The workshop program of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence’s 33rd Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-19) was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Sunday and Monday, January 27–28, 2019. Community-based question answering (CQA) is formed to help people who search information that they need through a community. One condition that may occurs in CQA is when people cannot obtain the information that they need, thus they will post a new question. This condition can cause CQA archive increased because of duplicated questions. Therefore, it becomes important problems to find semantically similar questions from CQA archive towards a new question. In this study, we use convolutional neural network methods for semantic modeling of sentence to obtain words that they represent the content of documents and new question. The result for the process of finding the same question semantically to a new question (query) from the question-answer documents archive using the convolutional neural network method, obtained the mean average precision value is 0,422. Whereas by using vector space model, as a comparison, obtained mean average precision value is 0,282. Index Terms—community-based question answering, convolutional neural network, question retrieval

Background: Duplicate content often corrupts the filtering mechanism in online question answering. Moreover, as users are usually more comfortable conversing in their native language questions, transliteration adds to the challenges in detecting duplicate questions. This compromises with the response time and increases the answer overload. Thus, it has now become crucial to build clever, intelligent and semantic filters which semantically match linguistically disparate questions. Objective: Most of the research on duplicate question detection has been done on mono-lingual, majorly English Q&A platforms. The aim is to build a model which extends the cognitive capabilities of machines to interpret, comprehend and learn features for semantic matching in transliterated bi-lingual Hinglish (Hindi + English) data acquired from different Q&A platforms. Method: In the proposed DQDHinglish (Duplicate Question Detection) Model, firstly language transformation (transliteration & translation) is done to convert the bi-lingual transliterated question into a mono-lingual English only text. Next a hybrid of Siamese neural network containing two identical Long-term-Short-memory (LSTM) models and Multi-layer perceptron network is proposed to detect semantically similar question pairs. Manhattan distance function is used as the similarity measure. Result: A dataset was prepared by scrapping 100 question pairs from various social media platforms, such as Quora and TripAdvisor. The performance of the proposed model on the basis of accuracy and F-score. The proposed DQDHinglish achieves a validation accuracy of 82.40%. Conclusion: A deep neural model was introduced to find semantic match between English question and a Hinglish (Hindi + English) question such that similar intent questions can be combined to enable fast and efficient information processing and delivery. A dataset was created and the proposed model was evaluated on the basis of performance accuracy. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first reported study on transliterated Hinglish semantic question matching.

Nowadays, farmers can search for treatments for their plants using search engines and applications. Most existing works are developed in the form of rule-based question answering platforms. However, an observation could be incorrectly given by the farmer. This work recommends that diseases and treatments must be considered from a set of related observations. Thus, we develop a theoretical framework for systems to manage a farmer's observation data. We investigate and formalize desirable characteristics of such systems. The observation data is attached with a geolocation in which related contextual data is found. The framework is formalized based on algebra, in which required types and functions are identified. Its key characteristics are described by: (1) the defined type called warncons for representing observation data; (2) the similarity function for warncons; and (3) the warncons composition function for composing similar warncons. Finally, we show that the framework helps observation data to become richer and improve advice-finding.
