As the market penetration of mobile information and communication technologies continues to grow, visitor feedback, such as online reviews of locations or sites visited, will continue to grow in parallel at finer temporal and geographic scales. This growth in data opens the opportunity for travel demand analysts to assess location attractiveness on the basis of online reviews and subsequently inform destination choice models. In geography and urban planning, the construct of sense of place (SOP) has emerged as an indicator for visitor association or connection with a place or site. An opportunity exists for examining SOP through the lens of text mining (i.e., extracting information from online text reviews and forming digital narratives of place). Several websites devoted to sharing feedback on experiences and overall perceptions exist, including Yelp and TripAdvisor. With text-mining methods, previously unidentified SOP-related topics and issues may emerge from online reviews and serve as a basis for subsequent analysis. The results from this study indicate that these emerging topics or terms require more contextual information and interpretation. As a stand-alone method, text mining is insufficient for identifying SOP topics, given the complexity of dimensions that characterize SOP. In addition, the results suggest that timing and seasonality play an important role in visitors’ evaluation of a site; these factors have received less attention in the literature. With respect to text mining as a methodology to gain insights into SOP and supplement existing travel analysis, several barriers exist, including interpretation of topics from topic models. Nonetheless, these approaches are promising and require more research to guide practical implementation for inferring SOP from online text reviews and integration with existing travel analysis approaches.

The relevance of the study is confirmed by the fact that extremism is one of the most dangerous phenomena in the security of the world community, which pose a threat to the whole society both with committed crimes and the destruction of generally recognized rules of morality, law and human values. We point out that in modern conditions the dissemination of extremist ideas is actively promoted by information and communication technologies, especially the Internet. It is emphasized that extremists have the opportunity not only to demonstrate their materials to a multimillion audience, but also to enter into discussions and uphold their ideas and views. The Internet is very promising for extremists. This study considers the benefits that the Internet provides in disseminating extremist information. We believe that the problem of the spread of extremist information on the Internet is especially perceptible to young people. Due to personal and psychological characteristics, this social group is very vulnerable, as they are easily imposed on the ideas and views of extremists. In the context of the active spread of extremism on the Internet, the regulatory framework for combating these crimes is extensively presented. We indicate some problems with the practical implementation of countering extremism on the Internet.

These next-generation devices combine biologically sensitive elements with converters of biophysical signals into electrical digital signals. The article reveals the basic principles of construction of biosensor devices, their practical implementation and application. The own results of development of a wireless network of "smart" multisensors and biosensor devices for express diagnostics of a condition of grape and fruit crops and control of process of production of wine are presented. In order to test the capabilities of the unit of measurement, a number of experimental works were performed. To perform such work, it was first necessary to develop a new embedded software for the microprocessor of Analog Devices ADuCM350, and the corresponding user software for the OS Windows 10. Experiments were performed using disposable sensors based on the enzyme glucose oxidase to measure the sugar content in glucose and wine solution. A review and analysis of modern biosensor devices used in the production of alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages were done. The comparative table of analyzers for different studies based on biosensors is made. Development and preparation for mass production of "smart" biosensors, biosensor devices and networks based on them is in line with global scientific and technological trends of today and, of course, the near future. Keywords: biosensors, ammetric transducers, wireless sensor network, express diagnostics of grape and berry crops.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to evaluate the online presence of Italian destination management organizations (DMOs) by assessing the quality of their web sites through a demand‐side heuristic approach. Moreover, given the importance of a clear strategic vision for an efficient and effective use of online media, the paper examines the alignment between tourism development plans and practical implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT). Finally, the possible impact of the adoption of a strategic approach on the overall quality of the web sites under investigation is explored.Design/methodology/approachA double analysis was conducted. An assessment of the main quality features of the official tourism web sites and an evaluation of the statements of public authorities concerning strategic intentions and guidelines for developing ICT instruments. The two evaluations are compared in order to examine their relationships. A strategic matrix of the technological performance and attitude of Italian regional authorities is proposed.FindingsThe quality of the Italian DMOs' web sites is satisfactory, on average. Weaknesses are found in the offer of interactive services and Web 2.0 functions. Moreover, an improvement in the user evaluations with respect to the past demonstrates the attention given to ICTs by the DMOs. As a matter of fact, the strategic plans examined deal, in general, relatively well with ICT issues, while it is also shown that poor strategic vision, as expressed in the promotional plans, is related to poor performance of some web sites.Originality/valueThe paper assesses the quality of Italian DMOs' web sites quality as perceived by visitors and, for the first time, relates the evaluations to how ICT strategic plans deal with the issue.
