Abstract UGIMA 4570 is a resulfurized grade with calcium added. The steelmaking is carefully controlled and produces a composition with low-melting-point oxides, which produce a lubricating effect during machining. Gains in the cutting condition of 30 to 70% are typical on computer numerical control (CNC) lathe or classical machine work. The alloy is similar to UGIMA NSU but contains additional copper. This datasheet provides information on composition and physical properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-713. Producer or source: Ugine-Savoie. Originally published April 1998, revised October 1998.

Abstract UGIMA NSU and UGIMA 303 are the same grades designated differently for the European and North American markets, respectively. They are resulfurized grades with calcium added. Carefully controlled steelmaking results in a composition with oxides that have a low melting point and produce a lubricating effect during machining. Gains in the cutting conditions of 25 to 50% are typical on computer numerical control (CNC) lathe or classical machine work. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-709. Producer or source: Ugine-Savoie. Originally published March 1998, revised September 1998.

Abstract UGIMA 4404 (UGIMA 316L) is identical to UGINE 4404 (AISI 316L) in analysis, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and forging and welding ability, but not with respect to machinability. A specific melting process creates inclusions of malleable oxides with a low melting point. The inclusions improve machinability by 20-30% compared with AISI 316L (1.4404) stainless steel. This datasheet provides information on composition and physical properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-735. Producer or source: Ugine-Savoie.

Abstract Sterling Silver (Silversmiths grade) contains a minimum of 92.50% silver; the standard grade contains a minimum of 92.10% silver. Historically the remainder was unrestricted but copper was (and is) used because it is more desirable, in general, than other metals. Also, copper is a more effective hardener than other metals that have been considered; however, copper lowers the melting point substantially and lowers the electrical and thermal conductivities appreciably. Sterling Silver is used for flat and hollow tableware, various items of jewelry and special industrial applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: Ag-11. Producer or source: Precious Metals Producers.
