Background. T-cell response is shifted towards Th2-type predominance in newborns. This makes them particularly vulnerable to exposure of various external pathogens, development of severe infections, moreover, it is also a risk factor for allergic diseases development. Various methods of switching the immune response to Th1-type are currently under research, and one of them is vaccination.Objective. The aim of the study is to provide data on the prevalence of allergic pathology among children vaccinated against tuberculosis and hepatitis B, as well as the effect of vaccines on immune response type.Results. Data on both increase and decrease in the prevalence of atopic conditions in children vaccinated with BCG and against hepatitis B were analyzed, thus, most of them cannot be considered reliable. The results of several large studies do not reveal any correlation between vaccination and the presence of allergic disease in children. There is data that BCG and hepatitis B vaccines shift the immune response towards Th1-type activation.Conclusion. Vaccination in the early neonatal period may affect switching of the immune response towards Th1-type. That, in turn, can affect the prevalence of allergic pathology in vaccinated children. However, the data available for now is not sufficient to reliably estimate the possible effect of vaccination on atopic conditions manifestation in the future.

The article reflects the literature data on the immune response mechanisms to rotavirus infection. The authors note that innate immunity factors play the leading role in protecting the organism from rotavirus. They demonstrate that both cellular and humoral components of the immune system are important in the pathogenesis of rotavirus infection. The protective effect is based on the activation of interferon and other cytokines, as well as TLR – innate immune receptor for double-stranded rotavirus RNA. The authors also describe the age-related aspects of the immune response, which cause a higher susceptibility to rotavirus in the neonatal period and its reduction with age.

ABSTRACT The hematological and immunological development of calves from birth to 6 months of age was performed by hemogram and cellular phenotype. Ten male Holstein calves were assessed in 13 moments: before colostrum intake (D0), every 2 days until the 10th day of life (D2 to D10), at the 15th day after birth (D15), and then monthly up to 6 months (D180). Calves presented hemoconcentration on day (D) 0 and showed a gradual decrease in hematimetric rates until D180. The inversion of the neutrophilic for lymphocytic profile was observed on D4. The percentage of CD3+ cells on D10 was higher than D30 up to D180. The number of CD4+ and CD8+ cells did not change between time points. The number of CD21+ lymphocytes was significantly higher at early time points of D0 up to D15, compared on D30 until D150. In conclusion, the neonatal period was marked by stress leukogram in the first 4 days, and low number of B lymphocytes. These might be risk factors for bacterial infections responsible for navel inflammation and diarrhea. The increase in the number of B cells from 30 days of age demonstrated that the calves were functional and able to generate an immune response.
