This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Department of Geomorphology (since 2000 – Geomorphology and Paleogeography) of the Faculty of Geography, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, formed on the basis of the existing Lviv school of geography, which possessed old traditions and scientific achievements in the research of relief, in particular, of its development and formation. On the occasion of the anniversary, the article attempts to analyze the main achievements of the Department over the 70-year period, to highlight the main stages of its development and to outline the new challenges facing the Department today. There is the “Engineering, ecological and regional geomorphology” scientific school successfully functioning at the Department. Within its borders, the “Paleogeography of the Pleistocene” research direction is rapidly developing with significant achievements recognized at the international level. Anthropogenic and dynamic geomorphology, historical and geographical research, and geomorphological mapping with the use of GIS and remote sensing have been intensively developed. Over the last decade, research on the environmental issues, including spatial planning and design of nature reserves and ecological networks, as well as the study of geoheritage, geotourism and geoeducation have been singled out into independent areas. Overall, there are four development stages of the Department: the first ‒ from its foundation (1950) till 1970, the second ‒ during 1971-1990, the third ‒ during 1990-2010, and the fourth ‒ from 2010 till present. For each of them, the main scientific and practical achievements of the Department are briefly analyzed. The most important event in the first stage was the launching of fundamental comprehensive regional research, including the Ukrainian Carpathians, under the supervision of P. Tsys; in the second one ‒ the development of regional and engineering-geomorphological research and the introduction of stationary and semi-stationary research of modern relief-forming processes for the first time in Ukraine; in the third one ‒ the formation of a research school of engineering, ecological and regional geomorphology and the rapid development of Pleistocene paleogeography, as well as of environmental research; in the fourth one ‒ active development of the “Engineering, Ecological and Regional Geomorphology” scientific school and of the “Pleistocene Paleogeography” research direction, as well as of the investigations related to geoheritage, geotourism and geoeducation. The main current challenges are outlined at the end of the article. Key words: geomorphology; paleogeography; stages of development; scientific school; research directions; research; achievements; challenges.

The researches and discoveries of unknown pages of Ukrainian geography is essential condition for the development of all areas of scientific and geographical process. The study and research of scientific heritage of Romanian speaking geographers is one of the modern trends in the history of geography. Among the not much explored pages of scientific heritage of Ukrainian speaking geographers are Romanian scientists who have made significant contributions to the development of geographical researches in Bukovina and Chernivtsi National University: Evhen Botezat, Traian Shtefuryak, Yemil Pop, Orest Marku, George Buzhoryan and others. The direction of their researches was diverse. The scientists analyzed the influence of various factors on the environment, characterized the importance of pests for forest and aquatic ecosystems. Also, Romanian speaking scientists have also contributed to the restoration of protected areas in the Chernivtsi region, proposed new experimental measures for environmental protection, environmental reconstruction of the regions affected by human activities and more. Thus, the article described the main areas of research Romanian speaking scientists in Chernivtsi University and their contribution to the development of geographical science in Bukovina, as the need to study and to use the results of scientific research in order to enrich the modern Ukrainian geography. The principles of scientific attribution of liturgical cyrillic manuscripts, which has been worked out by author, are examined. The thorough study of Jerusalem Ecclesiastic Typikon from the rare books and manuscripts department’s collection of Maksymovych Scientific Library of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is conducted. The stages of manuscript attribution are analyzed, including the date identification and localization of its origins and use. The type and the title of the codex have been identificated by the analysis of book’s texts. The linguistic variant of Church Slavonic language, used for re-writing the copy, is revealed, which has helped to localize the place of creation. Detailed watermark analysis of paper, which the copy had been made of, has allowed to estimate date range of its production. The problematic ascertainment of the date of creation has been also supported by the analysis of the textual sources, studying of palaeographic peculiarities of cyrillic script book, the inner book’s decorative features. The problem of binding production date, its construction, materials and design, is formulated. The state of preservation of manuscript is analysed, which led the author to understanding the extent of book’s relevance for its readers. The history of manuscript restoration and its stages have been studied. The places of use and migration of the copy are revealed on the basis of provenance examination up till its arrival to Maksymovych Scientific Library’s rare books collection. Key words: Jerusalem Ecclesiastic Typikon, manuscript, Cyrillic manuscript, attribution, codicology, Maksymovych Scientific Library of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The creation of a school on applied geometry at the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine is associated with the names of the so-called prof. Obukhova Violetta and prof. Rozov Seraphim. Thanks to these outstanding personalities, the Department of Drawing Geometry and Mechanical Engineering of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (the old name of the department and university) became widely known in the former Soviet Union. Members of the department annually honor the memory of prof. Obukhova V., hold a scientific and practical conference «Obukhov Readings». Now the conference has acquired international status and is held by order of the rector of the university. The conference is attended by teachers from Kiev universities, from universities in other cities, scientists who had to work with V.S. Obukhova or listen to her lectures, being students, doctoral students, graduate students. The development of the school is evidenced by the fact that over the past 15 years, 15 PhD theses have been defended by former graduate students of the department. Some of them are working on doctoral dissertations. Today, the scientific school was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of Pilipakа Sergey. Under his leadership, 17 master's theses and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended. It should be noted that the range of scientific research of the school representatives is quite wide. Many publications focus on bending surfaces based on the invariability of the expression of a linear surface element. The main area of research is geometric modeling of technical forms and automation of their design. In the field of view of scientists - the design of unfolding surfaces, as a bypass single-parameter set of planes, the location on the surfaces of geodetic lines and their design according to a given curve, which should be a geodetic line for the surface and interpolation of a point series in plane and space.

The article traces the scientific path and analyzes the results of the scientific activities of S. V. Savchenko – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, a well-known in Ukraine and abroad scholar and educator, Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. It is shown that in the center of scientific searches of the scholar always were the most actual problems, the study of which he began as one of the first. His Ph.D. thesis, defended in 1990, was at that time a bold attempt to study the activities of informal associations of students. The most important and complex issues related to the socialization of student youth in extracurricular activities was addressed in his doctoral dissertation (2004), which developed, substantiated and experimentally verified socio-pedagogical model of student socialization process. A number of scientific works, prepared in co-authorship, reflect the philosophical aspects of modern educational activity. A special place in the scientific and pedagogical heritage of S. V. Savchenko is occupied by the research of the problems of personality socialization in the conditions of hybrid war in the east of Ukraine. The subject of scientific study was little-studied processes that are denoted by the terms «aberrational socialization», «media socialization», «cybersocialization». The peculiarities of the content and technologies of students’ patriotic education as a factor of socialization are defined.
