It has been more than a year since the first issue of the International Journal of Maxillofacial Prosthetics (iJMP) was published. During this period, the editorial board has been working hard towards the aim of bridging the gap in various aspects of maxillofacial prosthetics and its related fields by provides a unique platform for all maxillofacial prosthetic publications. Although the number of articles in maxillofacial prosthetics has rapidly increased in the last ten years in various prosthodontic journals, many researchers are still not aware that there is a new journal dedicated to our field. To counter this issue, iJMP has worked from the beginning to have international renowned experts in various specialities of maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation to serve on its advisory board. The editorial board also includes many young maxillofacial prosthetic professionals and researchers who are enthusiastic to bring the journal up to the highest standards of scholarly publishing.

Dear Reader, On the 22nd of February this year, INDIAN DRUGS celebrated its 55th Annual Day at the IIT Bombay campus in Powai. 55 years of publishing a Scientific Journal regularly every month is truly an accomplishment of which I am grateful to be able to contribute to. I sincerely appreciate all our Editorial Advisory Board and Editorial Board Members and the large number of reviewers who took time off and actively participated in the celebrations. The enthusiasm and support of all present at this grand event is an indication of the commitment to the cause of improving the quality of pharmaceutical research being conducted in India. THIS THOUGHT-PROVOKING SYMPOSIUM ORIGINATED IN A small conference organized at the London School of Economics by Government and Opposition and the papers printed here have been revised — in many cases extensively — by their authors in the light of the discussion there. With a single exception (Sir Arthur Knight) all the contributors are members of the Editorial Board or the Advisory Board of Government and Opposition, and the idea for the symposium was first put forward by one of the Editors, Professor Isabel de Madariaga.The central issue addressed in the symposium is the adequacy or otherwise of the sciences, natural and social, in providing the information required by people in various capacities — as citizens, business leaders, politicians, judges, and so on — if they are to act intelligently.

The research topics of the 39 papers published in the International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making (IT&DM) in 2009 can be classified into three major directions: decision support, multiple criteria decision making, and data mining and risk analysis. The Editor, Advisory Board, and Associate Editors of Macroeconomic Dynamics extend their heartiest congratulations to Finn Kydland and Ed Prescott as the co-recipients of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Economics.Finn has served on the MD advisory board since the journal's founding, and his advice during the journal's formative years has helped make MD the success it is today.Much of the work which the Nobel Committee cited as the basis for awarding the prize to Finn and Ed was done while Ed was a junior faculty member at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration (now the Tepper School of Business) at Carnegie Mellon University, and while Finn was earning his doctorate at GSIA. As a result, the Board thought it would be appropriate to include a brief explication of the significance of Finn and Ed's work written by one of Finn's current Ph.D. students at Carnegie Mellon, Espen Henriksen. Espen is currently working to complete his thesis under Finn's supervision.
