One of the matters that seem to preoccupy all the more the researchers of ICT and the sociologists, along with the parents and teachers, is the relationship between the child and the products of new age technology, especially the internet. And the results this relationship could have in personal and social level in important institutions like family and teaching and in important functions like writing and speaking. Having the study of the representations an important field of the social and anthropologic research the recent years, able to offer in the comprehension of the social operations and the relations of power they encompass, email language is proven all the more a rising field of research. This is not only attributed into the “inner status itself” of the email that offers a combination of “writing” and “oral” logos along with “new technology”, but is equally attributed into the “external dynamics” that the social subjects whom correspond carry into the e-mail communication.. Because as email brings “together” persons from a diversity of origins and a variety of cultures, its language is filled with various social, cultural and psychological connotations. All the more, having western world the recent decades (due to mass immigration and the intercultural societies that were evolved), to meet “the disappearance of the Self and the State” as we knew it, it is worth trying to explore the dynamics of this procedure using one of society’s orienting concepts. Communication. In this framework an email correspondence between a girl of Greek origin living abroad (a girl from “Diaspora”) and a native Greek girl seems an intriguing case of research but also a case that requires an equally complicated method of analysis. Using a synthetic method, (combining the theories of Wierlacher, Gennete and Bachelar), in other words a method able for us to bring forth not only the linguistic but also the psychological parameters that intervene in correspondences between people of different sub-cultures, we tried primarily to exhibit the complexity of those correspondences and secondly to locate interesting data. We should point though, that this was an experimental research from the point of humanities, and more specifically from the point of Intercultural Linguistics, in a brand new field and we should wait the new researches that already follow to justify or un-justify its results. In both cases this research probably will prove its value being one of the first question marks in a strange yet exciting new field of interest.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between children's prosocial behavior and self-regulation skills. To collect the data of the study, demographic information form developed by the researcher was used for the demographic information of children, the prosocial behavior sub-dimension of the social behavior scale was used for the prosocial behavior, and the self-regulation skills scale was used for the self-regulation skills of the children. The collected data were analyzed by independent sample t-test, Pearson’s product moment correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis in a computer package software. As a result of the research, while the self-regulation and prosocial behaviors of children differed according to gender and age of children, the situation of the children whether they have siblings and duration of the pre-school education did not make any significant difference. According to these results, girls' self-regulation and prosocial behavior scores were higher than that of boys and 6 years of age children’s scores were higher than that of 5 years of age children. While there was a moderate positive significant relationship between self-regulation skills and prosocial behavior, it was concluded that the prosocial behavior of children predicted self-regulation skills at the level of 11%.   Keywords: Prosocial behavior, self-regulation skills, early childhood, preschool

LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in Chinese; abstract in English only.In the dominant discourse of the "human–machine relationship," people and machines are the subjects, with a mutually shaping influence. However, this framework neglects the crux of the current critical analysis of AI. It reduces the problems with new technology to the relationship between people and machines, ignoring the re-shaping of the relationship between "people and people" in the era of new technology. This simplification may mislead policy and legal regulations for new technologies. Why would a robot killing cause more panic than a murder committed by a human? Why is a robot's misdiagnosis more troubling than a doctor's? Why do patients assume that machines make more accurate diagnoses than doctors? When a medical accident occurs, who is responsible for the mistakes of an intelligent medical system? In the framework of traditional professionalism, the relationship between doctors and patients, whether trusted or not, is based on the premise that doctors have specialized knowledge that patients do not possess. Therefore, the authority of a doctor is the authority of knowledge. In the age of intelligence, do machines provide information or knowledge? Can this strengthen or weaken the authority of doctors? It is likely that in the age of intelligence, the professionalism, authority and trustworthiness of doctors require a new knowledge base. Therefore, the de-skilling of doctors is not an issue of individual doctors, but demands an update of the knowledge of the entire industry. Recognizing this, policy makers must not focus solely on the use of machines, but take a wider perspective, considering how to promote the development of doctors and coordinate the relationship between doctors with different levels of knowledge development. We often ask, "In the era of intelligence, what defines a human?" This philosophical thinking should be directed toward not only the difference between machines and people as individuals, but also how the relationship between human beings, i.e., the social nature of humans, evolves in different technological environments. In short, this commentary stresses that a "good" machine or an "evil" machine—beyond the sci-fi romance of such discourse—reflects the evolution of the relationships between people. In today's smart age, the critical issue is not the relationship between people and machines. It is how people adjust their relationships with other people as machines become necessary tools in life. Self-compassion refers to the extension of kindness to oneself when faced with feelings of inadequacies, shortcomings or failures. It is possible that individuals high in autistic traits may encounter difficulties with self-compassion, and this could be particularly pronounced due to the social challenges they might face. To explore this potential relationship, we recruited university students and members of the general population to an online survey (n = 176). Participants completed measures on demographics, autistic traits, and self-compassion. We found that autistic traits were indeed negatively correlated with self-compassion in both males and females. Interestingly, a comparison of the slopes showed significantly stronger relationships in males compared to females for the negative (but not the positive) subscales of the self-compassion scale. Although speculative at this point, it is possible that self-compassion acts as a mediator between autistic traits and psychopathology. With this in mind, further work is warranted to determine whether self-compassion could be a target for therapeutic intervention.

With the advent of new technologies, the man begins to experience a significant change in the perception of the other, time and space. The acceleration of time promoted by new technology does not allow the exercise of affection for the consolidation of ties, relations take narcissists hues seeking immediate gratification and the other is understood as a continuation of the self, the pursuit of pleasure. It is the acceleration of time, again, which leads man to present the need for immediate, always looking for the new – not new – in an attempt to fill an inner space that is emptied. The retention of concepts and pre-stressing of temporality are liquefied, become fleeting. We learn to live in the world and the relationship with the other in a frivolous and superficial way. The psychic structure, facing new phenomena experienced, loses temporalize capacity and expand its spatiality, it becomes pathological. Post-modern inability to retain the past, to analyze the information received and reflect, is one of the responsible for the mental illness of today's society. Discorre acerca das teses de Rousseau atinentes à confluência entre Do Contrato Social (reflexão política) e o Emílio ou da Educação (reflexão educacional). Exibe a ideia de paradoxo da liberdade presente na teoria política de Rousseau. It discusses Rousseau's theses concerning the confluence between The Social Contract (political reflection) and Emílio or Education (educational reflection). It shows the idea of the paradox of freedom present in Rousseau's political theory. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara empiris hubungan antara konsep diri dengan kebermaknaan hidup pada remaja putri di Panti Asuhan Sunu Ngesti Tomo Jepara. Hipotesis yang diajukan yaitu ada hubungan positif antara konsep diri dengan kebermaknaan hidup pada remaja di Panti Asuhan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua remaja  penghuni panti asuhan di bawah UPT Dinas Sosial Propinsi Jawa Tengah. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja penghuni Panti Asuhan Ngesti Tomo Jepara, berusia antara 15 sampai 21 tahun. Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan  purpossive sampling dengan jumlah sampel 51 orang. Kedua variabel dalam penelitian ini diukur dengan menggunakan skala kebermaknaan hidup dan konsep diri. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik korelasi product moment. Hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai korelasi rxy = 0,595 dengan p= 0,000 (p < 0,01). Hal ini menunjukkan ada hubungan positif yang sangat signifikan antara konsep diri dengan kebermaknaan hidup pada remaja di Panti Asuhan Sunu Ngesti Utomo Jepara. Artinya semakin tinggi konsep diri yang dimiliki remaja maka, semakin tinggi pula kebermaknaan hidupnya. Sebaliknya semakin rendah konsep diri yang dimilikinya, maka semakin rendah pula kebermaknaan hidupnya. Hasil dari uji korelasi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima. Kata kunci : konsep diri, kebermaknaan hidup, remaja, Panti Asuhan.  SELF CONCEPT AND LIFE MEANINGFULNESS AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN ORPHANAGE Abstract This study aimed to empirically determine the relationship between self-concept and meaningfulness of life among adolescent girls in the orphanage Sunu Ngesti Tomo Jepara. The hypothesis proposed that there is a positive relationship between self-concept and meaningfulness of life in adolescents at the Orphanage. The populations in this study were all young residents of the orphanage under the Social Service Unit of Central Java Province. The samples in this study were juvenile orphanage residents Ngesti Tomo Jepara, aged between 15 to 21 years. The sampling method using purposive technique whereas the amount of samples amount was 51. Both variables in this study were measured using a scale of meaningfulness of life and self-concept. Data analysis technique used is product moment correlation technique.The results of analysis of data obtained correlation values rxy = 0.595 with p = 0.000 (p <0.01). This suggests there was a very significant positive relationship between self-concept and meaningfulness of life in adolescents at the Orphanage Sunu Ngesti Utomo Jepara. This means that the higher the self-concept that the adolescent has, the higher the meaningfulness of life. Conversely the lower the self-concept has, then the lower the meaningfulness of life. This chapter explores the relationship between the activity of design and conversation—particularly as developed in Gordon Pask’s Conversation Theory. Design and conversation are seen as analogous, so that design can be understood as a conversation held, generally, with the self (via paper and pencil). I argue that design has been a conversational activity since long before we started exploring conversation, and that design education is, itself, also conversational. This being so, conversational approaches are already the norm in design education. The benefit of considering design and conversation together in an educational setting is not so much to improve one or the other, but to understand each better through the mirror the other provides. Other aspects of design (such as the social working in the studio) are also related to this conversational understanding. It is argued that design is a powerful, alternative and fundamental way of working and being in the world, not poor science, and that Pask’s conversation theory helps us better understand both its power and its validity.

Drawing on the works of Henri Lefebvre and Chris Butler, chapter four explores the relationship between justice, aesthetics, and (the right to) the city through the 2012 Spanish film Grupo 7 directed by Alberto Rodríguez. Based on real events, the film follows a police unit tasked with cleansing the touristy downtown of Seville of prostitution and drug trafficking in order to convey an image of modernity for the Universal Exposition of 1992.  By inviting viewers to experience the violent transformation of Seville, the film makes visible pervasive forms of violence (crime, police brutality, and corruption) concealed behind the promises of modernity. It exposes the ways in which the state and the law shape the social body, organize relations of power, and distribute the sensory order—meaning who and what are included or excluded and who and what are visible or invisible—in a way that erases difference and diversity. The chapter argues that rather than offering a solution, the film constructs a haptic aesthetic where the city’s suburbs and outskirts, its messiness and noise, generally all brushed off by the logic of progress and modernization, cannot be left out from the viewer’s sensory experience of the city.

To investigate the relationship between shyness and egocentricity in both psychiatric (hospitalized) and nonhospitalized groups, 162 adult men and women diagnosed as paranoid or undifferentiated schizophrenic, and a control group of 162 nonhospitalized individuals matched for age and gender were studied. Shyness was assessed on the Social Reticence Scale and egocentricity by the Self-focus Sentence Completion. Analysis indicated that the patients were more shy than nonhospitalized individuals. Paranoid schizophrenics were not different from undifferentiated schizophrenics on egocentricity and the Self-focus Sentence Completion subscales. Nonhospitalized individuals and the mental hospital patients were egocentric on the Self-focus Sentence Completion. For this reason, relationships among shyness, egocentricity, and psychopathology could not be demonstrated.

The increase in railway speeds and the transition to unmanned transport control result in the growth of the role of operational management technologies exempt from excessive control of corporate headquarters. The objective of the work is to study the subsidiaritybased control as a new technology of controlling moving objects, and to identify borders of its efficiency. A subsidiarity-based control’s feature is that its efficiency may be revealed under certain conditions only and not always. Therefore, the application of subsidiaritybased control requires an analysis of operating conditions of vehicles. Subsidiarity-based control is an alternative to hierarchical control which is more efficient under simpler conditions. The paper reveals the essence of subsidiarity in the social and engineering field, and results of the study on application and applicability of subsidiarity-based control for the railways, its core factors are analyzed. Comparison of signal block and subsidiarity-based control systems is made, followed by description of particularities of identification of the size of blocks within subsidiarity-based control system. Additional factors of subsidiarity-based control, comprising complementarity and astatism, are described. The relationship between subsidiarity-based management and control and implementation of digital railway concept is shown.
