AbstractThis study among 725 male and 247 female police officers from The Netherlands examined the association between self-reported height and occupational rank from the perspective of sexual selection. Male and female police officers were taller than the average population. A larger percentage of women than of men was found in the lowest ranks, but in the leadership positions, there was a similar percentage of women as of men. Overall, but especially among women, height was linearly associated with occupational rank: the taller one was, the higher one’s rank. These effects were independent of educational level and age. The implications for evolutionary theorizing from the perspective of sexual selection on the effect of tallness on status and dominance among women are discussed.

ABSTRACTThe experiment was conducted using a survey method at 4 locations/district in the Southeast Minahasa Regency is Belang,Tombatu, North Tombatu, and East Tombatu. Each location/districts determined three paddy fields (repeats) as a place of observation and sampling. The study lasted for 10 months ie from January to October 2015. Sampling is done diagonally to the respective fields. So one rice field consists of 5 sub-plot as a point of sampling Samples are larvae present in the leaf roll. Implementation of the sampling carried out on rice plants vegetative phase once a week for 6 weeks. The results showed that the average population of C. medinalis (per-10 clumps) on paddy rice cultivation in Southeast Minahasa Regency highest found in the location of the North Tombatu 10.99, then Eastern Tombatu 10.44, Belang 10.43 and lows in the Tombatu 0.94. Observations of percentage of pests C. medinalis highest in Southeast Minahasa Regency found in the sample locations in the North Tombatu which reached 33.95%, Belang 32.51%, Eastern Tombatu 31.86%, and the lowest in the Tombatu 4.08%. Keywords : rice, Cnaphalocrosis medinalis

In 49 of 508 ESRD patients, CAPD failed because of peritonitis, constituting the leading cause of such failure. These patients were divided into two groups (I and II) according to frequency of peritonitis. Group I patients (n = 25) had frequent, recurrent peritonitis (one episode every 2.6 months) whereas, among Group II patients, unusual or severe peritonitis (fecal, fungal and TB) was more common -in the latter the frequency of peritonitis was similar to that in the average population. Fecal peritonitis constituted 19% of all the episodes which led to interruption of CAPD; most of these cases seemed to be the result of diverticulitis. We believe that patients at particular risk of developing diverticulosis i.e., those older than 50 years and those with polycystic kidneys, should have a barium enema; if extensive diverticulosis is found, they should be considered to be at high risk for development of diverticulitis and fecal peritonitis. Even though the decreasing incidence of peritonitis leads to an overall decrease in peritonitis mortality and CAPD failure, once peritonitis develops, patients have the same risk of dying or failing now, as they had five years ago. For this reason we must undertake further studies in order to improve our management of these patients.
