transportation is one segment that produced greenhouse gasses. Transportation produced 14% emission in the world and will continuously arise. Because of that, so many effort made to reduce the rises. One of them is to reduce fuel consumption. To reduced fuel consumption we need to reduced the drag aerodynamic effect. This experiment use ansys software modeling with reversed ahmed body car model. Simulation does at 30 km/h, 60 km/h and 100 km/h. from the simulation we can get the stream turbulency and the drag coefficient at 0.073.

AbstractAhmed Body is a standard and simplified shape of a road vehicle that's rear part has an important role in flow structure and it's drag force. In this paper flow control around the Ahmed body with the rear slant angle of 25° studied by using the plasma actuator system situated in middle of the rear slant surface. Experiments conducted in a wind tunnel in two free stream velocities of U = 10m/s and U = 20m/s using steady and unsteady excitations. Pressure distribution and total drag force were measured and smoke flow visualization carried out in this study. The results showed that at U = 10m/s using plasma actuator suppress the separated flow over the rear slant slightly and be effective on pressure distribution. Also, total drag force reduces in steady and unsteady excitations for 3.65% and 2.44%, respectively. At U = 20m/s, using plasma actuator had no serious effect on the pressure distribution and total drag force.

This paper presents new results concerning the aerodynamics of the Ahmed body fitted with a non-flat underbody diffuser. As in previous investigations performed, the angle and the length of the diffuser are the parameters systematically varied within ranges relevant for a hatchback passenger car. Coefficients of lift and drag are compared with the values obtained for the flat underbody diffuser, and the results reveal significant improvements concerning aerodynamic characteristics of body.

AbstractSome teams aiming for victory in a mountain stage in cycling take control in the uphill sections of the stage. While drafting, the team imposes a high speed at the front of the peloton defending their team leader from opponent’s attacks. Drafting is a well-known strategy on flat or descending sections and has been studied before in this context. However, there are no systematic and extensive studies in the scientific literature on the aerodynamic effect of uphill drafting. Some studies even suggested that for gradients above 7.2% the speeds drop to 17 km/h and the air resistance can be neglected. In this paper, uphill drafting is analyzed and quantified by means of drag reductions and power reductions obtained by computational fluid dynamics simulations validated with wind tunnel measurements. It is shown that even for gradients above 7.2%, drafting can yield substantial benefits. Drafting allows cyclists to save over 7% of power on a slope of 7.5% at a speed of 6 m/s. At a speed of 8 m/s, this reduction can exceed 16%. Sensitivity analyses indicate that significant power savings can be achieved, also with varying bicycle, cyclist, road and environmental characteristics.
