Many practical photovoltaic power generation systems with higher output voltage levels rely on photovoltaic DC boost converters with high frequency and high efficiency, which performance directly affect the conversion efficiency of photovoltaic power generation systems. This paper investigates a high-frequency and high-efficiency photovoltaic DC boost converter, which adopts the Boost full-bridge isolation circuit topology with active clamps. The conductance increment method is used as the maximum power point tracking algorithm. The small signal models of its power circuit and control circuit are established to obtain the system model and analyze its stability. The simulation results indicate that the ripple coefficient of output current is less than 3%, and the ripple coefficient of output voltage is less than 5%, which meets the stability requirements.

Electric vehicle charging station have become an urgent need in many communities around the world, due to the increase of using electric vehicles over conventional vehicles. In addition, establishment of charging stations, and the grid impact of household photovoltaic power generation would reduce the feed-in tariff. These two factors are considered to propose setting up charging stations at convenience stores, which would enable the electric energy to be shared between locations. Charging stations could collect excess photovoltaic energy from homes and market it to electric vehicles. This article examines vehicle travel time, basic household energy demand, and the electricity consumption status of Okinawa city as a whole to model the operation of an electric vehicle charging station for a year. The entire program is optimized using MATLAB mixed integer linear programming (MILP) toolbox. The findings demonstrate that a profit could be achieved under the principle of ensuring the charging station’s stable service. Household photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicles are highly dependent on energy sharing between regions. The convenience store charging station service strategy suggested gives a solution to the future issues.

With the popularization of integrated circuits, MEMS, and portable electronic devices, chemical batteries have many disadvantages as the main energy supply method, such as large size, high quality, and limited energy supply life, requiring regular replacement, resulting in waste of materials, environmental pollution, and other issues. From the above reasons, energy harvesting technology plays an important role in improving the efficiency and life of electronic equipment. In order to explore the influence of the bimorph piezoelectric vibrator’s structural parameters on the power generation capacity, this paper establishes a cantilever beam rectangular bimorph piezoelectric vibrator power generation model, derives the mathematical expression of the bimorph piezoelectric vibrator power generation, and determines the parameter factors that affect the power generation effect. Using MATLAB simulation analysis to obtain the influence relationship curve of system output voltage and structural parameters, the experiment tests the influence law of output voltage and thickness ratio, width-to-length ratio, and Young’s modulus ratio; the test results are consistent with the theoretical analysis, verifying the theory and the correctness of the analysis. The results show that when the thickness ratio is 0.58 and the width-to-length ratio is 1, the power generation effect of the piezoelectric vibrator is the best to reach 14.5V; the power generation capacity of the transducer is inversely proportional to Young’s modulus ratio. This research provides a new idea for the popularization of integrated circuits, MEMS, and portable electronic devices.

This paper develops the photovoltaic bidirectional inverter (BI) operated in dual mode for the seamless power transfer to DC and AC loads. Normal photovoltaic (PV) output voltage is fed to boost converter, but in space application, boost converter is not so preferable. To overcome this, buck and boost converters are proposed in this paper. Duty cycle to this converter is provided with the help of the outcome of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. This can be implemented by using perturbation and observation method. The MPPT will operate the switch between buck and boost modes. When the output voltage of a PV array is close to the dc bus voltage, then the bidirectional inverter can fulfill both rectification and grid connected mode. To control the power flow between dc bus and ac grid, a dc distribution system is used to regulate the dc bus voltage to a convinced level. Moreover, the bidirectional inverter must fulfill grid connection (sell power) and rectification (buy power) with power factor correction (PFC) to control the power flow between dc bus and ac grid. The simulations and hardware experimental results of a 2.5 kVA circuit are presented to validate the performance of the proposed dual-mode seamless power transfer.

Investigation of the energy harvesting from deep water waves by using flexible piezoelectric eel in a controlled environment is studied. Energy harvesting potential is examined as a function of streamwise distance from the fixed cylinder and spanwise gap along with the cylinder at different wave conditions. Output voltage and eel flapping behavior are dependent on cylinder vortices caused by local wavelength and wave amplitude. Maximum energy is harvested when the eel is placed near to the surface caused by high flapping amplitude and frequency. Similarly, at greater depth low flapping amplitude is observed resulting in small output voltage. Maximum output voltages are found at the shorter wavelength and at a streamwise distance of gx = 1.25 (where gx is the ratio of spacing “S” between cylinder and eel to the diameter of cylinder “D”) for all spanwise gaps along with the cylinder and minimum voltages are calculated at a longer wavelength and streamwise distance gx = 0.75. An increase of 65% in energy harvesting is observed by switching longer wavelengths (λ) to a shorter one and changing the piezo-eel spanwise gap from deep to the shallow depth. Whereas, an increase of 31.5% was found by keeping wavelength constant and changing the spanwise gap of eel. Furthermore, it is observed that energy harvesting from the wake of a bluff body in the wavy motion of water is sensitive to the wavelength and wave height.
