Abstract ALZ 316L is a Cr-Ni-Mo steel with a very low carbon content (0.030 max). Its general resistance to corrosion is similar to AISI Type 316 but, because of its low carbon content, it has superior resistance to the formation of harmful carbides that contribute to intergranular corrosion. Its molybdenum content gives it greater resistance to pitting and makes the alloy suitable for uses where corrosive conditions are severe. Type 316L is used widely in many industries such as chemical, food, paper, textile, nuclear, and oil. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-838. Producer or source: ALZ nv.

Abstract JESSOP TYPE 316L is an extra low carbon variation of Jessop TYPE 316 (See Alloy Digest SS-488, August 1987). It is formulated for resistance to intergranular corrosion in welded or stress relieved structures. JESSOP TYPE 316LM is a more highly alloyed modification of 316L (higher molybdenum and nickel contents) with enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-509. Producer or source: Jessop Steel Company.

Abstract CRONIFER 2522 LCN is a fully austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel with an extremely low carbon content (0.020% maximum). It contains 0.10-0.14% nitrogen. It is outstanding because of its very low corrosion rates in the Huey test. CRONIFER 2522 LCN is recommended especially for those parts of urea plants that are subjected to the most corrosive conditions. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-430. Producer or source: Vereingte Deutsche Metallwerke AG.

Abstract Carlson Alloy 904L is a 21Cr-24Ni-4.5Mo-1.5Cu low-carbon austenitic alloy that resists corrosion in a wide range of both oxidizing and reducing environments. It has good pitting and crevice-corrosion resistance and eliminates stress-corrosion cracking in most common chloride environments. The alloy resists intergranular corrosion in postwelded or stress-relieved conditions because of its very low carbon content. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-844. Producer or source: G.O. Carlson Inc.

Abstract Type 316L (UNS S31603) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless and heat-resisting steel with superior corrosion resistance to other chromium-nickel steels when exposed to many types of chemical corrodents, as well as marine atmospheres. Carbide precipitation as a result of welding in this low carbon version will be minimized, resulting in less susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-900. Producer or source: J & L Specialty Steel Inc.

It is used without carburizing in the as-rolled, annealed, normalized or quenched-and-tempered condition. It is suitable for use in the automotive, farm-machinery and many other industries. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-376. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
