ABSTRAKPegunungan Arfak memiliki kondisi agroekologi penting. Masyarakat Arfak memiliki kearifan dalam bercocok tanam, memiliki hubungan yang dekat dengan kebun. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif melalui observasi dan wawancara dilakukan pada keluarga petani masyarakat Arfak. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan lahan kebun oleh masyarakat Arfak terbatas pada segi pemanfaatan ruang dan sumberdaya lahan. Kondisi lahan curam >60%, rawan banjir dan longsor. Lahan dibuka dengan sistem tebang dan bakar. Kandungan bahan organik umumnya sangat tinggi pada lapisan permukaan, dan menurun sedikit pada lapisan di bawahnya. Masyarakat Arfak sudah mempraktekkan sistem agroforestri kompleks maupun sederhana. Terdapat lima pola aliran energi dalam sistem kebun yang belum dimanfaatkan secara efektif dan efisien. Ditemukan juga lima situasi/kondisi prospek dan konstrain dalam keberlanjutan pertanian di Pegunungan Arfak. Kebun, ternak babi dan serta masyarakat Arfak saling berinteraksi dengan memberikan servis dari dan untuk masing-masing komponen. Kebun mampu membantu petani masyarakat Arfak secara ekonomis, ekologis dan sosiologis. ABSTRACTThe Arfak Mountains have important agroecological conditions. Arfak community have local wisdom in farming, have a close relationship with the garden. Research was conducted  with descriptive methods through observations and interviews conducted on Arfak farming families. The results of the study indicate that the use of garden land by Arfak people is limited in terms of land use and land resources. Steep land conditions is > 60%, prone to flooding and landslides. The land is opened by cutting and burning systems. The content of organic matter is generally very high in the surface layer, and decreases slightly in the layers below. The Arfak community has also used the practices of complex and simple agroforestry. There are five energy flow patterns in the garden system that have not been used effectively and efficiently. Also found are five situations/conditions prospects and constraints in agricultural sustainability in the Arfak Mountains. Farms, pigs and Arfak community interact each other by providing services from and for each component. The gardens are able to help Arfak farmers economically, ecologically and sociologically.

A research about soil organic matter (SOM) classification based on the density was conducted for soil in Bukik Pinang-Pinang region.  The objective of this research was to identify whether the SOM in Pinang-Pinang area, having very high annual rainfall, was mostly particulate or had been associated with mineral particles.  Soils were sampled at three different land use, forest, bush, and mixed wood land on 0-10, 10-20, and 20-30 cm soil depth.  Soil organic matter was classified into 2 classes, < 1.0 g cm-3 and ≥ 1.0 g cm-3 by using pure aquadest.  Total and fractionated SOM samples were analyzed by using Walkley and Black method in soil laboratory, Agriclculture College, Andalas University.  The result showed that, among the three land use surveyed, mixed wood land use gave the highest SOM, then followed by bush land.  Soil OM content in forest ecosystem was much lower than the other two land use for the whole depth.  Based on the density, SOM particulate was higher on the soil surface and decrease by depth in each land use.  Among the ecosystem, SOM under forest was less associated with soil particles than that under bush and mixed wood land. Key Words:  SOM-light fraction, SOM-heavy fraction, land use

The understanding of soil and its response to the global warming is important for the harmony of human and environment. Generally, soil has four majorcomponents as air, water, mineral matter, and organic matter. The relative proportions of these four components greatly influence the behavior and productivity of soils. Through interactions of energy flow and mass exchange,soil plays the role as the crucial interface medium for air, minerals, water and life, and forms a complex integrated body, ecosystem. To a great extent, soil ecology is one new branch of ecology that study the relationship between soil biota and environment, including ecological structure, function, balance and evolution of soil ecosystem. The application of soil ecology will be a benefit for the reasonable and sustainable use of land resources and be important for agriculture, forestry and grazing production.

Land use planners require a time series land resources information and changing pattern for future management. Therefore, it is essential to assess changes in land cover. This study was to quantify the spatio-temporal dynamics of land use change over North and West Africa between 1985 and 2015 using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from the Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR). The total investigated area was determined by 17,328,557.16 km2. The class of Urban and Built-up, Barren or sparsely vegetated, Savannas and Deciduous Broadleaf Forests increases considerably during the last three decades. In contrast, the class of Open Shrublands, Woody Savannas and water decrease notably during the three decades. The class of croplands decreases from 1985 to 1995 and increased from 1995 to 2015. The class of grasslands recorded a first increase from 1985 to 1995, and then decreased from 1995 to 2015. The class of permanent wetlands first decrease from 1985 to 1995, then increase from 1995 to 2005, followed by a decreasing trend during the last decade. The class of evergreen broadleaf forests decreased in the first two decades, from 1985 to 2005, and increased over the last decade.

The increasing challenges of pressure and ever-growing demands on limited resources in Nepal by diverse actors, land degradation, biodiversity lossand climate change require the rational use of land resources to sustain andenhance productivity and maintain resilient ecosystems for achieving thesustainable and efficient use of resources, taking into account biophysicaland socioeconomic dimensions. Regarding this, Nepal Government has realized and taken initiation of scientific and sustainable land use zoning following the National Land Use Act 2019 (2076 B.S.) to use land resourcesin practicable and sustainable manner. Using spatial information techniquessuch asZ-3 satellite image, remote sensing (RS), global positioning system(GPS) and geographic information system (GIS). Multicriteria decisionmaking (MCDM) methods for acquiring spatial/temporal data, throughexpert judgment techniques based on field observation as well as laboratoryanalysis result, it was found that the soil nutrient status of, the municipalityvaried spatially and has pH with very high acidic to slightly alkaline butmost of the soils are slightly acidic (39.58%). Majority of the soil are loamand sandy loam type with very low to high level of organic matter. Mostof the municipal area is under medium range of organic matter. Nitrogencontent ranges from very low to very high level as to same ranges of phosphorous (37.69%). Potassium level is also in very high to low as 37 percent land area has high level of potassium. Reclamation of acidic soil mainly in leachable soil is recommended with the proper management of Nitrogen with addition of organic matter is needed to manage for improving crop production.

Zakat merupakan salah satu sendi pokok ajaran Islam. Urgensi zakat yang merupakan anjuran agama Islam untuk menunaikan zakat dan memberikannya kepada yang berhak dengan ketentuan mencapai nishabnya, (kadar minimum harta tertentu) mempunyai nilai sangat signifikan dalam kehidupan manusia. Seorang insan yang sarat akan segala permasalahan pada fitrahnya menuntut untuk selalu berinteraksi kepada sesama, baik berupa materi maupun non materi. Zakat merupakan maliyah ijtima’iyyah yang mengandung nilai-nilai filantropi yang sangat tinggi, karena ketika mengaplikasikan kewajiban zakat kita telah membantu sesama serta mengurangi kesenjangan yang disebabkan beberapa sifat manusia diantaranya adalah sifat kikir, dengki dan iri hati. Menguatnya kembali harapan banyak kalangan terhadap implementasi filantropi Islam, baik dalam bentuk zakat, infak, sedekah, dan wakaf, memiliki keterkaitan erat dengan kondisi bangsa yang belum sepenuhnya bangkit dari keterpurukan sebagai dampak dari krisis ekonomi yang berkepanjangan. Kondisi ini berakibat kesenjangan penguasaan perekonomian antar warga negara menjadi kian lebar. Pada saat itulah, ziswaf (zakat, infak, sedekah, dan wakaf) kembali dilirik dan diharapkan menjadi alternatif solusi terhadap problem kemiskinan umat. Manusia sebagai khalifah fil ardh dalam Al Qurán menekankan muatan fungsional yang harus diemban oleh manusia dalam melaksanakan tugas-tugas kesejarahan dalam kehidupannya di muka bumi. Kaitan dengan konsep tersebut, ada dua fungsi manusia. Pertama: Manusia sebagai hamba (ábid), dituntut untuk sukses menjalin hubungan secara vertikal dalam hal ini hubungannya dengan ketuhanan (Teologis). Kedua adalah manusia sebagai khalifah, dituntut untuk sukses menjalin hubungan secara horizontal dalam hal ini hubungan terhadap manusia.Kata kunci: tafsir ayat zakat, filantropi, ekonomi keummatanAbstract:Zakat is one of the main points of Islamic teachings. The urgency of zakat which is suggested by Islam to fulfill and give it to those who are referred to with the provisions to reach their nishab, (minimum level of certain assets) has a very significant value in human life. A person who is full of all problems in his/her natural demands will always get interaction with other people, either material or non-material. Zakat is maliyah ijtima’iyyah which contains very high philanthropic values, because when applying the obligation of zakat we have helped others and reduced the gaps caused by some human traits including miser, jealousy and envy. The reinforcement of the expectations (estimation) from any levels on the implementation of Islamic philanthropy, which in the form of zakat, donation, alms and endowments, has a close relationship with the condition of the country that has not fully risen from bad economic adversity due to economic crisis. This condition causes a widening of the economic mastery among the citizens. At that moment, ziswaf (zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf) was again given a serious attentition and expected to be an alternative solution to the problem of poverty among citizens. Humans as khalifah fil ardh in the Qur'an emphasize the functional content that must be carried by humans in carrying out historical tasks in their lives on earth. In accordance with this concept, there are two human functions. First: Humans as servants (ábid), are required to succeed in establishing a vertical relationship in this case the relationship with God (Theological). Second, humans as caliphs, are required to succeed in establishing horizontal relationships in this case the relationship to humans.

Sukabumi District located in Southern West Java known as a region that has diverse natural characteristics, however, it is vulnerable to disasters, especially landslides. Moreover, this study focuses on Cisolok District because this region always occurred landslides every year due to topography aspect. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of geomorphology to landslide-prone area in Cisolok District to reduce landslides. This study used overlay analysis for geomorphology mapping, while the Frequency Ratio (FR) method used for landslide-prone area mapping. Several physical variables used in this study such as slope, elevation, lithology, geological structure, road network, stream network, land use, soil type, rainfall, and landslide location. The result shows that the study areas have diverse geomorphology units dominated by volcanic slope with steep topography. While landslide-prone area consist of four classes : namely 17,03% low, 62,05% medium, 14,4% high, and 6,51% very high. Variety of landslide vulnerability in study area influenced by terrain form, land genesis, and geomorphic process.

Black soil is fertile, abundant with organic matter (OM) and is exceptional for farming. The black soil zone in northeast China is the third-largest black soil zone globally and produces a quarter of China’s commodity grain. However, the soil organic matter (SOM) in this zone is declining, and the quality of cultivated land is falling off rapidly due to overexploitation and unsustainable management practices. To help develop an integrated protection strategy for black soil, this study aimed to identify the primary factors contributing to SOM degradation. The geographic detector, which can detect both linear and nonlinear relationships and the interactions based on spatial heterogeneous patterns, was used to quantitatively analyze the natural and anthropogenic factors affecting SOM concentration in northeast China. In descending order, the nine factors affecting SOM are temperature, gross domestic product (GDP), elevation, population, soil type, precipitation, soil erosion, land use, and geomorphology. The influence of all factors is significant, and the interaction of any two factors enhances their impact. The SOM concentration decreases with increased temperature, population, soil erosion, elevation and terrain undulation. SOM rises with increased precipitation, initially decreases with increasing GDP but then increases, and varies by soil type and land use. Conclusions about detailed impacts are presented in this paper. For example, wind erosion has a more significant effect than water erosion, and irrigated land has a lower SOM content than dry land. Based on the study results, protection measures, including conservation tillage, farmland shelterbelts, cross-slope ridges, terraces, and rainfed farming are recommended. The conversion of high-quality farmland to non-farm uses should be prohibited.

Incessant flooding is a major hazard in Lagos State, Nigeria, occurring concurrently with increased urbanization and urban expansion rate. Consequently, there is a need for an assessment of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes over time in the context of flood hazard mapping to evaluate the possible causes of flood increment in the State. Four major land cover types (water, wetland, vegetation, and developed) were mapped and analyzed over 35 years in the study area. We introduced a map-matrix-based, post-classification LULC change detection method to estimate multi-year land cover changes between 1986 and 2000, 2000 and 2016, 2016 and 2020, and 1986 and 2020. Seven criteria were identified as potential causative factors responsible for the increasing flood hazards in the study area. Their weights were estimated using a combined (hybrid) Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Shannon Entropy weighting method. The resulting flood hazard categories were very high, high, moderate, low, and very low hazard levels. Analysis of the LULC change in the context of flood hazard suggests that most changes in LULC result in the conversion of wetland areas into developed areas and unplanned development in very high to moderate flood hazard zones. There was a 69% decrease in wetland and 94% increase in the developed area during the 35 years. While wetland was a primary land cover type in 1986, it became the least land cover type in 2020. These LULC changes could be responsible for the rise in flooding in the State.

Spatial distribution of soil organic carbon (SOC) is the result of a combination of various factors related to both the natural environment and anthropogenic activities. The aim of this study was to examine (i) the state of SOC in topsoil and subsoil of vineyards compared to the nearest forest, (ii) the influence of soil management on SOC, (iii) the variation in SOC content with topographic position, (iv) the intensity of soil erosion in order to estimate the leaching of SOC from upper to lower topographic positions, and (v) the significance of SOC for the reduction of soil’s susceptibility to compaction. The study area was the vineyard region of Niš, which represents a medium-sized vineyard region in Serbia. About 32% of the total land area is affected, to some degree, by soil erosion. However, according to the mean annual soil loss rate, the total area is classified as having tolerable erosion risk. Land use was shown to be an important factor that controls SOC content. The vineyards contained less SOC than forest land. The SOC content was affected by topographic position. The interactive effect of topographic position and land use on SOC was significant. The SOC of forest land was significantly higher at the upper position than at the middle and lower positions. Spatial distribution of organic carbon in vineyards was not influenced by altitude, but occurred as a consequence of different soil management practices. The deep tillage at 60–80 cm, along with application of organic amendments, showed the potential to preserve SOC in the subsoil and prevent carbon loss from the surface layer. Penetrometric resistance values indicated optimum soil compaction in the surface layer of the soil, while low permeability was observed in deeper layers. Increases in SOC content reduce soil compaction and thus the risk of erosion and landslides. Knowledge of soil carbon distribution as a function of topographic position, land use and soil management is important for sustainable production and climate change mitigation.

AbstractGreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from rivers and lakes have been shown to significantly contribute to global carbon and nitrogen cycling. In spatiotemporal-variable and human-impacted rivers in the grassland region, simultaneous carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide emissions and their relationships under the different land use types are poorly documented. This research estimated greenhouse gas (CO2, CH4, N2O) emissions in the Xilin River of Inner Mongolia of China using direct measurements from 18 field campaigns under seven land use type (such as swamp, sand land, grassland, pond, reservoir, lake, waste water) conducted in 2018. The results showed that CO2 emissions were higher in June and August, mainly affected by pH and DO. Emissions of CH4 and N2O were higher in October, which were influenced by TN and TP. According to global warming potential, CO2 emissions accounted for 63.35% of the three GHG emissions, and CH4 and N2O emissions accounted for 35.98% and 0.66% in the Xilin river, respectively. Under the influence of different degrees of human-impact, the amount of CO2 emissions in the sand land type was very high, however, CH4 emissions and N2O emissions were very high in the artificial pond and the wastewater, respectively. For natural river, the greenhouse gas emissions from the reservoir and sand land were both low. The Xilin river was observed to be a source of carbon dioxide and methane, and the lake was a sink for nitrous oxide.
