This study was aimed at developing and describing the feasibility of analytical thinking and science process skill instrument for Senior High School chemistry in the material of reaction rates. The study was conducted in fi ve senior high schools in Yogyakarta. The instrument development used the 4-D model including defi ning, designing, developing, and disseminating. Analytical Thinking and Science Process Skill (ATSPS) instrument was validated by expert judgement and chemistry teachers. The data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative methods. Findings show that evaluation of the the developed ATSPS instrument has a validity index of 0.95. Product evaluation of the instrument done by the Senior High School chemistry teachers obtained a score of 530 within the good category. The percentage of teachers’ responses to the chemistry assessment instrument is 88.33%. Therefore, ATSPS instrument is feasible to be used for measuring the knowledge and skills of the Senior High School students integratively.

Fostering teacher’s creativity can be facilitated by conducting Lesson Study (LS) which implementing Project-Based Learning (PjBL) using designing learning resources. This descriptive qualitative research was using a model teacher who did three open classes on ‘human reproduction system’ material and targeting the twelfth grade of senior high school students in Sumberpucung Malang as the research subject. The observers comprised three teachers and three lecturers. As for reflection in every open class, four students involved as the informants. The implementation of the model was considered very effective to improve the students’ learning activities, due to several reasons, namely: (a) almost all of the students were actively get involved in the learning process; (b) there was an improvement in the number of active students; (c) the instruction was positive to uplift the quality of classroom management; (d) the students were stimulated in formulating questions and giving opinions; (e) joyful learning was created; (f) most of the students had gained prior knowledge and comprehension of the given problems and concepts before they were presenting it.

The development of a Science Process Skills Approach-based Laboratory Work Instruction has been conducted on Heat of Reaction topic. The subject of the research is the students of class XI in Senior High School 2 Tanjungpinang. The research aims to determine the feasibility of laboratory work instruction in terms of the validity and practicality categories. In the category of validity, there are five aspects studied including the aspects of content feasibility, grammar, presentation, graphical design, and science process skills. The validation results obtained from three validators was 92.46% (very valid category). In the practicality category was conducted on 40 students. In this category, there are seven aspects studied, namely aspects of observing, classifying, interpreting, determining hypotheses, applying, designing experiments, and communicating. The result shows that a science process skills approach-based laboratory work instruction is categorized in the practical criteria (82.28%).

The problem of implementing Islamic values in the learning process is one of the concerns in Islamic-based schools, in particular, Rahmatan Lil’alamin Islamic Senior High School in Pontianak. This study aimed to develop learning media based on the Quran verses in the human reproductive system using Macromedia flash software. This research and development used three phases of the 4D model developed by Thiagarajan, namely define, design, and development. The development results were validated by expert appraisal consisted of instructional review (appropriateness, effectiveness, feasibility) and technical review (media and language). Instruments used in this study were interview guide sheet (define phase), validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and post-test for product trial (development phase). Product trials were carried out by testing large groups consisted of 64 students majoring in social science at Rahmatan Lil’alamin Islamic Senior High School. The expert appraisal results showed that media reached “very valid” criteria with the validation scores 83.33 (instructional review), 80.42 (media),  and 85.00 (language). Therefore, the flash media of Quranic-based human reproductive system material is potential to be used as media in teaching Islamic values integrated within the learning process.

<p>Two research objectives have been stated, namely improving student learning achievement and science process skill improvement. This two objectives were ascertained ofter the application of Guided Inquiry strategy towards junior high school student of Surakarta. This research was conducted upon junior high school student of SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta in academic year of 2011/2012. As in a classroom action         research, this research performed within 4 cycles and each consist of 4 phases namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The obtained data were analized descriptively ofter validated using split half method. The result showed that Guided Inquiry did a good job. According to the observation the percentage of science process skill had been improved from the baseline 50,62% to 54,43% in 2nd cyle to 64,57% in 3rd cycle and ended up by 68,48% in the last cycle. This it can be concluded that Guided Inquiry has given effects towards science process skill student learning achievement has also been improved from baseline. The cognitive achievement has been improved from 14,53% to 15,12% in 2nd cyle to 15,75% in 3rd cycle and ended up by 15,25% in the last cycle. This improvement can also been seen in the affective and psikomotoric as well. The affective achievement has been improved from 49,96% to 51,72% in 2nd cyle to 61,07% in 3rd cycle and ended up by 61,61% in the last cycle. The Psikomotoric achievement has been improved from 43,80% to 52,01%  in 2nd cyle to 62,72% in 3rd cycle and ended up by 71,93% in the last cycle. Hence it can be concluded that Guided Inquiry has considered as effective to improve learning achievement.</p><p> </p><p class="0jTULISANKATAKUNCIKEYWORDS">Key Words: Guided Inquiry, Science Process Skills, Achievement</p>

Science process skill and analytical thinking ability are needed in chemistry learning in 21 century. Analytical thinking is related with science process skill which is used by students to solve complex and unstructured problems. Thus, this research aims to determine science process skill and analytical thinking ability of senior high school students in chemistry learning. The research was conducted in Tiga Maret Yogyakarta Senior High School, Indonesia, at the middle of the first semester of academic year 2015/2016 is using the survey method. The survey involved 21 grade XI students as participants. Students were given a set of test questions consists of 15 essay questions. The result indicated that the science process skill and analytical thinking ability were relatively low ie. 30.67%. Therefore, teachers need to improve the students’ cognitive and psychomotor domains effectively in learning process.
