The current need for performance measurement and quality targets for services to users requires suitable performance indicators for libraries to use. This paper looks at the self-assessment audit tool for catalogue quality developed by UKOLN in collaboration with Essex libraries. For the tool a checklist of errors was drawn up, which can then be used to assess the quality of records within a catalogue using a sample of library stock. The tool can be used to assess the quality of catalogue records for monographs and non-book materials (but not serials), for complete collections or parts of collections and for records created at different periods. This paper describes the tool and the process of making the assessment and reports on the results of the pilot study carried out at the University of Bath Library in 2000.

Both mainstream and disability bioethics sometimes contend that the self-assessment of disabled people about their own well-being is distorted by adaptive preferences that are only held because other, better options are unavailable. I will argue that both of the most common ways of understanding adaptive preferences—the autonomy-based account and the well-being account—would reject blanket claims that disabled people’s QOL self-assessment has been distorted, whether those claims come from mainstream bioethicists or from disability bioethicists. However, rejecting these generalizations for a more nuanced view still has dramatic implications for the status quo in both health policy and clinical ethics.

The present article intends to identify the levels of satisfaction of the Faculdade do Litoral Paranaense ISEPE, in order to assess the results in relation to the five Dimensions structured in the Self-assessment being the Tangible Dimensions of Confidence, Responsibility, Security and Empathy. With that it adapted the model SERVQUAL developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry (2006) and with the scale of Likert establishing a structured questionnaire in order to establish a direct communication with the academics and users. The general objective of this work is to adapt this model to be used in the Institutional Self-Assessment process of the Faculdade do Litoral Paranaense - ISEPE Guaratuba, seeking to verify the feasibility of the use of these models. After the results obtained and analyzed during the research, it is necessary to appreciate the management of the Institution with the objective of improving the quality of the services provided by the Institution, which are included in the dimensions surveyed.

É fato que o ensino superior privado no Brasil, vem passando por grandes transformações ao longo dos últimos 20 anos. Neste cenário o presente artigo, tem como objetivo compreender os principais desafios da gestão no ambiente universitário. Para isso, realizamos uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo estudo de caso, onde utilizamos análise de documentos e questionário para coleta dos dados. Consideramos que o processo de autoavaliação realizado pela IES atrelado ao conhecimento do PDI pode ser um bom indicativo de possíveis saídas para a melhoria dos resultados e para a superação dos desafios apresentados pelos coordenadores de curso. AbstractIt is a fact that private higher education in Brazil has undergone major transformations over the last 20 years. In this scenario, this article aims to understand the main challenges of management in the university environment. For this, we carried out a qualitative research of the type of case study, where we used document analysis and questionnaire for data collection. We believe that the self-assessment process carried out by the IES, linked to the knowledge of the PDI, can be a good indicator of possible outcomes for the improvement of the results and to overcome the challenges presented by the course coordinators.KeywordsManagement Processes; Private Faculty; Challenges of University Management.

The aim of this article is to determine the particularities of the dynamics of the existential sphere components of future pedagogues in the process of professional education. The theoretical basis of the presented empirical research is O. Grebeniuk’s pedagogy of the individuality. The significant part of the concept of individuality is the existential sphere being a «dominatrix» of all individuality of a person. 63 undergraduates from 1-year of studying to 4 one with the major in pedagogy have taken part in the research. T. Grebeniuk’s diagnostic method of seven spheres of student’s individuality was used in this work. The research demonstrates students’ high assessment in the development of the components of the existential sphere. They understand its importance in the development of the individuality. The serious deference in the dynamics of the self-assessment of individual valuable positions and orientations has been determined. The qualitative improvements of «Self-concept» reflective processes and components happen in the 2-year of studying with the development of the ability of the self-analysis, deliberate self-respect and making a right choice. The existential sphere in the final year of studying becomes more complicated and at the same time there is a process of structuring: awareness of the inner world and moral self-assessment are in the centre of this process. It defines the development of the components of the existential sphere which reflect the development of the components of «Selfconcept» and provide the realization of the meaning of «Self-concept» in external active actions due to the desire of self-improvement. The development and self-development of the deliberate self-respect and the ability of analyzing the behavior should become the aim of psychological and pedagogical interactions between future pedagogues and their mentors as well as in the university and in resource centers. The significant potential in the development of the existential sphere of individuality is the system of specific pedagogical situations where the necessity of realizing a free choice appears.

The article describes an experimental study of persons with acquired disabilities, conducted in 2016 on the basis of the Center “Preodolenie” (Moscow). The study involved 30 people aged 40 to 75 years. The main objective of the study was increasing patients ‘motivation for rehanilitation using modification of the technique for diagnosing the self-appraisal of the Dembo-Rubinstein - corrective-diagnostic technique "Self-appraisal scale". In the pilot study, we had to assess the effectiveness of the corrective component of this method in terms of increasing motivation to rehabilitation. The results of the study indicate the probable effectiveness of this method. As we can see in more realistic subjects self-appraisal and the level of claims, as well as a depression and anxiety level decrease compared with the initial similar indicators.

Subjective well-being is the self-assessment of happiness, pleasure, satisfaction and quality of life, measured specifically and holistically. The assessment of subjective well-being is varied based on the area of focus of the researcher. Events that occur over some time also could affect an individual’s evaluation. Various factors assess well-being, such as character, love, wisdom, excitement and experiences leading to a good life. The evaluation of the positive and negative effects also affects the subjects’ emotions and mood during a study. Earlier studies showed that well-being is not merely related to income and ownership, but issues on health, activities, personality, emotions, mood, family, environment and various other factors. Therefore, this article aims to discuss aspects, assessment methods, theories and progress based on articles, books and research related to subjective well-being. This study utilises the literature review approach to collect data on subjective well-being. The finding shows that the level of subjective well-being is diverse and dynamic, and not limited to certain aspects and factors that could affect humans. The growth of conflicts in a changing world makes conflict resolution competence an important component of entrepreneurial competencies. Higher education should empower students to effectively prevent and resolve conflicts. The problem of assessing the educational process in the field of conflict resolution training and the result of this training is discussed in this article. The authors cite the results of an empirical study, the purpose of which was to determine the needs of students of the State University (Chelyabinsk, Russia) with regards to conflict management preparation. The survey relied on an analysis of the self-assessment of students´ own skills and commitment to the principles of tolerance, an assessment of the educational process, and the need to increase their own conflict management competence. 152 students of the State University took part in the survey, of which 63 were male and 89 female. The Likert scale was used. The results of the study showed that students assess the level of their own conflict resolution competence as high, as do they the educational process at the university. The limitations of the study are discussed at the end of the article.

Objective:To systematically evaluate published patient-reported outcome measures for the assessment of hearing function and hearing-related quality of life, and subsequently recommend measures selected by the Response Evaluation in Neurofibromatosis and Schwannomatosis International Collaboration (REiNS) as endpoints for clinical trials in Neurofibromatosis Type 2.Methods:The REiNS patient-reported outcomes working group systematically evaluated published patient-reported outcome measures of (1) hearing function and (2) hearing-related quality of life for individuals with hearing loss of various etiologies using previously published REiNS rating procedures. Ten measures of hearing functioning and 11 measures of hearing-related quality of life were reviewed. Measures were numerically scored and compared primarily on their participant characteristics (including participant age range and availability of normative data), item content, psychometric properties, and feasibility for use in clinical trials.Results:The Self-Assessment of Communication and the Self-Assessment of Communication-Adolescent were identified as most useful for adult and pediatric populations with NF2, respectively, for the measurement of both hearing function and hearing-related quality of life. Measures were selected for their strengths in participant characteristics, item content, psychometric properties, and feasibility for use in clinical trials.Conclusions:Currently, REiNS recommends the Self-Assessment of Communication adult and adolescent forms for the assessment of patient-reported hearing function and hearing-related quality of life for clinical trials for neurofibromatosis type 2. Further work is needed to demonstrate the utility of these measures in evaluating pharmacological and/or behavioral interventions.

Food choices for adopting a healthy lifestyle are influenced by a set of factors. Early adulthood and university entry are crucial for the development of eating habits that will be decisive in quality of life. In Portugal, there are few studies that assess the nutritional status of university students. The main objective of this study, as a pilot study, was to characterize the dietary habits of university students at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal. This cross-sectional descriptive study included university students, aged between 18 and 28 years old. Anthropometric data were collected, and body mass index was calculated. The dietary habits were assessed through a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, administered directly. The average daily intake values were: energy, 2282.9 ± 954.0 kcal, 243.2 g of carbohydrates, 114.2 g of proteins, and 100.9 g of lipids. These values include a protein intake of 25.40%, 52.11% carbohydrate and 22.47% lipids. It was concluded that there is an increase in protein and lipid intake in samples from the university students evaluated.
