Perceraian orangtua berdampak negatif bagi subjective well-being pada remaja yang menjadi korban dari perceraian tersebut, oleh karena itu perlu adanya sense of humor agar remaja mampu kembali merasakan kebahagiaan dan mencapai kesejahteraan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empirik ada atau tidaknya hubungan antara sense of humor dengan subjective well-being pada remaja dengan orangtua yang bercerai di Kota Samarinda. Subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 150 orang remaja yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Satisfication with Life Scale (SWLS) dan Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) untuk mengukur variabel subjective well-being dan skala sense of humor kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment menghasilkan nilai r hitung = -0.159 dan p=0.052>0.05. Hasil perhitungan tersebut menunjukkan tidak adanya hubungan antara sense of humor dengan subjective well-being pada remaja dengan orangtua bercerai di Kota Samarinda. Parents divorce has a negative impact on subjective well-being in adolescents who are victims of the divorce, an adolescents need to have a sense of humor that able to feel happiness and prosperity. This study aims to empirically examine relationship between sense of humor and subjective well-being in adolescents with divorced parents in Samarinda. The subjects in this study were 150 teenagers who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study are Satisfication with Life Scale (SWLS) and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) to measure subjective well-being and sense of humor scales and then analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test resulting in the value of r = - 0.159 and p = 0.052 > 0.05. The results of these calculations indicate that there is no relationship between sense of humor and subjective well-being in adolescents with divorced parents in Samarinda.

Abstract Saudade is a psychological reaction to the absence of significant others or familiar places. The correlates of the experience of saudade were examined using a sample of Portuguese adults. Two hundred and twenty-seven participants of both genders, aged 20–65, were presented with (a) the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), (b) the Positive and Negative Affect Schedules (PANAS), (c) the brief Loneliness Scale (ULS-6), (d) the Neo Five-Factor Personality Inventory (NEO-FFI), and (e) an experience of saudade two-item scale. Experience of saudade was more often reported by females than by males, and positively correlated with negative affect, loneliness, and neuroticism.

The present investigation examined the influence of materialism and gratitude on subjective well-being under two different conceptualizations of this construct: subjective well-being as a construct with three independent components and subjective well-being as a second other factor with three first order factors. 386 participants from Mexico completed a battery of questionnaires measuring gratitude, materialism, positive and negative affect and life satisfaction. Results showed a negative influence of materialism on positive affect, life satisfaction and overall sense of subjective well-being and a positive influence on negative affect. Gratitude had a positive influence on positive affect, life satisfaction and overall sense of subjective well-being. Results also showed that gratitude did not influence negative affect directly, but indirectly through its influence on overall sense of subjective well-being. The implications of our findings were discussed.

There are two aims in this article, to define subjective quality of life and to suggest a way to standardize its measurement to enable comparisons to be made across studies. One of the unresolved issues in gerontological research has concerned the definition and measurement of quality of life (Lawton, 1991). This article focuses on subjective well-being, one of the four components proposed by Lawton (1991). There seems to be a growing consensus that most scales of well-being have at least two concepts in common, positive and negative affect. To test this hypothesis, two well-being scales, the Philadelphia Geriatric Center Morale Scale (Lawton, 1975) and the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (Radloff, 1977), were subjec ted to confirmatory factor analyses, using data on 1717 participants in the Australian Longitudinal Study of Ageing aged between 70 and 103 years. Each scale was shown to contain factors of positive and negative affect. The article concludes with a suggestion that the measurement of quality of life in elders should include, at a minimum, scales of positive and negative affect as well as other measures relevant to the aspect of quality of life under consideration.

Introduction: The prevalence of older individuals experiencing a fall is high. Moreover, falls can have deleterious effects on health status. Additionally, falls can affect the subjective well-being of individuals. However, there is a lack of studies examining the link between falls and subjective well-being. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate whether the onset of falling is associated with (intraindividual) decreases in subjective well-being in men and women.Materials and Methods: Longitudinal data (from wave 5 to wave 6) were taken from a population-based sample of individuals residing in private households in Germany [in our analytical sample: 3,906 observations (men), and 3,718 observations (women)]. Positive and negative affect were quantified using the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). Life satisfaction was assessed using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS).Results: Adjusting for various potential confounders, fixed effects regressions showed that the onset of falls was associated with a decrease in positive affect (β = 0.08, p < 0.01), and an increase in negative affect (β = 0.07, p < 0.01) among men. While the onset of falls was not associated with changes in positive affect in women, it was associated with a decrease in negative affect in women (β = 0.06, p < 0.05). Sex differences were significant. The onset of falls was not associated with decreases in life satisfaction in men, nor in women.Discussion: The present study particularly highlights the link between the onset of falls and reduced affective well-being among men. Avoiding falls may contribute to maintaining affective well-being among middle-aged and older men.

Abstract Aging is associated with declines and challenges, yet better subjective well-being. Life satisfaction is one aspect of well-being that may be sensitive to daily challenges. Daily memory lapses (e.g., forgetting words or meetings) are common and relevant for many adults. How individuals emotionally respond to challenges like memory lapses is a factor that could determine whether these experiences affect well-being. In a coordinated analysis of two datasets (N=561; ages 25-93 years) using multilevel modeling, we examined whether affective changes related to memory lapses mediated the relationship between memory lapses and life satisfaction. Results were similar across datasets: memory lapses were associated with reduced positive affect and increased negative affect. These associated affective changes also mediated the relationship between lapses and life satisfaction. We discuss the potential implications of our findings for linking proximal events and distal outcomes, and potentially intervening and identifying common challenges to mitigate broad reductions in well-being.

  Perpisahan dalam jangka panjang yang dialami oleh remaja dan orang tua yang merupakan pekerja migran dapat membuat kualitas hubungan yang terjalin mengalami perubahan dan tidak lagi menjadi dekat. Ketika remaja tidak memiliki hubungan yang dekat dengan orang tua, mereka mulai menjalin kedekatan dengan teman sebagai gantinya. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan antara kelekatan pada orang tua dan teman sebaya dengan subjective well-being (SWB) remaja yang ditinggalkan orang tua bekerja sebagai pekerja migran. Partisipan penelitian terdiri dari 42 remaja berusia 12 - 15 tahun. Kedekatan dengan orang tua dan teman diukur menggunakan alat ukur Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, sementara subjective well-being diukur menggunakan alat ukur Satisfaction with Life Scale, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, dan Subjective Happiness Scale. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kelekatan pada ayah dengan kepuasan hidup dan kebahagiaan serta hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara kelekatan pada ayah dengan afek negatif. Selain itu terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kelekatan pada ibu dengan komponen afek positif dan hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kelekatan pada teman sebaya dengan kebahagiaan. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin secure kelekatan dengan ayah membuat remaja semakin puas dan bahagia serta membuat semakin rendahnya afek negatif yang dirasakan. Semakin secure kelekatan dengan ibu juga membuat remaja memiliki afek positif yang tinggi dan semakin secure kelekatan dengan teman sebaya membuat remaja semakin bahagia.

Abstract Objectives The present study examined differences by race/ethnicity in the measurement equivalence of the Subjective Well-Being Scale (SWBS) among older adults in the United States. Method Drawn from the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS), adults aged 65 years and older from three racial/ethnic groups (n = 1,200) were selected for the analyses from a total of 8,245: 400 non-Hispanic Whites, 400 African Americans, and 400 Hispanics/Latinos. We tested measurement equivalence of the SWBS that is categorized into three domains: positive and negative affect (four items), self-realization (four items), and self-efficacy and resilience (three items). Multiple-group confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test measurement invariance. Results After adjusting for age, gender, and education, the underlying construct of the SWBS was noninvariant across three racial/ethnic elderly groups. Discussion Findings suggest that the comparison of latent means (especially for positive and negative affect and self-realization) across racial/ethnic groups is highly questionable. The SWBS should be used with extreme caution when it is applied to diverse racial/ethnic elderly groups for comparison purposes. Implications are discussed in cultural and methodological contexts.

Perceraian memiliki dampak bagi anak seusia remaja. Reaksi remaja atas perceraian memengaruhi kesejahteraan diri, cara mengatasi masalah dan pencapaian target masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empirik ada atau tidaknya pengaruh koping berfokus emosi dan harapan terhadap kesejahteraan subjektif remaja dengan orangtua bercerai di Kota Samarinda. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 150 remaja dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini Satisfication with Life Scale (SWLS) dan Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) untuk mengukur variabel kesejahteraan subjektif, skala koping berfokus emosi, dan skala harapan. Teknik analisa data menggunakan uji regresi model berganda menghasilkan  nilai F hitung = 517.902 > F tabel = 3.09, adjust R square = 0.914, dan p = 0.000. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh antara koping berfokus emosi dan harapan terhadap kesejahteraan subjektif pada remaja dengan orangtua bercerai di Kota Samarinda. Divorce has its own impact on adolescent. Adolescent reactions to parental divorce affect their inner well-being, how to deal with problems and affect the archievement of future targets. This study aims to empirically examine whether or not there is an effect of emotional d=focused coping and hope on the subjective well-being of adolescent with divorced parents in Samarinda City. The subjects of this study were 150 adolescents with divorce parents in the city of Samarinda selected using purposive sampling terchnique. The measuring instrument used in this study the  Satisfication with Life Scale (SWLS) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (HOT) to measure subjective well-being variables, the coping scale focused on emotions, and the Hope scale to measure the expectation variable.Data analysis technique using multiple model regression test resulted in calculated F value = 517.902 > F table = 3.09, adjust R square = 0.914, and p = 0.000. These result indicate that there is a significant influence between emotional focused coping and hope on the subjective well-being of adolescents with divorced parents in Samarinda City.
