The goal of this research was to investigate the effect of electrical conductivity (EC) levels of the nutrient solution on the fresh weight, chlorophyll, and nitrate content of hydroponic-system-grown lettuce. The selected cultivars are the most representative commercial varieties grown for European markets. Seven cultivars (‘Sintia,’ ‘Limeira,’ ‘Corentine,’ ‘Cencibel,’ ‘Kiber,’ ‘Attiraï,’ and ‘Rouxaï’) of three Lactuca sativa L. types’ (butterhead, loose leaf, and oak leaf) were grown in a phytotron in rockwool, meanwhile the EC level of the nutrient solutions were different: normal (<1.3 dS/m) and high (10 dS/m). The plants in the saline condition had a lower yield but elevated chlorophyll content and nitrate level, although the ‘Limeira’ and ‘Cencibel’ cultivars had reduced nitrate levels. The results and the special characteristic of the lollo-type cultivars showed that the nitrate level could be very different due to salinity (‘Limeira’ had the lowest (684 µg/g fresh weight (FW)) and ‘Cencibel’ had the highest (4396 µg/g FW)). There was a moderately strong negative correlation (−0.542) in the reverse ratio among the chlorophyll and nitrate contents in plants treated with a normal EC value, while this relationship was not shown in the saline condition. Under the saline condition, cultivars acted differently, and all examined cultivars stayed under the permitted total nitrate level (5000 µg/g FW).

The experiment was carried out during the winter season 2019-2018 in Al-Hartha district, Basrah Governorate to study the effects of fish by-product prepared by Alcalase and Flavourzyme enzyme as a foliar application on lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) yield and quality grown under salinity conditions. Fish by-product protein hydrolysate was spray-applied (3 and 6ml. L-1) additional to control treatment (spraying with water) referred to (T0-T4) at four (S4), six(S6) times after 20 days transplanting at10-day intervals. Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D.) was used as factorial experiment. Treatment means were compared by using Least Significant Differences (L.S.D.) at a probability of 0.05. The results showed that spraying with protein hydrolysates had a significant effect on most studied characters compared to control treatment. Results showed that foliar application with (T2) significantly increased the total leaves number, leaves area, carbohydrate ,proline, shoot fresh weight of plant, dry matter, total soluble solids (TSS %) and total yield additional to significantly decreased in nitrate contents, while foliar application with (T4) significantly increased in the plant height and stem height. The results showed that spraying six times (S6) were significant increases in these growth characters comparing with four sprays (S4). The interaction between treatments and spraying number show significantly increased in some characters, the (T2 S6) had the highest value shoot fresh weight 762.5g and total yield 17.899 tone.donum-1.

The research aims to determine the growth and production response of two varieties of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) to the provision of various sources of nitrogen. This research was conducted in Lambar village, Tigapanah sub-district, Karo regency, Sumatera Utara Province with altitude of ± 1200 meters above sea level, which started on July to September 2017. This research used a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors namely varieties of lettuce (crop and lettuce) and sources of nitrogen (urea fertilizer, chicken manure and Liquid organic fertilizer of rabbit urine). The parameters observed were plant height, greenish leaves, crop circle, fresh weight of plant per sample and fresh weight of plant per plot. The results showed that both varieties were significantly different in the parameters of plant height, greenish leaves, the number of leaves, and the fresh weight of the plant per sample. Application of nitrogen source showed differences in plant height at 10 weeks after move planting and fresh weight of plant per sample.

This research has an aim to observe the production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) on hydroponic technology of floating system with red and blue LED (Light Emitting Diode) at night. This research was conducted inside the Screenhouse in which located on the top of Griya Kads House building, Bulusan Village, Tembalang Sub-district from May to June 2017. The research was conducted by 3x3 factorial experiments in Nested Design with 3 replications. The first factor was 0, 1.5 and 3 hours irradiation of red and blue LED lights at night. The second factor was 3, 5 and 7 ml/liter of AB mix nutrient concentration which was nested in the first factor. The data collected were fresh weight, dry weight and root canopy ratio. The results of the study showed that the treatment of AB mix nutrient concentration had no significant effect on all parameters. The production of lettuce with level of 5 ml concentration of AB mix was quite good, yet 3 ml and 7 ml levels didn’t improve lettuce production. The duration of red and blue LED irradiation only resulted in an increase in the production of canopy fresh weight. This research can be concluded that 3 hours was sufficient to give the good results to improve the results of lettuce plants production. The study aims to determine the influence of chicken manure dose on growth and yield on three kinds of lettuce (Lactuca sativa, L.) planted in a polybag. This research was conducted from November 2019 until January 2020, in Gerdu Village, Karangpandan District, Karanganyar Regency, between 450 - 650 m above sea level. The research used a factorial method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist of two treatment factors. The first factor is dose of chicken manure consisting of 3 levels (D1 = 62.5 g/ polybag, D2 = 125 g / polybag, D3 = 187.5 g/ polybag). The second factor was varieties of lettuce (V) consist of 3 types (V1 = Grand Rapids Variety, V2 = Kriebo Variety, V3 = Bisi SL 02 Variety). Analysis of variance was used to analyzed the data, with the F test at 5% and 1% levels and then followed by Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. The results showed that chicken manure dosage significantly affects fresh weight and consumption weight per plant. The best dose of chicken manure for the treatment is 125 g / polybag. The varieties significantly affected plant height, fresh weight, and consumption weight and significantly affected leaf width per plant. The interaction between the dose of chicken manure and varieties of lettuce (DxV) showed the best results on the combination 125 g / polybag chicken manure dose with the Kriebo variety (D2V2). This treatment combination gives the highest consumption weight, which is 76.52 g. While the treatment combination of 62.5 g / polybag chicken manure dose and Bisi SL 02 variety (D1V3) had the lowest consumption weight (39.68 g).

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of NPK doses and proper plant spacing in lettuce growth and production. The experiment was conducted in Wirimpalennae Village, Tempe Subdistrict, Wajo Regency from January to March 2017. The experiment employed randomized block design with 2 factor factorial namely NPK doses (300 kg/ha, 350 kg/ha, 400 kg/ha and plant spacing (20 x 25 cm, 25 x 25 cm, 25 x 40 cm). The result showed that the interaction between NPK doses and plant spacing were significantly influenced the fresh weight of lettuce. The highest yield of lettuce was 2,16 kg/Ha (12 t/Ha) produced by the combination of NPK dose (350 kg/ha) and plant spacing (25 x 25). The interaction of NPK dose and plant spacing treatments were not significantly influenced others parameters

Aquaponic is considered one of alternative culture system to improve production and quality of leafy vegetables by combining soil less culture and fish farming. Utilization of fish manure contained in waste water provides nutrient sources for growing plants. Three kinds of leafy vegetables including water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica F.), green coral lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), and bok choi (Brassica rapa L.) were grown using both aquaponic and hydroponic system at the Green House in Serut village, Panti District, Jember Regency, from April to June 2019. Productions of each leafy vegetable were evaluated on both culture systems. Water spinach represented 29.12% higher production in aquaponic than hydroponic system, shown by significant value in plant height, number of leaves, root volume, and leaf fresh weight. Otherwise, bok choi production displayed 17.03% increased in hydroponic than aquaponic system. However, leaf production of lettuce was not significant between hydroponic and aquaponic system. Lettuce production in aquaponic only 1.90% lowest than hydroponic system indicated that lettuce was appropriate to cultivate in both farming systems. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. New Grand Rapids) is a vegetable plant that has a contains high nutrients. Efforts that can increase the production of lettuce is using hydroponics technology and the addition of growth regulators is gibberellin (GA3). This research aims to determine the effect of addition of GA3 to gowth of lettuce using floating technology system of hydroponics without circulation. The research was conducted for four months from May to August 2017 in the Green House and Laboratory of Biology of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University Pontianak. This research used a completely randomized design with five treatments (K) and three repetitions. The treatments given is the addition of GA3 with different consentrations: K0 (Control), K1 (5 ppm), K2 (10 ppm), K3 (15 ppm), and K4 (20 ppm). The result showed that the addition of GA3 didn’t significant affect on the number of leaves, but showed a significantly affected the height, root lenght, leaf areas, and fresh weight.
