This study, carried out within a critical realist orientation, offers a digital approach to providing language learning resources to learners in KwaZulu-Natal by developing a language learning object repository (LLOR). The purpose of designing and setting up a LLOR prototype was to find a way to augment and supplement the resources provided by text books, the provision of which has hitherto been fraught with service delivery problems. Margaret Archer’s substantive theory of morphogenesis was used to provide a social science framework within Bhaskar’s critical realist meta-approach. The morphogenetic approach suggests that, for technological advances to be accepted as part of everyday educational practice, they must be included in the fabric of the existing social structures of teaching and learning. This had implications for the human computer interaction (HCI) aspects of the artefact, which was developed by both anticipating user needs at the outset and confirming these at intervals; it also looked at the development of digital resources over a period of time in terms of the artefact being part of a larger movement towards using digital resources. The iterative design of the LLOR followed a series of piloting different application stacks, including MediaWiki, TikiWiki CMS and Joomla. Moodle was chosen as the most suitable application as it facilitates the sharing of content using the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and can also easily be packaged in an offline self-contained pack for distribution to users who have limited Internet access. Three user groups, comprising experts (those who are proficient with web and computer technologies), teachers (a representative group of teachers who were second language teachers of English) and a representative from the Department of Basic Education (DOBE), were asked to test-drive the LLOR and respond to questions about its ease of use and potential. The LLOR was primarily intended for teachers although it supports students as well. The use of a user-contributed model in the design of the LLOR anticipates i the challenge of providing direct support (editorial), as in adding new resources by only the researcher and also accepting that consumers are more likely to support user-contributed models, if they are also contributors. The key to facilitating access to resources like the LLOR is to make them accessible through different devices especially mobile platforms such as (cell-phones and tablets); future development will prioritise a mobile ready version of the LLOR. The value of the research is thought to lie in furthering an innovative mode of teaching in a digital medium setting where educational communication achieves virtual mode in and out of the physical classroom.

Hypnoteaching is a new learning method in Arabic learning. Various kinds of Arabic language learning methods have developed before, such as the lecture method, memorizing vocabulary and Arabic rules. But the method makes students feel bored in learning because it cannot make students enjoy learning so that learning outcomes are better. Starting from the development of hypnoteraphy in various functions and uses such as health, psychological to the world of education which is then called hypnoteaching. This method is a new learning method in Arabic that uses students 'positive suggestions to reach students' subconscious. This innovation is an acute hypnoteraphy with teaching so as to produce a new method as an alternative choice in the selection of fun Arabic learning methods. This research is a library research that seeks to find the literature that is in accordance with the theme of the discussion then analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that hypnoteaching fulfilled the requirements as a new method in Arabic learning. This is one of the innovations in Arabic learning methods that can be used today. Because this method maximizes students' subconscious, so learning can achieve maximum results with fun learning.

The aim of this article was to investigate how police investigation leaders learn leadership and whether the facilitation of learning activities and learning methods might bridge the well-known gap between teaching and learning leadership. Using action research, we constructed an ‘i-leader’ learning pool consisting of police investigation leaders. The pool provided interactive and collaborative learning activities that included reflection, knowledge sharing and social support. Participants were receptive to this learning initiative, but also argued that ‘learning by doing’ is most important because it allows for communication and cooperation between colleagues in the context of their everyday leadership practice. They acknowledged the need for reflection and argued that the pool provides important reflection time, which they lack in their everyday practice. Participants also found the learning methods, particularly the ‘group support methodology’ and the new network useful for their own leadership development. However, using these new learning methods ‘back home’ was more challenging. Participants did not have time to prioritize and develop this new network. Providing learning methods and building a network takes time and must be relevant to everyday leadership practice. The significance of their leadership practice and how to accumulate experience as the basis for reflection was acknowledged, but still needs to be applied within leadership practice. Bridging the gap between teaching and learning is not just about providing learning and reflection methods, but also about learning how to apply new knowledge through experience, where reflection ensures that learning in practice is not ‘due to change’.

The study highlights the development of poetry learning instrument using  Smart Application Creator (SAC) 2.0 program for Android. The study belongs to a Research and Development (RnD). The initial exploration included the observation of the Indonesian Language learning instrument utilized by a number of secondary schools which are the former education institutions of the students of Indonesian Language and Literature Department (PBSI) of University of Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo. The result of observation became the underlying framework for the development of poetry learning instrument through the SAC 2.0 program for Android. The design of the learning instrument development refered to the four-D model development that consists of four stages, including define, design, develop, and disseminate. The development model was firstly developed by Thiagarajan, dkk. The findings revealed that Android-based learning instrument had yet been massively utilized for secondary schools. Most of the teachers still rely on the PowerPoint presentation which is displayed through the projector. The development of the learning instrument that refers to the 4D stages has successfully provided an innovative Android-based poetry learning instrument. The instrument has also been disseminated publicly. The new learning instrument is easy in its installation and application through Android devices.   Keywords: android, learning instrument, poetry instrument, smart application creator 2.0.   Abstrak   Penelitian ini mengangkat pengembangan media pembelajaran puisi dengan menggunakan program Smart Aplication Creator 2.0 berbasis andoid. Repositories provide mechanisms to encourage the discovery, exchange and re-use of learning objects. This paper describes Portals for On-line Objects in Learning (POOL), a consortium project of the TeleLearning NCE to build a learning object repository scalable to the national level. Funded in part by the Canarie Learning Program, POOL contributes to the development of two focal technologies: “POOL POND and SPLASH” a distributed architecture for a peer-to-peer network of learning object repositories, and CanCore, a practical metadata protocol for cataloguing learning objects.

The development of foreign language learning in Indonesia in the millennial era nowadays requires the child to speak at least two foreign languages fluently. As in the case that the researcher founded which is a dual citizenship 10 years old child studying French as his third language. The study then focuses on 1) what third language learning’s steps for a 10 years old goes through, 2) at which stage each method is properly used, and 3) what factors influence that success. The data of this research is processed quantitatively and qualitatively. This study uses Skinner’s behaviorism theory, conventional reading and audio visual learning methods. The researcher found that the two methods complement to each other in the third language learning for dual citizenship Abstrak Perkembangan pembelajaran bahasa asing di Indonesia pada era milenial sekarang menuntut anak dapat menguasai minimal dua bahasa asing.
