Pre-test was administrated at the first meeting before teaching them by using each of the defined techniques for the students and post-test was given to the students at the same test after completing the treatment. Then, the researcher analyzed and compared the result of the pre test and posts test to measure the independent variable. The participants of the research were the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Suralaga, consists of 35 students. The research instrument used by the writer was oral question. The researcher asked the students to give respond based on the text given. This was aimed at knowing the students respond toward the reading text. After the data were collected, the researcher then analyzed them by using t test formula. The finding of the research showed that: mean score of pre test was 15.22, while mean score of post test was 20.87, and observed was 6.94. the table with df=n-1 (35-1=34) and significance level at 0.05 was 2.31. It is means that the treatment by using students oral presentation in enhancing students’ respond in reading text, there was a positive effect to students’ response in teaching reading

The objective of this study is to measure whether there is or not significant effect of teaching reading by utilizing Hot Potatoes software toward students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. The variables used were the teaching treatment of Hot Potatoes Software as the independent variable and the students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text as dependent variable. Then, the research designed was Quasi-experimental design and the presentation of data used was quantitative. The data were obtained from the eleventh grade, of which 28 students were taken as sample. The students are divided into two groups; experiment group consisted of 12 students and control group consists of 16 students. To get the data, the pre-test and post-test were applied and then analyzed using t-test formula. The researcher had concluded that there is Significant effect of Hot Potatoes Software toward the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The result showed that mean of students’ post-test was increased. It is proved by the t-test (8.54) which is higher than t-table (2.05) at level of significance 5%. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and it proved that Hot Potatoes Software had significant effect toward students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text

The objective of this research is to find out whether task-based learning teaching students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text to XI grade students of MA Darul Ihsan Cibungbulang Bogor. The research used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design by applying pre-test and post-test design. In this research, the writer only uses one class as the sample by using the purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the writer use tests as an instrument. The data was analyzed by using a t-test. The result of this research showed that using task-based learning method effective in teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text. It can be seen from the significance t-test from students’ pre-test and post-test scores that is 2.450>2.056. Based on the statistical calculation, using task-based learning method reached t calculation of 2.450 which was higher than t table of 2.056 at a significance level of 5%. It also stated a significant increase in mean score between students’ pre-test score (51.8) and post-test score (80). The statistical hypothesis revealed that there were differences between both tests. Therefore, using the task-based learning method can be effective for students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text.

This study was quasi-experimental design using two classes were VIII B class was taken as an experimental class, and VII-A was taken as control class. The population of this research involved 60 students from the second grade in MTs Tarbiyatul Mustafid Batu Simpang. By using purposive sampling, the researcher took the students as a sample. In collecting the data, this study used pre-test, treatment, and post-test as the data collection procedure then followed by analyzing the data by using the t-test formula. Then the result of statistical analysis of t-test in this research was 2.85. It was higher than critical values for t- table in the degree of freedom (df) of 58 is 2.021(0.05%) and 2.704(0.01%). The researcher concludes that mean score before and after teaching by using schema activation strategy has a difference. It means the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted. The use of schema activation strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the second-grade students of MTs Tarbiyatul Mustafid Batu Rimpang is effective.
