ABSTRACTThe waters of Northern Nias, North Sumatra Province have a great potential for natural resources, one of which is the reef which is often used as a fishing ground. This study aims to identify and monitor the distribution of coral reefs around the waters of Northern Nias. The location of study is limited by coordinates 97° 0'31'' - 97° 16'54'' E and 1° 29'2'' LU - 1° 6'24'' N. The study locations were grouped in 6 (six) areas including Mardika reef, Wunga reef, Mausi1 reef, Mausi2 reef, Tureloto reef and Senau reef. The data used were Sentinel 2A imagery acquisition on 19 September 2018 and field observations made on 6-12 September 2018. Data processing includes geometric correction, radiometric correction, water column correction and classification using pixel-based and object-based methods as well as by delineating on the image. One classification method will be chosen that is most suitable for the location of the reef. The results show Sentinel 2A was very helpful in mapping the distribution of coral reefs compared to direct observation in the field. The use of image classification method rightly is very helpful in distinguishing coral reef objects from surrounding objects. The estimated area of coral reefs was 1,793.20 ha with details of the Mardika reef 143.27 ha, Wunga reef 627.06 ha, Mausi1 reef 299.84 ha, Mausi2 reef 141.873 ha, Tureloto reef 244.73 ha, Senau reef 336.44 ha. The existence of coral reefs have a high potential as a fishing ground and a natural tourist attraction.Keywords: coral reefs, sentinel 2A, lyzenga 1978, image classification, Northern NiasABSTRAKPerairan Nias Utara yang terletak di Provinsi Sumatra Utara memiliki potensi kekayaan alam yang besar dimana salah satunya adalah gosong karang yang sering dijadikan lokasi penangkapan ikan oleh nelayan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan monitoring sebaran gosong karang di sekitar perairan Nias Utara. Lokasi penelitian dibatasi dengan koordinat 97°0’31’’ - 97°16’54’’ BT dan 1°29’2’’LU – 1°6’24’’  LU. Untuk mempermudah dalam pengolahan data maka lokasi kajian dikelompokkan dalam 6 (enam) kawasan diantaranya gosong Mardika, gosong Wunga, gosong Mausi1, gosong Mausi2, gosong Tureloto dan gosong Senau. Data yang digunakan adalah citra satelit Sentinel 2A hasil perekaman tanggal 19 September 2018 dan hasil pengamatan lapangan yang telah dilakukan pada tanggal 6 - 12 September 2018. Pengolahan data meliputi koreksi geometrik, koreksi radiometrik, koreksi kolom air dan klasifikasi menggunakan metode klasifikasi berbasis piksel dan berbasis objek serta deliniasi citra. Dari ketiga metode klasifikasi tersebut akan dipilih satu metode klasifikasi yang sesuai dengan lokasi gosong karang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan citra Sentinel 2A sangat membantu dalam memetakan sebaran gosong karang dibandingkan dengan pengamatan langsung di lapangan. Pemilihan metode klasifikasi citra satelit yang tepat sangat membantu dalam membedakan objek gosong karang dengan objek di sekitarnya. Estimasi total luasan gosong karang di perairan Nias Utara adalah 1,793.20 ha dengan rincian luasan gosong karang Mardika 143.27 ha, gosong Wunga 627.06 ha, gosong Mausi1 299.84 ha, gosong Mausi2 141.873 ha, gosong Tureloto 244.73 ha, gosong Senau 336.44 ha. Keberadaan gosong karang memiliki potensi yang tinggi sebagai lokasi penangkapan ikan dan memiliki daya tarik sebagai tempat wisata alam.Kata kunci: gosong karang, sentinel 2A, lyzenga 1978, klasifikasi citra, Nias Utara

Abstract Bangka Island is the largest tin producer in Indonesia and since the granting of tin mining freedom in 2000, unconventional tin mining (TI) is increasingly prevalent. The existence of mining activities will directly or indirectly damage the environment both on land and at sea. Especially the high biodiversity of coral reef ecosystem. The purpose of this research was to analyze a map of the distribution of coral reef based on Sentinel 2A satellite imagery data. Analyze the extent of the coral reefs in shallow waters of Putri Island, and analyze of the condition coral reefs (percentage cover, mortality index and genus diversity) with using collaboration betwen the coral diving data and remote sensing data. Studies of changes in coral reef ecosystems have been ongoing since several decades ago. The combination of satellite imagery and aerial photographs is capable of making long-term and continuous observations on mapping and change detection. Remote sensing technology has several advantages overconventional sampling to monitor a large area in time almost simultaneously and continuously including the difficult to explore areas. This research was conducted with visual interpretation by using standard true color composite band (483) and false color composite band (843) of Sentinel 2A and also using lyzenga transformation. Estimation of coral reefs area based on result is 475,96 ha (2016) and decreased to 475 ha (2021). The condition of coral reefs at the research location is a good condition.

Spatial information on the varying composition of coral reefs is beneficial for the management and preservation of natural resources in coastal areas. Its availability is inseparable from environmental management goals; however, it can also be used as a means of supporting tourism activities and predicting the emergence of certain living species. A satellite image is one of the effective and efficient data sources that provide spatial information on coral reef variations. This study aimed to evaluate the classification scheme of coral reef life-form using images with different spatial resolutions on Parang Island, Karimunjawa Islands, Central Java. These images were from PlanetScope (3m), PlanetScope resampling (6m), and Sentinel-2A MSI (10m), whose spatial resolutions functioned as the base for building the 3m, 6m, and 10m classification schemes producing 12, 11, and 9 classes, respectively. As for the classification method, it integrated both object-based and pixel-based approaches. The results showed that the highest overall accuracy (60%) was obtained using Sentinel-2A MSI image (10m), followed by PlanetScope (3m) with 48% accuracy, and PlanetScope resampling (6m) with 40% accuracy. This finding indicates that multiresolution images can be used to produce complex coral reef life-form maps with different levels of information details. <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>Segara Anakan, Cilacap Regency is an important marine fisheries producer in Central Java <br />Province, especially for shrimps. The objective of this study were to analyze the production and <br />fishing ground of shrimps, to analyze dynamic patterns of shrimps cat ch affected by sedimentation <br />and  industrial waste in Segara  Anakan, and to develop intervention option to the degradation  of <br />shrimp  catch  as  well.   Some  methods  were  used  in  this  study  such  as  descriptive  method, <br />geographic information system, and dynamic model approach included the test of model structural <br />stability and performance. In  2002–2013, the highest production of shrimps in the Segara Anakan <br />was in 2006 (2263.0 ton) and the lowest was in 2010 (884.7 ton). Fishing ground of shrimp in the <br />Segara  Anakan  already  had high total suspended solid, and also  low contaminated oil and  lead <br />(Pb). Results of dynamic model analysis showed that shrimp catch degraded exponentially along <br />with the increasing of sediment accumulation and industrial waste. Shrimps production in 2013 was <br />1147.8  tons,  and  might  decrease   43.04  %  to  be  653.8  tons  over  75  years  later  without <br />intervention. If the model was intervenced by fishing open -close system and limited acces fishing <br />ground,  hence  shrimps  catch  showing  stable  around  902.2–929.1  ton  every  year.  While  if  the <br />intervention was conducted by the stopping of industrial waste to Segara Anakan, hence shrimps <br />catch only decrease 13.00 % to be 998.6 tons over 75 years later.<br /><br />Keywords: dynamic model, fishing ground, industrial waste, shrimp catch</p><p><strong><br /></strong></p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p><strong></strong>ABSTRAK<br />Segara Anakan, Kabupaten Cilacap merupakan basis produksi perikanan laut yang penting <br />di  Provinsi  Jawa  Tengah  terutama  jenis  udang.   Penelitian  ini  bertujuan  menganalisis  kondisi <br />produksi dan daerah penangkapan udang, menganalisis pola dinamis penurunan hasil tangkapan <br />udang  akibat  pengaruh  pengendapan  dan  pembuangan  limbah  industri  di  kawasan  Segara <br />Anakan,  serta  mengembangkan  alternatif  intervensi  secara  modelling  terhadap  penurunan <br />tersebut.  Metode  yang  digunakan  terdiri  dari  metode  deskriptif,  sistem  informasi  geografi, <br />pendekatan  model  dinamis,  serta  uji  kestabilan  struktur  dan  kinerja  model.  Pada  periode  tahun <br />2002  –  2013, produksi tertinggi udang terjadi pada tahun 2006 (2263,0 ton) dan terendah terjadi <br />pada tahun 2010 (884,7 ton). Daerah penangkapan udang di kawasan Segara Anakan mempunyai <br />total padatan tersuspensi dan kekeruhan yang tinggi, serta tercemar ring an oleh minyak dan logam timbal. Analisis model dinamis menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan udang cenderung menurun <br />secara eksponensial seiring meningkatnya akumulasi endapan  dan cemaran limbah industri dari <br />waktu  ke  waktu.  Hasil  tangkapan  udang  yang  saat  ini  (tahun  2013)  mencapai  1147,8  ton,  bisa <br />menurun 43,04 % menjadi 653,8 ton setelah 75 tahun kemudian. Bila model tersebut diintervensi <br />dalam  bentuk  penerapan  sistem  open-close  dan  pembatasan  daerah  penangkapan  yang  bisa <br />diakses,  maka  hasil  tangkapan  udang  cenderung  stabil  pada  kisaran  angka  902,2  –  929,1  ton <br />setiap  tahunnya.   Akan  tetapi  bila  intervensi  dilakukan  dalam  bentuk  penghentian  pembuangan <br />limbah industri ke kawasan Segara  Anakan  dan sekitarnya, maka hasil  tangkapan udang hanya <br />turun 13,00 % (menjadi 998,6 ton) setelah 75 tahun kemudian.<br /><br />Kata kunci: model dinamis, daerah penangkapan, limbah industri, hasil tangkapan udang</p>

The south sea of Central Java as a fishing ground for south coast fishers makes its resources common-pool resources, and the utilization of ownership rights becomes unclear. As a result, fisheries resources experience excessive utilization, which indicates the phenomenon of the tragedy of the common. Based on these conditions, appropriate rules and policies are needed in the institutional management of fisheries resources to remain sustainable. The purpose of this study is: to identify the roles of stakeholders in fisheries management. The analysis used is stakeholder analysis. The results of the study show that: Stakeholder groups involved in fisheries management are subjects, bystanders, actors, and players.

Sertifikasi ikan hias diterapkan di Kepulauan Seribu pada 2003-2006 oleh MAC berdasarkan kebutuhan pembeli yang menginginkan ikan hias laut yang sehat dan ditangkap dengan cara yang tidak merusak lingkungan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dampak penerapan program sertifikasi perdagangan ikan hias laut terhadap kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang dan kondisi sosial ekonomi nelayan di Kepulauan Seribu. Studi ini dilaksanakan di Pulau Panggang, Kepulauan Seribu. Studi ini menggunakan tiga metode, yaitu diskusi kelompok terfokus (FGD), wawancara mendalam, dan kuisioner. Responden dalam studi ini terdiri dari kelompok nelayan dan pengepul ikan hias (belum dan sudah tersertifikasi), tokoh masyarakat, ketua kelompok nelayan, dan kepala keluarga dalam rumah tangga nelayan. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 73% responden menyatakan kondisi terumbu karang di lokasitangkap masih dalam kategori baik. Sementara, sebanyak 58% responden menyatakan kondisi ikan hias cenderung meningkat. Pada aspek sosial dan ekonomi, sebanyak 62% responden merasa lebih aman dalam menangkap ikan karena tidak melanggar hukum, sebanyak 96% responden menyatakan sangat baik dalam hal penyelesaian masalah melalui kelompok, dan sebanyak 96% responden menyatakan memiliki kondisi fisik yang lebih baik. Namun, hanya sebanyak 42% responden yang menyatakan ada perbaikan harga jual ikan hias dari nelayan. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari studi ini adalah program ini bisa mengubah persepsi masyarakat untuk menggunakan alat tangkap ramah lingkungan untuk mengurangi kerusakan ekosistem terumbu karang. Secara sosial, keamanan dan kesehatan nelayan cenderung meningkat. Secara ekonomi, program ini tidak memberikan perbaikan atau peningkatan harga ikan hias pada tingkat nelayan. Title: Impact of Implementation Marine Ornamental Fish Certification on Coral Reefs Ecosystem and Socio Economic of Fishers Condition in theKepulauan SeribuMarine ornamental fish certification was implemented in Seribu Islands at 2003 – 2006 by MAC on the need of buyers who want a healthy marine ornamental fish and non destructive fishing. This study aimed to evaluate impact of implementation of certification program of marine ornamental fish on coral reef ecosystem and social economic of fishers condition in Seribu Islands. The study was conducted in Panggang Island, Seribu Islands. The study was using three methods namely focus group discussions (FGD), in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. Number of respondents in the study were 44 respondents consist of a group of fishers and collectors of marine ornamental fish (certified and non certified), public figures, chief of the fishers group, and the head of fishers household. The result of this study was showed about 73% of respondents said the condition of coral reefs in fishing ground still in good category. Meanwhile, about 58% respondent said the condition of population marine ornamental fish is increase. In the social and economic aspects, about 62% of respondents felt more secure to collecting fish because they did not against the law, about 96% of respondents stated very well in terms of problem solving with group, and as 96% of respondents stated they have a better healthy condition. However, only about 42% of respondents was said the prices of marine ornamental fishes are increase. This study concluded that the program could changedthe perception of community in Panggang Island that using environmental-friendly fishing gear can reduce the destruction of coral reefs ecosystem. However, economic benefit of the certification program was not making improvement and increasing the prices of marine ornamental fishes.

Echinodermata merupakan biota yang dapat ditemukan hampir di semua ekosistem laut. Echinodermata cukup melimpah keberadaannya di kawasan terumbu karang, hal ini karena terumbu karang berperan sebagai tempat berlindung dan mencari makan bagi Echinodermata. Dalam rantai makanan, Echinodermata memiliki peranan sebagai pemakan seston atau detritus, dan merombak sisa bahan organik. Echinodermata juga berperan sebagai bioindikator parameter kualitas perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan Echinodermata yang terdapat di Pantai Krakal, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta dan Pantai Pailus, Jepara, Jawa Tengah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode transek kuadran dengan ukuran 1x1m. Hasil pengamatan di Pantai Krakal ditemukan 2 kelas dari filum Echinodermata, antara lain 3 species dari Kelas Ophiuroidea yaitu Ophiocoma erinaceus, Ophiocoma scolopendrina, Ophiarachna affinis, dan 3 species dari Kelas Echinoidea yaitu Echinometra viridis, Echinometra oblonga, dan Stomopneustes variolaris. Sedangkan jenis Echinodermata yang ditemukan di Pantai Pailus ditemukan 1 Kelas Echinodermata yaitu Holothuridea yang terdiri dari 3 spesies, yaitu Holothuria atra, Holothuria scabra, dan Holothuria leucospilota. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kelimpahan individu tertinggi penelitian di Pantai Krakal adalah Ophiocoma scolopendrina (7,05 ind/m²),sedangkan kelimpahan individu tertinggi di Pantai Pailus adalah Holothuria scabra (2,13  ind/m²). Echinodermata is a biota that can be found almost in all marine ecosystems. Echinodermata quite abundant presence in the area coral reefs, because it serves as shelter and feed for Echinodermata. In the food chain, Echinodermata has a role as a seston eater or dentrite, and remodel the rest of the organic material. Echinodermata also serves as a bioindicator of water quality parameters. This study aims to determine the abundance of Echinodermata found in Krakal Beach, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta and Pailus Beach, Jepara, Central Java. The method used in this research was descriptive method. Sampling in this research used quadrant transect method with size 1x1m. The results of observation on Krakal Beach found 2 classes of Echinodermata phylum, among others 3 species of Ophiuroidea namely Ophiocoma erinaceus, Ophiocoma scolopendrina, Ophiarachna affinis, and 3 species of Echinoidea is Echinometra viridis, Echinometra oblonga, and Stomopneustes variolaris. While the type of Echinodermata found in Pailus Beach found 1 Class Echinodermata is Holothuridea consisting of 3 species, namely Holothuria atra, Holothuria scabra, and Holothuria leucospilota. The results showed the highest individual abundance of research on Krakal Beach was Ophiocoma scolopendrina (7,05 ind/m²), while the highest individual abundance in Pailus Beach was Holothuria scabra (2,13 ind/m²).

<p class="AbstractEnglish"><strong>Abstract:</strong> Indonesia is the country that contributed the largest coral reefs, about 18% total of the entire the world. Area of coral reef in Indonesia known as the “Coral Triangle”. This ecosystem has high ecology and economic value. The existence of the coral reefs is the main attraction for a tourism destination. However, the function and role of these ecosystems are decreasing due to natural factors and artificial factors. One of the natural factors is due to the influence of global warmings, such as sea surface temperature (SST), causing damage and coral death, known as coral bleaching. The purpose of this study was to identify the potential for coral bleaching in Indonesian waters using SPL anomaly analysis obtained from monthly AVHRR POES in the morning and night. This research used hotspots data (HS) by calculating the average of data anomaly difference with a maximum monthly average data during 10 years (2006 - 2017). The results obtained show that areas that have the potential to become coral bleaching in Indonesian waters are quite varied. In general, it covers the northern coast of Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, the northwest coast of Lampung, Pekanbaru, and Riau, the northwest coast of Papua Island, and North Natuna waters. The results also showed that sea surface temperatures in Indonesian waters were quite influential on coral bleaching.</p><p class="KeywordsEngish"><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Indonesia merupakan negara penyumbang terumbu karang terbesar  yaitu 18% dari total dunia. Wilayah terumbu karang di Indonesia dikenal dengan wilayah “<em>Coral Triangle</em>”. Ekosistem ini memiliki nilai ekologis dan ekonomis yang tinggi. Keberadaanya merupakan daya tarik tersendiri untuk dijadikan lokasi wisata. Namun, fungsi dan peranan ekosistem ini menurun akibat faktor alam dan faktor buatan. Salah satu faktor alamnya diakibatkan pengaruh pemanasan global yaitu naiknya suhu permukaan laut (SPL) sehingga menyebabkan kerusakan dan kematian karang atau dikenal sebagai pemutihan karang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi potensi terjadi pemutihan karang di wilayah perairan Indonesia menggunakan analisis anomali SPLyang diperoleh dari POES AVHRR pagi dan malam bulanan. Metode yang diugunakan mencari data hotspot (HS) dengan melakukan  perhitungan rata rata selisih data anomali dengan data rata rata maksimum bulanan selama 10 tahun (2006 - 2017). Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa wilayah yang berpotensi menjadi pemutihan karang  di perairan Indonesia cukup beravariasi. Secara umum meliputi meliputi pesisir utara dari Provinsi Banten, DKI Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur, pesisir barat laut Lampung ,Pekanbaru dan Riau,  pesisir barat laut dari Pulau Papua, dan perairan Natuna Utara. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa suhu permukaan laut di perairan Indonesia cukup mempengaruhi pemutihan karang<strong>.</strong></p>

Penangkapan ikan yang destruktif (menggunakan bom dan racun) dan pengambilan karang un­tuk dijadikan fondasi rumah menjadi isu dalam pengelolaan pesisir di Desa Tumbak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Mengetahui nilai manfaat langsung terumbu karang sebagai tempat penangkapan ikan oleh masyarakat di Desa Tumbak; (2) Mengetahui nilai manfaat langsung terumbu karang sebagai bahan ba­ngunan oleh masyarakat di Desa Tumbak; (3) Mengetahui total nilai pemanfaatan terumbu karang seba­gai tempat penangkapan ikan dan sebagai bahan bangunan oleh masyarakat di Desa Tumbak. Nilai man­faat langsung terumbu karang untuk fondasi rumah diperoleh Rp6.177.600 per tahun dan nilai manfaat langsung terumbu karang untuk penangkapan ikan karang Rp4.860.000.000. Total nilai manfaat langsung dari kedua pemanfaatan ini yaitu: Rp4.866.177.600. Total nilai ini belum termasuk pemanfaatan dalam bentuk lain terhadap ekosistem terumbu karang. Pemanfaatan terumbu karang sebagai bahan bangunan terutama disebabkan oleh faktor biaya yang murah dan jarak yang dekat dengan pemukiman. Praktik pe­manfaatan yang tidak berkelanjutan ini menyebabkan degradasi kondisi terumbu karang sehingga tutupan karang hidup berada dalam kategori rusak (sedang). Jika terjadi terus-menerus, hal ini dapat menghilang­kan fungsi ekologis sebagai peredam ombak dan fungsi ekonomis sebagai sumber pangan. Kata kunci: Tumbak; nilai manfaat langsung; terumbu karang; ekosistem   The issues of destructive fishing practices (using of bombs and poisons) and the use of corals as construction building materials have become issues in coastal management in Tumbak Village. The aims of this study are (1) to find out the value of the direct benefits of coral reefs as fishing ground to the com­munities in Tumbak village, (2) to find out the value of the direct benefits of coral reefs as building mate­rials to the communities in Tumbak village; (3) to find out the total value of the use of coral reefs as a fishing ground and as a construction materials for to the communities in Tumbak village. The value of direct benefit of the coral reef for building foundation was Rp 6,177,600 per year and the value of direct benefits for fishing was Rp 4,860,000,000. Total value of direct benefits from both of these uses was Rp 4,866,177,600. Total value did not include the use of other forms of coral reef ecosystems. In conclusi­ons, the use of coral reefs as a building materials were mainly due to the low cost and the proximity to residential areas. Such category unsustainable practice has led to the degradation of coral reefs down to damaged category (medium category). If this happened continuously, the ecological function as wave protectors and economic functions as a source of food could be eliminated.
