.

Abstract Determining the proper installation location of flow meters is important for accurate measurement of discharge in sewer systems. In this study, flow field and flow regimes in two types of manholes under surcharged flow were investigated using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. The error in measuring the flow discharge using a Doppler flow meter (based on the velocity in a Doppler beam) was then estimated. The values of the corrective coefficient were obtained for the Doppler flow meter at different locations under various conditions. Suggestions for selecting installation positions are provided.
