Most forestry machinery today has a wheel-driven engine, and its tyre pressure has a significant impact on the compaction and degradation of the forest soil, causing environmental damages. Not only the durability of the tyres but also the driving characteristics and productivity of wheeled forest machines depend on the correct choice of pressure and competent operation. This work aims to analyse modern tyre pressure control technologies to develop an automated tyre pressure control system for wheeled forest machinery and lower the environmental impact. A new tyre pressure control system in forest machines was developed using a PressurePro solution, which contributes to a lower negative influence on the soil and reduces expenses for diagnostics and fuel. The study results of the tyre-to-ground contact pressure show that the installation of an automatic tyre pressure control system leads to its decrease by 20%. However, as the number of passes increases, the pressure might slightly increase. The study of humus content and soil compaction demonstrates that reduced tyre pressure and its automatic control contribute to a minimal reduction in humus content and soil compaction over time. Installation of the tyre pressure and temperature control system on forestry machines allows the system to be implemented quickly due to the simplicity of installation and operation.

AbstractGlaucoma is an eye disorder in which the optic nerve is damaged over time due to a sustained elevation of the intraocular pressure (IOP). Being the second leading cause of blindness according to the reports of the World Health Organization, glaucoma is not only a serious ocular disease that threatens individuals, but also a community health problem. In recent years, great improvement has been achieved in the technology of implants used in the treatment of the disease. Despite the great effort dedicated to the design and implementation of the glaucoma drainage devices (GDD), they still have unsolved problems and weaknesses. Most of the currently employed GDDs are very simple and have major problems such as reversed flow, choking and a coarse interval of pressure control. Experiments must be devised to investigate the flow behavior inside these devices. In this study, an accurate microfluidics experimental setup is constructed to analyze and characterize the in-vitro performance of actively employed GDDs on the glaucoma treatment. Proposed setup includes a pressurized fluid reservoir, ELVEFLOW microfluidics flow rate measurement/control unit, microfluidics flow/pressure sensors, and data analysis system. In the setup, more precise measurements than experimental setups in literature is planned to be provided. It is estimated that the results showing consistency with in-vivo measurements will be obtained, behavior of the fluid passing through the GDDs will be observed and issues with design flaws will be addressed.

ObjectivesPoor worldwide rate of blood pressure control is largely due to poor adherence to antihypertensive (AHT) drug treatment. The question of whether sex affects adherence has long been debated but conflicting findings have been reported on this issue. Our objective was to evaluate sex differences in the adherence to AHT therapy.Research design and methodsStudies were identified through a systematic search of PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science and Google Scholar (through January 2020) and manual handsearching of relevant articles. Observational studies reporting adherence to AHT drugs measured by self-report or pharmacy refill prescription-based methods among men and women were included. Summarised estimates of ORs with 95% CIs were calculated using random-effects model and meta-regression models.ResultsFrom 12 849 potentially relevant publications, 82 studies (15 517 457 men and 18 537 599 women) were included. No significant between-sex differences in adherence to AHT were observed, whether all study-specific estimates were summarised (ORs 1.04, 95% CI 1.00 to 1.09, p=0.07), nor estimates were pooled according to the method for measuring adherence. Among patients aged 65 years or older, lower self-reported adherence was observed in women (ORs 0.84, 95% CI 0.72 to 0.97, p=0.02), while the main result remained unchanged according to other subgroup analyses.ConclusionsDefinitive evidence of sex differences in adherence to AHT therapy cannot be drawn. Our little knowledge about factors affecting adherence, in particular of sex effect among elderly, urgently requires high-quality studies investigating these issues.

Combining the advantages of rheological behavior of magnetorheological fluid (MRF) and flexibility adjustability of rubber gasbag, a magnetorheological flexible gasbag polishing technique applied to free-form mould is proposed. With the development of robotic gasbag polishing technique, the flexibility of rubber gasbag can be adjusted by three methods of changing its internal pressure controlled through a pressure control unit, its own material property and structural parameter, and the rheological behavior of MRF inside of it in response to the application of an alterable magnetic field. Effect of rheological behavior to the flexibility of rubber gasbag and surface quality of mould is the single most important focus in this paper. The magnetorheological flexible gasbag polishing system is established and rheological behavior of MRF with magnetic field is described. Through polishing experiment focusing on the relationship between the surface roughness and current around electromagnetic coil, it can be obtained that magnetorheological flexible gasbag polishing technique is effective to improve surface quality when increasing current around coil in certain extent.

The air quantity of variable air volume system for the rooms and the total air quantity of the system changes with the change of room load. Combined with the system composition in the laboratory, the paper determines the control scheme of the variable air volume system, that is, indoor temperature-control, indoor positive pressure control, air distribution static pressure control, air-supply temperature control and new air volume control. The dotted lines with arrows mean the output signals from the control unit to actuator, and the solid lines with arrows represent the input signals from the actuator to the control unit.
