Unter Bezugnahme auf Philosophie und Mathematik schlägt dieser Artikel allgemeine Formeln für das Digitale und das Analoge vor, wobei das Digitale als das Verhältnis der diskreten Terme (a/b), das Analoge als eine Verhältnisgleichung (a/b = c/d) definiert sind. Mit diesen allgemeinen Formeln zur Hand werden wir in der Lage sein, zwei der häufigsten operativen Ontologien (Digitalität und das Analoge) zu erforschen und gleichzeitig ein ontologisches Szenario zu enthüllen, in dem keines der beiden zutrifft. Taking into account both philosophy and maths, this article suggests general formulas for both the digital sphere and the analogue, defining the digital sphere as a relation of discrete terms (a/b) whereas the analogue is described as a proportion (a/b = c/d). Falling back on those general formulas, one will be able to study two of the most frequently used operative ontologies (the digitality and the analogue) while at the same time unveiling an ontological scenario to which none of the aforementioned ontologies apply.

The Internet has become a central place for protest communication: the organization of protest actions, the networking of potential activists, the dissemination of information, the calling for participation in protest actions, and the mobilization of support for protest concerns. All these and other practices have migrated from the analog to the digital sphere of publicity on the Internet. Thus the forms and strategies of public protest and activism have also changed and expanded. The article traces the special conditions of protest mobilization on the Internet. Against this background it examines different types of activist online videos with their specific audiovisual rhetorical strategies.

Статья посвящена анализу социальных эффектов цифровой трансформации, происходящей в столичных мегаполисах (на примере Санкт-Петербурга и Минска), их влиянию на жизнедеятельность пожилых людей. Цифровая трансформация в данной статье рассматривается в двух аспектах - как внедрение цифровых технологий в повседневную жизнь (в том числе в контексте феномена «умный город») и как цифровая трансформация сферы труда (постоянно воспроизводимый процесс ее цифровизации). В контексте ее социальных эффектов акцентируется внимание на таких явлениях, как техноэйджизм (исключение пожилых людей из цифровой сферы) и связанный с ним техностресс. The article is aimed to analyze social effects of digitalization using the example of the elderly in big city. Digitalization in this article is considered in two aspects: as introduction of digital technologies in everyday life (as well as «smart city»); and digital transformation of professional practices. Special attention is paid to such phenomena as techno-ageism (exclusion of older people from the digital sphere) and related technostress.

In 2017, I developed “Entering the Lady’s Dressing Room,” an Interactive Fiction game based on Jonathan Swift’s satiric poem “The Lady’s Dressing Room” (1734) to help my students become better readers of Restoration satire, and poetry generally. I did this for two reasons: to test whether the digital mediation of game-playing could help my undergraduate students more fruitfully engage with the poem, and 2) to theorize the similarities between poetic interpretation, the multiple narrative-making experience of game-playing. This article takes seriously the idea that poetry is play. It describes the circumstances that led to the development of the game and why Swift’s poem seemed an appropriate site for such experimentation. Crucial to game construction is a commitment to theories feminist game design that complement the poem’s own indictment of sexist determinism. With meditations on the affinity between poems and games, an examination of preceding experiments of literary translation into the ludic digital, details on game construction and local objectives, this article reflects on how digital mediation suggests a self-conscious mode of reading as a phenomenon of fictional world building. I don’t mean to suggest that this approach is necessarily appropriate for every poem or that every poem can be translated into the digital sphere in this way; rather, I want to share how the case of Entering the Lady’s Dressing Room suggests that the experience of translating a poem into Interactive Fiction can contribute to the formation of careful, detail-oriented reading practices in undergraduate readers. And poetry, if nothing else, is about the details.


Significance Beijing aspires to establish a China-centred digital sphere by providing partner countries with telecommunications hardware, online services, satellites and space-based services, and, potentially, an alternative crossborder payments system in the form of the ‘digital yuan’. Impacts Developing countries will become less dependent on European and US digital infrastructure. The ‘digital yuan’ could weaken US control over international financial transactions. BeiDou satellite navigation will reduce the strategic leverage Washington enjoys as a result of controlling GPS.
