Abstract This research was aimed to find out whether or not the Draw Label Caption is effective toward students’ writing skill. The research was experimental research and the design used was pre-experimental with pretest-posttest design. The population of the study was the second year students of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram which consisted of one class (28 students). One class was chosen by using simple sampling technique and the result of test was distributed obtain the research data. In analyzing the data was used t-test formula. The findings showed that t-test was (4.875) > t-table (2.052) at the significant level = 0,05 (95%) and N=28 students. It means that, Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is using Draw Label Caption toward students’ writing skill at the second year students of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram in academic year 2019/2020 was accepted. It could be concluded that there was significant effect of Draw Label Caption toward student’s writing skill at second year student of SMA Hang Tuah Mataram.

The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of Wholesome Scattering Game in improving students’ writing skills on descriptive text and to find out whether there is a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were not. This research used quantitative approach focusing on experimental research which was conducted at SMAN 2 Sungaiselan in academic year 2019/2020. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, with 69 students (35 students for the control group and 34 students for the  experimental). The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. The finding showed that the students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game got higher score than those who were taught by using non-Wholesome Scattering Game. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It could be concluded that there was a significant difference between students who were taught by using Wholesome Scattering Game and the students who were taught without using Wholesome Scattering Game.

This study was conducted in order to investigate the effectiveness of trait based assessment on teaching writing skill for EFL learners. Designed as pre-experimental study with one group pretest and posttest design, it examined 20 students of the second semester of English Department of Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2016/ 2017 as the samples. Purposive sampling technique was used in determining the samples. Writing test and analytical scoring rubric were the instruments used to collect the data. Then the data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test to test the hypothesis. The result of descriptive statistics analysis revealed that trait based assessment is effective on teaching writing skill for EFL learners since the mean score of posttest 60 was higher than mean score of pretest 28.20. While for hypothesis testing by using paired sample t-test at significance (2-tailed) value level was .000, it was lower than .05. Therefore, it means that the hypothesis of this study was accepted. In other word, trait based assessment was significantly effective in improving students’ writing skill.

The objectives of this research were: (1) To find out whether the use of simon says game effective or not to improve the students vocabulary at the second year of SMP Negeri 1 Palopo and (2) What are the students responses in learning vocabulary by using simon says game. This research employed pre experimental design. The population of this research was the second year students of SMP Negeri 1 Palopo, which consisting of eight classes in 2016/2017 academic year. The total number of population was 290 students. This research used purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was one class as an pre experimental class. The sample of the class was 20 students. The research data was collected by using vocabulary test to get the students vocabulary achievement, which was analyzed by inferential statistic through SPSS version 20.0 for windows program. The students result of posttest of pre experimental class is significantly improved than the students result of pretest by the mean score 68.00 > 50.10. The difference of both scores is statistically significant based on the t-test value at significant level 0.05 in which the probability value is lower than the significant level (0.00 < 0.05). So, H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. It can be concluded that the use of Simon says game effective to improve the students vocabulary and the students also gave positive responses in learning vocabulary by using Simon says game.

This research was aimed to know whether the " Pyramid Discussion" can give a significant influence toward the students' writing skill at the second year students’ of SMA Darul Hikmah in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. The research design of this study was pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test one group only. The population of this research was the second grade student of SMA Darul Hikmah Mataram in the Academic Year of 2016/2017 that consist of 33 students with 18 males and 15 females students. Meanwhile, the instrument of this research was pre-writing test. The technique of data analysis were descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the result of the data analysis as the mean score of pre-test was 22.5 and the mean score of post-test was 28.2 Whereas the score of t-test was 9.24 the score of t-table was 1.68 with 32 of freedom degree it was the confidence level of 0.05 or 90% the findings indicated that the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (9.24 >1.684). The conclusion of this research showed that " Pyramid Discussion" was significantly influenced the students' writing skill at the second year students’ of SMA Darul Hikmah in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. It can be conferred that the null hypothesis (Ho) was  rejected and therefore the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Finally the researcher may conclude that the use of pyramid discussion in teaching writing was significantly influenced.

This study is based on the research which attempted to examine the effectiveness of realia in writing descriptive text by the seventh grade students. The objectives of the research were (1) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught by using realia, (2) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught without using realia, (3) also to analyze and find out whether there is significant difference between students who are taught by using realia and those taught without using realia. Quasi experimental design was used with the population of 256 seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Semarang in the academic year 2017/2018. By using purposive sampling technique, there were two classes chosen as the sample of this study; vii a and vii b. The instruments of collecting data used were tests; pre-test and post-test. After the data were collected, they were analysed using t-test. The findings were as follows: (1) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught using realia was good with the mean of the post-test was 80.21. (2) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught without using realia was adequate with the mean of the post-test was 74.44. (3) there was significant difference of the two group students. t-test 4.89 > t-table 2.00. therefore, ha was accepted that realia was effective as a media in teaching writing of descriptive text.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This research applied experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data was a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 second year students (grade VIII) of SMP N 1 Sei Rampah. There were nine paralel classes that consisted of 30 students. The total number of the population were 270 students. The total number of the sample were 60 students. The researcher selected the sample by choosing only 2 classes  by using sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Engage, Study, Activate technique while the control group was taught without applying Engage, Study, Activate technique. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (4.383) is higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom (df= 58) at the level significance 0.05 one tail test. It means that alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text is accepted. Writing is regarded as a challenging subject in school. At the same time, it was a critical skill for students to master because it is so important in this age of globalization. This study aimed to find out whether or not the Flower Writing Strategy was effective to be used in teaching writing descriptive text. The quasi-experimental method was used in this study. The sample of the study was 68 students taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The data was gained by using a written test. The data were analyzed by using a t-test. Based on the result of the independent sample t-test, it was found that t-obtained (3.439) was higher than ttable (1.9955) and pvalue (0.001) was less than άvalue (0.05). It meant that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) were accepted. Hence, Flower Writing Strategy was effective to be used in teaching descriptive text.

In teaching writing, teaching strategy and students’ self-confidence influence students’ writing skill. The research was conducted to find out the effect of Roundtable Strategy and students’ self-confidence on students’ writing skill of descriptive text. The design of this research was quasi experimental with 2x2 factorial design. The population of this research was the VIII grade students of SMP Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru, 2015/2016 academic year. Writing test and self-confidence questionnaire were used as the research instruments. Then, the data were analyzed by using t-test formula and two ways Anova. The result of this research shows that (1) students who were taught by using Roundtable Strategy had better writing skill in writing descriptive text than those who were taught by using Three Phase Strategy. It was proven by the result of t-test which showed that tobserved was bigger than ttable, (2) students with high self-confidence who were taught by Roundtable Strategy had better writing skill in descriptive text than those who were taught by using Three Phase Strategy, (3) students with low self-confidence who were taught by Roundtable Strategy had better writing skill in descriptive text than those who were taught by using Three Phase Strategy, and (4) there was no interaction between both strategies and students’ self-confidence toward students’ writing skill, where Fobserved (0.004) was less than Ftable (3.39). In conclusion, Roundtable Strategy had a significant result on students’ writing skill than Three Phase Strategy and there was no interaction between teaching strategies and students’ self-confidence toward students’ writing skill.

This research is aimed at to finding The Effectiveness of listen and draw Game towards Students’ Motivation in Learning listening at the Second Grade Students of MTs Aunul Ibad NW Beroro in Academic Year 2017/2018. The method of this research was applied is experimental research (quantitative approach). The population of this research was the students of MTs Aunul Ibad NW Beroro in academic year 2017/2018. The sample of the study was 36 students consist of two classes. The sample technique used in this research was cluster random sampling by using lottery. The technique which used to analysis the data was t-test and r-test formula. From the research data found out that the students’ t-test score (3,97) is highest than that the value of t-table (2.028 ). Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the use of listen and draw game is effectiveness in learning listening at second grade students of MTs Aunul Ibad NW Beroro and the result correlation between students’ motivation and listening, it shows r-test (0,99) > r-table (0,468). Based on the result of the study, it can be conclude there is correlation between students’ motivation and listening is accepted. In other word, alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.

This research aims at finding out whether or not the use of movie is effective in enhancing the vocabulary achievement and finding out the students’ interest toward the use of movie. The research employs a pre-experimental research method. The population of this research is all the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Panca Rijang in academic year 2017/2018. The samples consist of 20 students was taken based on random sampling technique. The research data are collected using vocabulary test which is analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The research result indicates that the use of movie is more effective in enhancing vocabulary achievement of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Rappang in academic year 2017/2018. The students’ result of posttest is higher than the students’ result of pretest (80 > 70. 625). The difference of those mean score is statistically significant; it is based on t-test value at significant level 0.05, the t- table is lower than t- test (2. 093 < 3. 54).
