Assessment is part of the learning cycle, so that assessment cannot be separated from a learning activity. The Minister of Education and Culture said that the implementation of the 2020 National-Based School Examination will be carried out with exams held by schools. The exam is conducted to assess student competence and can be done in the form of a written test or a comprehensive assessment such as portfolios and assignments. This portfolio can later be done through group assignments, paper work, and so on. Researchers want to know the extent of school readiness, teachers' perceptions and knowledge of portfolio assessments, types / forms of portfolio assessments that have been carried out in schools, and constraints in implementing portfolio assessments. The research was carried out in superior junior high junior high schools in the the Special Region of Yogyakarta, namely SMPN 1 Bantul and SMPN 4 Pakem. The implementation of the portfolio assessment carried out at SMPN 1 Bantul and SMPN 4 Pakem went very well and was effective because it was supported by school members (school principals, educators, education staff, students, parents, and the community) through various policies and concrete actions carried out consistently and the seriousness of the school in supporting the program.

This was a descriptive qualitative study which was done in 2017 at junior high schools in Semarang Central Java, Indonesia. This study focused on the teachers’ perception and teaching writing using word games. According to Chastain (1988) "writing is a basic communication skill and a unique tool in the process of second language learning" (p.244). The problem of this study was what are the teachers’ perception towards the word games used in enhancing the students’ writing skill? The sample of the research were 6 junior high schools’ students in Semarang central java, Indonesia. They were students of grade eighth at SMP N 8, SMPN 39, SMPN 36, SMP Institut Indonesia, SMP PGRI Semarang, and SMP Theresiana Semarang. A structured interview was kindly used as the instrument in collecting the data. The findings are; 1) Teaching writing is not easy and need to be creative to make students understand since they have to master the way hoe to organize a good paragraph or text. 2) Usually they do not apply any games in teaching writing since they got the material for granted. 3) Most of the teachers have known what word game is. Even they have applied it sometimes in speaking and vocabulary. 4) Teachers rarely do teaching English using word games by purpose. Especially teaching writing, teachers do not really pay attention on the current skill. 5) Even though some teachers do not really understand the way to use word games in the case of implementation but then, they are aware that students need a motivation in a space of teaching and learning process during filling the material. 6) Teachers like teaching writing using word games because word games can help them to motivate students in following the questions since the love playing while learning in the classroom. 7) teachers can motivate students to follow the lesson with fun, teachers easily follow the word games because it is equipped by the clear instructions, there are various word games which are related to teaching skills, word games are easily made/created by teachers based on the need of the lesson plan, word games are the simplest media to teach and long life. 8) word games which applicable to teach writing using word games are entitled broken sentence, mixed story, arranging sentence in a story, and getting occupation. The conclusions are The teachers’ perceptions towards teaching writing using word games are; teachers feel happy and fun during teaching writing using word games, teachers need more energy and time to maintain the word games, teachers should focus on the goal of writing mastery not the game itself, teachers should be creative in creating and organizing the word games, and teachers believe that word games are able to motivate students in following the lesson.  Key words: teachers’ perception, teaching writing, word games

Student worksheet science based on process image is a printed material that presents a series of images of objects (objects, events, or phenomena), the images in the series between each other always appear to be relatively different in terms (state, position, shape, Combinations) which as a whole illustrate a coherent stage of events in a unified whole. A student worksheet is able to facilitate students in reviewing the material independently, so that materialised learning the science of student centred learning. The purpose of this study is to examine the use of student worksheet based on the image of light concept process for practical and effective junior high school student learning. This research design uses one group pretest-posttest design. The result of the research shows that learning activity is increasing up to reach 83,18%, and respondent gives a positive response with 'good' criterion. N-gain increased understanding of the concept of light by 0.628 on moderate criteria and supported with retention of 99.6%. The use of student worksheets based on the image of light concept process is practical and effective for improving students' understanding, as well as knowledge can be stored for longer in student memory.

Teacher competence is one of the supporters of the successful implementation of education. The purpose of this study will be to explain the competency strengthening model for Islamic religious education teachers carried out by junior high schools in Jember Regency. This research is a qualitative research with a narrative approach. The main data sources in this study consisted of school principals and teachers in the district of Jember totaling 10 people consisting of Islamic religious education teachers and school principals. The selection of participants used purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews and observations. The analytical technique used in processing the data is by reducing the data, presenting the results and interpreting the data. The results showed that there were three models of strengthening teachers' pedagogic competencies. First, training to equip and strengthen the knowledge, skills and attitudes of teachers in teaching. Second, mentoring is carried out to direct teachers in strengthening skills. Third, the supervision carried out by the principal to measure and provide an assessment of the competence of teachers who have been trained and assisted. The research that has been produced is expected to be the basis for making policies on strengthening competence for teachers in the future. Subsequent more in-depth research is very helpful in adding information about similar research.


Servant leadership has been widely applied in various fields, both in educational organizations or companies and reveals that servant leadership is a leadership style that is relevant and suitable for the development of a leadership style in the 21st century where a principal leader must be able to serve the needs of teachers, education staff, and students in accordance with the demands of the development of science and technology which are very dynamic. This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective servant leadership model of school principals in Junior High Schools. This research is an R & D research by using the ADDIE model, namely analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation that is carried out in junior high schools in Agam Regency. Data collection techniques used instrument sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. Data were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative analysis. The servant leadership model validation is determined based on expert responses. The practicality of the servant leadership model is determined based on the response of experts and school principals to the practicality of this model. The effectiveness of the servant leadership model is determined by the results of the expanded trial by the principal in Agam regency. The results of this research, it is obtained a principal servant leadership by producing products in the form of model books and school principal manuals that are valid, practical, and effective to use. The principal to improve leadership qualities namely can use the findings in this research, models of servant leadership are humanists, touches the heart in unity work logic, and actions that led to the creation of the atmosphere of the work.

This study aims to analyze the effect of E-Leadership and social interaction both partially and simultaneously on the managerial competence of junior high school principals in Dumai City. The population of this study were 37 people consisting of 22 State Junior High Schools and 15 Private Junior High Schools in Dumai. The sample of this research was a saturated sample, that is, the entire population were sampled. Data collection techniques were using questionnaires for the variables E-leadership, social interaction, and managerial competence of school principals. The data analysis technique used in this research was descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence between the variable E-Leadership (X1) and social interaction (X2) on the managerial competence of school principals (Y) SMP in Dumai City 19.4%. This means that the better the E-Leadership and social interaction of the principal, the better the managerial competence of the principal.
