For many years, the Institute of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery of the Silesian University of Technology has been using a small-capacity (about 500 kWe) steam-gas power plant. Based on many yearsof experience in operation of this power plant utilizing the Velox-type gas-steam system, an idea arose to modify this type of thermal power cycle to create a combined heat and power (CHP) plant of small capacity, dedicated for distributed heat and power production of the range up to 500 kW or production process steam with high temperature. Previous thermodynamic and economic analysis of that type of CHP plant were conducted for natural gas as afuel. The new idea is use the alternative gas fuels or waste heat for Velox-type CHP plant. An adaptation of the Velox-type CHP plant for various fuelscan be done in simple way by moving the combustion chamber out from the setof heat exchangers, in similar way as it is done for HRSG. This paper presents a thermodynamic analysis of the Velox-type steam-gas cycle fired with various alternative gas fuels such as coke gas, blast furnace gas, biogas orgas from gasification. The systems are modelled in the EBSILON® Professional 13 program.

Nowadays, almost every daily activity is supported by the availability of energy, especially electricity. As the Borang 60 MW Gas Power Plant in Palembang, Indonesia emits air pollutants such as SO2, NOx, CO, and total particulate matter (total PM), an emission inventory needs to be developed. Various methods can be used in the inventory of emissions; among others are a direct method based on direct measurement and an indirect method which involves the calculation of total emissions by emission factor. This study aims to estimate the emissions from the gas power plant in Palembang using direct and indirect methods and analyze the most suitable emission factor for Indonesian conditions. The comparison between emissions measured by direct and indirect methods found that the indirect method using the emission factor of AP-42 gives more accurate results for SO2 and NOx, whereas the total emission of CO is more accurately calculated based on the indirect method using the emission factor developed by Kurokawa et al. (2013); the median value of total PM is more accurately calculated based on the indirect method using the emission factor developed by the IPCC.

To reduce the moisture content of coal gas in combined cycle power plant, a new type dehydration equipment is introduced. The curved plate dehydration equipment is composed of many pieces of stainless plate which has some collection hooks at every corner. Meanwhile, a new method on measuring moisture in gas by using superfine fibreglass is introduced. The gas-water separation efficiency was calculated by the difference of moisture content before and after the curved plate dehydration equipment. The dehydration efficiency of curved plate in combined cycle power plant system was tested under different operating load, the results show that gas velocity and gas/liquid ratio have a great influence on the coal gas dehydration efficiency. If the washing water flow rate and pressure are changed, the efficiency will change at the same time. The moisture content is low when the spraying nozle works at a high water pressure. The operation water pressure and working voltage of electrostatic precipitator have been proposed by testing and analysis. It will have great advantage to the safe operation of turbine.
