Abstract There are two ways of approaching an ontological debate: ontological realism recommends that metaphysicians seek to discover deep ontological facts of the matter, while ontological anti-realism denies that there are such facts; both views sometimes run into difficulties. This paper suggests an approach to ontology that begins with conceptual analysis and takes the results of that analysis as a guide for which metaontological view to hold. It is argued that in some cases, the functions for which we employ a part of our conceptual scheme might give us reasons to posit ontological facts regarding certain objects. The proposed approach recommends ontological realism about an object just in case our conceptual scheme gives us reason to. This yields a mixed overall metaontological view that adopts ontological realism to some issues and ontological anti-realism to others, and that avoids the difficulties that typically arise for the two views.

http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1808-1711.2016v20n2p285 The understanding of conceptual relativity in Putnam’s and Kuhn’s writings should not be restricted to the claim that the existence is relative to, but not in virtue of, a conceptual scheme. This approach does not capture some significant differences between their positions about the notion of conceptual scheme. We understand that the thesis of conceptual relativity contains a statement about the close relationship between conceptual scheme and content, and another claim about the differences between conceptual schemes. Based on these two formal requirements, we propose a reconstruction of the Putnam’s treatment of it and show how it can be understood from Kuhn’s perspective of scientific development. We defend that, although both fulfill a critical role against metaphysical realism, they are applied to distinct domains: while Putnam’s conceptual relativity is in the record of the conceptual structure of scientific theories and presupposes a choice between cognitively equivalent conceptual schemes, Kuhn considers the field of the dynamics of development of science. Thus, we note relevant scientific cases of conceptual relativity that do not involve semantic incommensurability.

In the last two decades, there has been a great deal of interest in providing an intentional criterion of the psychological. Of the various ones proferred, it seems to me that the best was the earliest, which was Chisholm’s initial criterion in his 1955 essay “Sentences about Believing.” In this present paper I first single out a basic misconception pervading the recent literature on intentionality and suggest that a consequence of this misconception has been the futile attempt to use the notion of intentionality to provide a kind of definition of “mind”; that is, to use intentionality to provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the psychological. Secondly, I point out how intentionality as captured by my own criterion is indispensable in that it is an essential property of certain particulars (persons) which are basic to our conceptual scheme and apparently basic to any conceptual scheme whatsoever.

The present work analyses 8 models of social marketing (1984-2008) that appear in the specialised literature. Because each of them presents important elements, here appeared the necessity of an integrative simplified model. The premises for creating the T Model for the implementation of social marketing in the Republic of Moldova are: the need for behavioural change programs, the limited development of social marketing, low knowledge of health specialists on the concept of social marketing, creative but fragmented use of social campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle. The T Model can be taken over by other countries where the concept of social marketing is not sufficiently promoted and where public health specialists do not have advanced knowledge in this field. The model is a practical tool, described in terms of: the basic principles, the conceptual scheme and the methodological steps of implementation.

Abstract This paper presents the concept and implementation of the Green Browser, which enables designers and consumers to share environmental information. We propose the conceptual scheme of the Green Browser called green life cycle model. This model is intended to represent the product’s environmental impacts over the stages of raw materials, use, recycling, and disposal. The Green Browser has been implemented using WWW and MOO to be able to deal with the strategy model, which is the key element of the green life cycle model. A case study on building the strategy model of refrigerator is presented to illustrate the strategy model.
