This paper examined the socio-economic profile of farm households in the cotton belt of Rural Punjab. The result revealed that as a whole, more than two-thirds fall in the working-age group of 15-59 years. The average size of the family worked out to be 5.74 and the average size of owned land holdings was 11.50 acres. The data highlights that 34.96 percent were earners, 31.39 percent were earning dependents and 33.65 percent of the persons were dependents. The major proportion (88.46 percent) of total sampled households followed Sikhism and as many as 87.50 percent were from the general category. About 23 percent of the sampled persons were illiterate and literacy levels were found to be positively linked with the size of landholdings. About 34 percent of the heads of sampled farmer households were illiterate and the majority of the heads of sampled farmer households had education below secondary level. None of the heads among marginal farmers had obtained education up to graduation level, whereas, this proportion was 7.41 for the large farmers. The study points out that overall only 11.54 percent of the sampled farm households read the newspaper. There is a need for effective measures which could enhance the educational and awareness levels of farmers and their family members for raising their levels of living.

The present paper is an attempt to analyze the socio-economic profile of the labour households in rural Punjab. The study revealed that majority of rural labour households belonged to the scheduled caste category. As far as the distribution of sampled rural labour households according to the family type was concerned, it was found that 46.42 percent of the total rural labour households had nuclear families, while the remaining 53.58 percent have joint families. Majority of the rural labourers were living in semi-pucca houses. Further, if we look at the housing condition, 54.72 percent of rural labourers owned the houses of average condition, 40.19 percent owned good condition households and 5.09percent owned dilapidated houses. The analysis further showed that as many as 20.35percentof the sampled labour population was illiterate. A few persons from sampled labour households educated above matric. Although large majority of the sampled labour population were from the working-age group yet the ratio of dependents was high among rural labour households. This was due to lower employment opportunities in rural areas.

Abstract Hydration is a particular concern for infants and young children due to their greater risk of dehydration. However, studies on their water intakes are scarce. The current survey aimed to analyze total water intake (TWI) in non-breastfed children aged 0.5-35 months compared to the adequate intake (AI) for the same age group set by the EFSA and to examine the different contributors to TWI as well as beverage consumption patterns. Nationally representative data from the Nutri-Bébé cross-sectional survey were used to assess food, beverage, and plain water consumption by age group over three non-consecutive days. With age, median TWI in 1,035 children increased from 732 to 1010 mL/d, without differences between sex, but with a great inter-individual variation, and the percentage of children who did not meet the AI increased from 10% to 88%. Median weight-related TWI decreased from 136.6 to 69.0 mL/kg/d. Among infants, 90% had a ratio of water/energy below the AI, similarly for about 75% of toddlers. Milk and milk products were the main contributors to TWI, while the part of plain water increased gradually to be 25% in the older toddlers, half of which was tap water. The beverage consumption pattern varied in types and timing, with little consumption of juices and sweetened beverages. Vegetables and fruits accounted for 20% of TWI after the age of 6 months. These initial results, showing strong discrepancies between actual and recommended water intakes in young children, should help identify ways to increase children’s water consumption.

Global health issues are a global burden and are relatively common in industrialized societies. The World Health Organization and researchers have developed and rebuilt tools to report the burden of disease affecting mortality and health of the people. Apart from America and Europe, which are at an average of global burden for mental health disease, in some regions it is a major priority to be addressed globally. In South East Asia, one of the affected regions is Kashmir, Northern Indian. Disasters have manifested in various forms encompassing the natural calamities of earthquake, flood, landslides and manmade calamities of violence. Trauma due to manmade calamities has taken over as a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among the most productive working age group of 12-35 years. The chapter aims to understand the patterns of resilience in people surviving war and conflict in Kashmir over last 60 years. The focus is on the young population of society. Generations in Kashmir have faced the psychosocial impact of ongoing political conflict since the 1980's.

A recent change in the geography of poverty in Britain has been reported: it appears to be becoming more evenly distributed in major cities, such that low-income individuals are less likely to be living in the highest poverty areas. Studying all local authority areas in England between 2005 and 2014, this paper finds that this phenomenon is strongly differentiated by age group and local authority type. Poverty amongst children and working age people is becoming more evenly distributed in almost all local authority types, with the largest changes occurring in the most urban areas. The change is strongly associated with the increasing proportion of low-income households living in private sector housing. Conversely, there is evidence of an increasing residential concentration of poverty at older ages. The paper also proposes a method for decomposing a change in rates between changes in the numerator and changes in the denominator. It concludes by discussing the implications of these findings for area effects, area-based initiatives and gentrification by displacement.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by pathogenic bacteria. The bacillus is transmitted mainly through the coughing mechanism, in addition to sneezing and speech, which are responsible for releasing droplets of saliva. In Brazil, 69,569 new cases of tuberculosis were confirmed in 2017. In the Brazilian state of Amapá, still in 2017, there were 237 new cases of tuberculosis reported. The objective of this work is to compare the percentage of confirmed cases of tuberculosis in Brazil, in the North region, in the state of Amapá and in the municipality of Macapá, between the years 2013 and 2017. Data were collected on the DATASUS website. Co-infections as well as alcoholism, drug use, urban agglomerations and the individual’s nutritional status can also represent factors that increase tuberculosis cases. Social vulnerability and little primary health care also favor an increase in these numbers. Having a Tropical Diseases Reference Center (CRDT), which also includes the Testing and Counseling Center (CTA) and Therapeutic Home Assistance (ADT) helps in detecting cases, streamlining and controlling the treatment of patients. Men in the working age group are more affected due to their necessary social interaction for work.

Coffee beverage consumption has become more important in the recent years and has touched the lifestyles of the old and young people. The research of coffee consumption, especially in relation to the lifestyles of the people, therefore needs to be intensified. The purpose of this study was to compare the contribution of regulation and lifestyle in determining coffee drink consumption among old and young consumers. The theory adopted was the SOR (stimulus-organism-response) theory and the AISAS (attention-interest-search-action-share) model approach. Data were collected online in April-May 2020, and obtained 413 valid respondent data, which consist of 207 old respondents and 206 young respondents. The results showed that the lifestyle variable had positive effects on attitude and search behavior of both young and old generations. The lifestyle variable also had significant effects on coffee consumption for both generations. The regulation variable had positive effects on attitude and action of young coffee consumers, but it had no effect on attitude, search and action of old consumers. The research suggests that, to increase coffee consumption, better regulation approach should consider the age of the consumer. Especially, more attention should be paid for the regulation on coffee marketing for older generation.

Currently, fractures of the middle face area remain a serious problem of maxillofacial traumatology because there is not only an increase in the number of injuries to the bones of the facial skull, but also the sever character of these injuries, and an increasing number of post-traumatic complications. This is due to the increase in crime, alcoholism, the proliferation of weapons among the population, the increase in traffic accidents, and injuries in the war zone. The purpose of the study was a retrospective analysis of the features of the damage to the middle face area of patients in a large industrial region. Material and methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the injury features of the middle face area in 416 patients who became patients of the department of head and neck surgery for the period from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2019. Results and discussion. The study results showed that the vast majority (χ2 = 529.9; F = 0.000000; p <0.05) of patients were male. Men had by 79.3 (OR = 79.29; F = 0.000000) times higher risk of middle face injury than women. The risk of traumatic face injury in women increased with the age. Thus, in the group of women aged 61+ it was by 29.6 times higher than in the group of women aged 21-30 (OR = 29.6; F = 0.003203). The greatest number of injuries was observed in the age group of 21-30 years. Assessment of the injury risk in this age group showed that it was by 35.5 times higher than in the group of patients aged 61+ and by 2.1 times higher than in the group aged 31-40. Conclusion. The main etiological factor of injuries of the middle face area was domestic trauma, which was 369 (88.7±1.5)% of cases, which was significantly more (χ2 = 498.5; F = 0.000000; p <0.05) than other types of injuries. The risk of domestic injury was by 61.6 times higher than other types of injury. The study results proved that criminal injuries had the highest frequency among all types of injuries (50% of all types of injuries), fall injury was on second place (38%), and road accidents injuries were on third place (7%). A significant majority of the middle face injuries had men, the number of women with injuries of the middle face area increased significantly with the age. The largest number of patients (71.4%) with injuries of the middle face area occurred in the age groups 21-30 and 31-40, that is people of working age
