During an expedition to the Raso da Catarina Ecological Station, state of Bahia, Brazil, we collected litter samples from Syagrus coronata (Mart.) Becc. containing fungal stroma. The material was morphologically identified as belonging to Diatrypella heveae Senwanna, Phookamsak & K.D. Hyde (Diatrypaceae, Xylariales); its known geographic distribution was then limited to Thailand. Diatrypella heveae was originally described on Hevea brasiliensis L. and Brahea armata S. Watson in the Chiang Rai Province, Wiang Chiang Rung District, Thailand. We report here the first occurrence of D. heveae in the Neotropics, as well as a new host, S. coronata, a palm tree endemic to the Brazilian semiarid region.

A novel species, Micropeltis goniothalamicola and a new record Scolecopeltidium menglaense were collected from Mae Fah Luang Botanical Gardens, Thailand. Our new taxon is different from other species in Micropeltis in having relatively smaller ascomata, 6–8-spored asci and 4–5-septate ascospores covering with mucilaginous sheath. Our new record, S. menglaense is the first host recorded from Jasmine grandiflorum (Oleaceae). Morphological comparison coupled with phylogenetic analysis of combined LSU and ITS sequence data provide evidence for the new species and new host record.

We present the first occurrence of Trachycephalus nigromaculatus Tschudi, 1838 in the state of Piauí. This new record is from southern Piauí and represents the northwestern known occurrence record of this species, expanding its geographic distribution.

The geographic distribution of Hatcheria macraei (Girard 1855), the Patagonian Catfish, is herein extended north of the Río Colorado headwaters, the previous northernmost record for the species. H. macraei is registered from the Río Jagüé, in the headwaters of the Río Desaguadero basin (Northwestern Argentina). Morphometric and meristic data of collected specimens are included.

The genus Xenohyla is currently composed of two species, X. truncata (Izecksohn, 1959) and Xenohyla eugenioi Caramaschi, 1998. Both species are usually found inside bromeliads; X. truncata inhabits the restingas of the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil, and X. eugenioi transitional areas between the Atlantic Forest and the Caatinga biomes in northeastern Brazil. We report the first record of X. eugenioi in the state of Sergipe, expanding the species geographic distribution by 423.4 km in a straight line in relation to its type locality, in the municipality of Maracás, south-central state of Bahia, Brazil.

We report a range extension of the Grey Woolly Monkey, Lagothrix cana, from southwestern Amazonia, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Lagothrix cana was seen in a forest fragment near the “arc of deforestation”. This new record shows the need for conservation of forests in the region to protect this endangered species.
