The paper summarizes results of the institutional research aimed at the determination of compressibility or values of the reduction of thickness of compressed plywood sheets. Assessing the effect of thickness and thickness tolerances of veneers to a value of compressibility in relation to production parameters was carried out on the collection of plywood whole-beech sheets of the nominal veneer thickness of 1.5 mm. The plywood sheets were manufactured as seven-ply ones and urea-formaldehyde resin DUKOL S was used for their manufacture. Following characteristics were assessed: thickness differences, size of shrinkage, compressibility of veneers. Sheets were pressed using a pressure of 1.5 and 1.7 MPa. Values of changes in the thickness of veneers in pressed veneer sheets and coefficients of compressibility of particular properties were then statistically analyzed. Basic economic evaluation was carried out of the effect of compressibility on the amount of production costs.

The 89Zr radioisotope is used in the field of tumor diagnostics, tumor therapy and the investigation of the biokinetic. The present work is investigated a suitable reaction to produce 89Zr..The Zirconium-89 excitation function via 89Y(p,n)89Zr, 89Y(d,2n)89Zr, natZr(p,pxn)89Zr, natSr(α,xn)89Zr and 90Zr(n,2n)89Zr reactions were calculated by ALICE-91 and TALYS-1.0 codes and the reaction of 89Y(p,n)89Zr has been selected. The calculated excitation function of 89Y(p,n)89Zr reaction was compared with the reported measurement and evaluations. Requisite thickness of targets was obtained by SRIM code for all above reactions except the 90Zr(n,2n)89Zr reaction. The 89Zr production yield was evaluated with attention to excitation function and stopping power for all above reactions except 90Zr(n,2n)89Zr reaction.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of some production parameters on the characteristics of butters made from whey, which is an important dairy by-product, and creams obtained from milk. The acidity values of milk, whey, cream, and butter were respectively detected as 0.17±0.00%, 0.13±0.01%, 0.22±0.01%, 0.24±0.01%, 0.26±0.00%, 0.25±0.01%, fat values were respectively detected as; 3.50±0.14%, 0.60±0.19%, 39.0±0.34%, 43.0±0.35%, 80.0±0.46%, 84.0±0.42% and protein values were respectively detected as; 3.30±0.19%, 0.68±0.03%, 0.93±0.12%, 0.54±0.03%, 0.51±0.02%, 0.58±0.00%. 10 saturated and 7 unsaturated fatty acids were detected in cream and whey butter samples. It was seen that the most common fatty acids were palmitic, stearic, myristic and oleic acid, and the amount of oleic, stearic and linoleic acid was higher in whey butter. In conclusion, we can state that whey, which is an important dairy residue, can be used as an alternative raw material in butter production.

Electrospun fiber scaffolds are gaining in importance in the area of tissue engineering. They can be used, for example, to fabricate graded implants to mimic the tendon bone junction. For the grading of the tensile strength of the fiber scaffolds, the orientation of the fibers plays a major role. This is currently measured by hand in scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. In this work, a correlation between polarimetric information generated by measuring the Mueller matrix (MM) and the orientation of the fibers of electrospun fiber scaffolds is reported. For this, the MM of fiber scaffolds, which were manufactured with different production parameters, was measured and analyzed. These data were correlated with fiber orientation and mechanical properties, which were evaluated in an established manner. We found that by measurement of the MM the production parameters as well as the relative orientation of the fibers in space can be determined. Thus, the MM measurement is suitable as an alternative tool for non-contact, non-destructive determination of the production parameters and, thus, the degree of alignment of electrospun fiber scaffolds.

In this study, in vitro gas production values, gas production parameters (a, b, a+b and c) and organic matter digestibilities (OMD), metabolizable energy (ME), net energy lactation (NEL) contents, chemical compositions and feed values of different physical processed (raw, soaked, boiled and roasted) common vetch seeds (Vicia sativa) were determined by in vitro gas production technique. Rumen fluid, used in this study, was obtained by probe from one Holstein bull (seven years old, average live weight= 650 kg) raised at Research and Application Farm of Agricultural Faculty Atatürk University. Raw and treated common vetch seeds were incubated for 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 48, 72 ve 96 hours for the determination of in vitro gas production values and gas production parameters in rumen fluid. It was observed significant differences among all of the common vetch seeds in terms of chemical composition (DM, CA, OM, CP, EE, NDF, ADF, ADL) values (P
