Zinc-tris thiourea sulphate (ZTS) is one of the promising semiorganic nonlinear optical materials; it is useful for nonlinear optical applications. The grown crystals were subjected to single crystal Xray diffraction, UV-visible spectrum, FTIR, microhardness and SHG studies. Single crystal X- ray diffraction analysis revealed that the grown crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with space groupPca21 . Various functional groups present in the sample were identified by FTIR analysis. UV visible transmittance spectrum shows that the wide transmittance and lower cut-off wavelength. The mechanical property of the grown crystal has been analysed by Vickers microhardness test. Second harmonic generation was confirmed by using Nd: YAG laser. The second harmonic generation results confirmed that the crystal has better nonlinearity than KDP crystal.

The semi-organic nonlinear optical single crystal of L-glutamic acid hydrochloride was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The cell parameters of the grown crystal were estimated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of various functional groups was identified from Fourier transform infrared analysis. The transmission spectrum of this crystal show that the lower cut-off wavelength lies at 248 nm. Thermal analysis was performed to study the thermal stability of the grown crystal. The Kurtz powder second harmonic generation test shows that the crystal is a potential candidate for optical second harmonic generation. Mechanical properties of the grown crystal were determined and Vickers' hardness number was calculated.

Single crystals of a new semi-organic nonlinear optical material glycine hydrobromide were grown from solution by slow evaporation at room temperature. Good optical quality single crystals with dimensions 17×8×5 mm3 were obtained. The grown crystal had been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and the vibrational frequencies of various functional groups in the crystals had been derived from Fourier transform infrared spectrum. The optical quality of the grown crystals was analyzed by the Ultraviolet visible spectrum method. The mechanical behavior of the grown crystal was evaluated by Vickers' micro-hardness indentation method. The nonlinear optical property of the crystal was confirmed by the Kurtz powder technique using Nd : YAG laser as a source.

Manganese doped alpha-lithium iodate have been synthesized and single crystals have been grown for nonlinear optical applications. The grown crystal has been subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction to confirm the structure. The crystalline perfection was assessed by high-resolution X- ray diffractometer (HRXRD). Second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was found to be 71 times than that of KDP. The UV–Vis-NIR spectroscopic study revealed that the grown crystal has good optical transparency in the visible region clearly indicates that Mn doped α-LiIO3 crystals can be used as window material in optical instruments. Presence of dopant was confirmed by energy-dispersive spectrometry.

Single crystals of bis 2,5-dimethylanilinium sulfate (bis 2,5-DAS) were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The crystalline nature of the grown crystal was confirmed by the single crystal X-ray data. Bis 2,5-DAS crystal was found to crystallize in monoclinic system with non-centrosymmetric space group Cc. The various functional groups presented in the crystal were confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopic studies. Optical transmittance of the grown crystal was studied by UV–Vis–NIR spectroscopy. The dielectric loss and dielectric constant measurement as a frequency and temperature were measured on bis 2,5-DAS single crystal. The thermal stability and decomposition stages of the grown crystal were studied by TG-DTA analysis. Microhardness measurements revealed that bis 2,5-DAS belongs to a soft material category. Laser damage threshold studies were carried out for the grown crystal. The second harmonic generation of the crystal was confirmed and the efficiency was measured using Kurtz Perry powder method.
