In many cases, vibrating mechanical systems permit a reliable mathematical modeling with parameter values which are reasonably well known beforehand, except for the joints between different subsystems and at the boundaries. The boundary stiffness, which is often assumed as infinite, and the damping at the boundary, which is frequently ignored, are typically not well known. In this note, we discuss the identification of the boundary stiffness and damping parameters from modal data. As an example, we treat an elastic steel beam, for which an experimental modal analysis had been carried out in our laboratory.

The rocket launch tower is a kind tower of large scale which is used in many important palces, in order to counter the tower faults problems such as leaning, bulking, etc.According to the theory of multimodal analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation of vibrational mode were conducted for the tower. The paper describes how the finite element modal for steel tower is built by means of beam and shell elements by Patran, and the analysis of the tower’s dynamical characteristic, bulking phenomenon employing commercial software Patran/Nastran,show that the results are closer to the test data,providing a basis for the tower optimal design.

This paper uses Isight_FD 5.6 to integrate UG8.0 parametric modeling, ANSYS Workbench static analysis, modal analysis, and mathematical modeling of design optimization, by means of optimization algorithm, to meet strength and the stiffness of the tower, to realize the optimization of tower structure, so as to attain the expected target which reduces the weight of tower.

A modal analysis of natural vibrations of polyethylene pipelines is proposed, which is a calculation of the vertical and lateral pressure exerted by the soil on the pipelines, on the basis of which the study of vibrations in the ANSYS software package was carried out. The results of modal analysis are presented for polyethylene pipes with a layout with inclined walls and various soils.
