This book is a collection of articles related to themes, issues and concerns related to Quality of Work Life (QWL). This book is organized into two separate but related parts. Part A is a collection of articles on how QWL is examined from the perspective of Human Resource Management (HRM). HRM is a broad concept that entails the policies, practices, and systems that influence employees behaviour, attitudes and performance.Topics such as organizational citizenship behaviour, organizational politics, job stress, and interpersonal topics are some issues that are closely related to QWL. Part B, is a collection of articles related to the field of organizational behaviour.Organizational behaviour involves the actions of individuals and groups in an organizational context.As a field of study, organizational behaviour discusses how organizational effectiveness can be achieved through the actions of individuals and groups at the workplace. Topics such as conflicts, workplace deviant, behaviour, organizational learning and job satisfaction are some of the topics being discussed.This book discussed issues related to QWL, especially from the perspectives of human resource management and organizational behaviour.It is hoped that this book is helpful in facilitating better understanding of achieving quality work life among employees and managements in organizations.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the human resource management practices and the associated dimensions of quality of employment in university spin-offs. Through this, it becomes possible to explore and recognize the practices and difficulties placed on the employees of university spin-offs. Design/methodology/approach The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) framework to assess the quality of work in the European Union is adopted. It is used a qualitative approach through the development of four case studies at university spin-offs located in Portugal. These case studies relate to four sectors of activity, such as information technology, urban mobility, health and electronics. Findings The findings reveal that most of the challenges of quality of work in a spin-off university are common to those in an SME or micro company. Among these factors, the authors highlight the lack of job security, reduced or no social protection and very low income and nonwage pecuniary benefits. Other factors specific to university spin-offs also emerge, such as the numerous opportunities for skills development and training, the potentialities to become an entrepreneur and the high number of working hours that are necessary to face the vibrant market dynamics. Originality/value The study aims to contribute, in a theoretical and empirically grounded basis, to the knowledge about the quality of employment in a spin-off university. This work becomes relevant for policymakers to understand in depth the specific challenges faced by employees of a spin-off university.

Abstract The goal of the paper is to present chosen problems of management of Z-Generations’ employees connected with the quality of work. The characteristics of the youngest employees revealing their specific attitude towards work and expectations toward employers as well as lack of competences show particular importance of the issue of quality of work in relation to this generation. Nowadays, focusing employees on the quality of work does not mean only precise implementation of strictly defined tasks, because this type of performed work can be ensured by the increasingly widespread automation and robotization of workplaces. Taking up the issues of challenges which for the contemporary human resource management is the quality of working conditions, in relation to the representatives of the Z-generation (Gen Z), paper presents the results of researches and reports illustrating the specificity of these young employees on the labor market. The article attempts to analyze the functioning of the youngest employees and showing instruments by means of which the managers of organizations can shape the involvement of these generation and thus improve the quality of their work.

Subject. This article explores the problems of digital management in business process management. Objectives. The article aims to investigate the methodological problems of digital management and process approach application in business process management. Methods. For the study, we used a content analysis of the scientific literature on the subject, and generalization techniques. Results. The article offers our own original approach and assessment and substantiates methodological provisions to identify the positive and negative aspects of digital transformation in relation to business and economic units. The main reasons for the need for digital management transformation are the improvement and development of information infrastructure, improvement of the technological level of specific subsystems and technologies, and the social consequences of the digital economy. Conclusions. Digital management and process approach in business process management take economic activity to a new effective level. The quality of work gets changed, it becomes fragmented, the on-site or on-team presence is not mandatory, employees can perform most of the work remotely, there is a change in perception of the real world. All this affects the quality of work.

Quality of Work Life (QWL) and job satisfaction are critical concepts in the field of Human Resource Management (HRM). An intellectual puzzle was chosen by the researchers with regard to whether QWL and job satisfaction are the same or different, and if different, how they are differed. By using the desk research strategy a systematic attempt was made to solve the intellectual puzzle to a reasonable extent. Both constructs were found to be different and related. Four facets of the relationship between the two constructs were revealed: Job satisfaction being a dimension of QWL; job satisfaction not being a dimension of QWL; job satisfaction working as an antecedent of QWL; and finally job satisfaction being a consequence of QWL. Formulated synthesis is perceived as an original contribution to the concepts of QWL and job satisfaction.

Nowadays, every organisation is looking for new approaches and ways that lead to the optimal usage of workforce and potential of workers which in turn leads to improved status of the business subject within the competitive environment. A still unappreciated element in business management is the level of relationship between the managers and employees and among the employees themselves. Good social relationships, open in-house climate and quality communication significantly influence the behaviour of employees and their performance, contribute to participation of employees in fulfilling the organisation’s goals and by that increasing the performance of the workers and the organisation as a whole. This sphere of social relationships, in-house climate and quality of communication is a stabilizing or unstabilizing element in businesses. In and unsatisfactory and stressful environment, undesirable fluctuations in the employees’ performance occur. Harmful practices (bullying), which prevent the optimal usage of the workforce, lead to the creation of an unfriendly and disfunctional Environment, breakup of teams, they lower the creativity of the employees and encourage bad attendance and fluctuations. A decline in morale of the whole company occurs and the performance, quality of work and productivity of workers also decreases. In spite of the aforementioned reasons why we should fight against these harmful practices which show signs of bullying, more than 40% of Czech employees between 2007 and 2011 have experienced some form of bullying.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the predictors of perceived quality of work life (QWL) by accentuating on human resource interventions in healthcare units. Design/methodology/approach – Primary data were accumulated from 158 health care employees through a structured questionnaire from healthcare organisations in India. Statistical analysis was done using tools like factor analysis and multiple regression analysis by using SPSS (version 20). Findings – A total of 18 independent variables was used in the study, only four factors were extracted specifically work life balance, communication, teamwork and empowerment were found to be significant predictors of perceived QWL. The proposed hypotheses for this study are significant. Research limitations/implications – This work provides a pragmatic view about the compendium of human resource interventions pivotal for better QWL in healthcare organisations. The survey also offers insights to healthcare managers, administrators and practitioners for implementing these interventions. Originality/value – This work clearly reflects on the relationship of HR intervention and QWL in the new context of health care.

The aim of the study is to identify the association between human resource development practices with respect to quality of work life. The researcher has taken various factors like: performance appraisal, training and development, coaching and counseling and career planning and development. The study is concerned to all levels of management in APSRTC-NELLORE zone. The survey method is applied to procure the data from various responses. Identified various factors which will impact on work life of employees. The total 546 respondents were collected from various categories of employees in the organization. A Conceptual model has been developed which explains quality of work life of an employee. The outcome of the research explores about what are the various human resource development factors which impact on individual work life of employees.
