Purpose – The study uses survey data obtained in Jiangsu province, China, in June and August of 2012 to analyse the causal relations between aquatic farmers' relationship networks and trust, specific asset investments, joining in cooperatives and modern marketing channels participation. Design/methodology/approach – The authors used the structural equation mode to analyze the variables' causal relationships. Findings – The research results show that Chinese aquatic farmers' relationship networks can positively impact their participation in modern channels through the mediators of trust, specific assets investments and joining in cooperatives. Research limitations/implications – Two constructs are measured by a single item. Further study to incorporate multi-item constructs would be valuable. Practical implications – The policy implication is that the government should pay attention to farmers' relationship networks and can provide them with more public goods, especially channel and price information, to assist their evaluations and decision-making, which can help them to access modern marketing channels. Originality/value – The authors gave the answers that whether farmers' relationship networks affect their marketing channel selection decision and the function mechanism.

The research on nitric Oxide (NO) and stem cells are the focus in recent years. However, seldom do people conclude the function, mechanism and clinical value of NO in various stem cells including embryonic stem cells (ESCs), endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and neural stem cells (NSCs). In the present review, we evaluate the recent studies on NO in different stem cells and display the latest progresses of NO therapy for tumor, cardiovascular, neurologic and immune system diseases by stem cells.

This paper studies the optimum proportion of rubber-particles in rubberized concrete for road, tests the impact of 12 modifiers and their modified processes in rubberized concrete and discusses the function mechanism of the modifiers in rubberized concrete. Research indicates: the optimum proportion of rubber-particles in rubberized concrete for road is low mix-proportion (volume ratio<5%); inorganic salt as modifier can markedly enhance the bonding strength between rubber-particles used in road and cement and improve the physical properties of rubberized concrete, among which CaCl2 produces the most effect; but organic solution, acidic or alkaline solutions are not fit to be used as modifiers in rubberized concrete for road.

Contact angle is a very important parameter to investigate the function mechanism of chemical admixtures as well as the capillary stress resulted from self-desiccation or drying. However, in most of the studies, it is only assumed to be 0 degrees. This paper studied the contact angle of hardened cement paste using thin wicking method. A serious of study was conducted on the influence of layer preparation, pre-contacting method, cement paste powder size, and suspension concentration on the measuring results. An optimized thin layer wicking method was proposed for determining the contact angle of hardened cement paste, which improves effectively the linear correlation of the penetration distance - time curve and satisfies the prerequisite of Washburn function.

The refractory lead oxide ore has become an important source of lead metal with the continuous depletion of lead sulfide minerals. Lead oxide ore is of poor floatability and there are few cases to concentrate it successfully. In this study, the sulfidization-xanthate flotation method is applied for the beneficiation of lead oxide ore in Yunnan Province (China) with sodium hexametaphosphate and carboxymethyl cellulose as depressant. Chemical analysis and phase analysis was performed to explore the physicochemical property of raw ore, which provides a research basis for process design and operational control. The main influencing factors during the process, including grinding fineness, reagent types, and dosage, etc., have been studied through flotation tests. Zeta potential measurements and Fourier transfer-infrared spectrometry (FTIR) analysis were conducted to reveal the function mechanism of the reagents. Based on the determined experimental conditions, open circuit tests and closed circuit tests with one stage rougher, three-stage scavenger, and two-stage cleaner flotation, were carried out with the run-of-mine ore with a lead grade of 4.57%. Through close circuit bench test, the lead concentrate with a lead grade of 64.08% and recovery of 92.30% was obtained. This study is of special value, as it provides referencing significance for economically exploiting lead oxide ore.
