MnZn-ferrite nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution were prepared in situ in water-CTAB-hexanol microemulsions using a two-step process: the precipitation of the corresponding hydroxides, followed by the oxidation of the Fe2+. The influence of the temperature and the time of the precipitation step was systematically studied.

Abstract The structure, composition and magnetic properties of iron oxide nanoparticles are studied as dependent on the synthesis technology and method of separation in ferrofluids. The goal of the present study is to improve the magnetic properties of wet-synthesized nanoparticles and achieve a narrow nanoparticle size distribution. The results of measurements show that by varying the conditions of the chemical coprecipitation method, different compositions and structures of the nanoparticles could be obtained. The separation of ferrite nanoparticles of a polydisperse colloid by centrifugation as well as by HGMS provides the possibility to obtain a nanoparticle set with narrow size distribution

Abstract.All observed optical and infrared properties of Saturn's E-ring can be explained in terms of Mie scattering by a narrow size distribution of ice spheres of 2 - 2.5 micron diameter. The spherical shape of the ring particles and their narrow size distribution imply a molten (possibly volcanic) origin on Enceladus. The E-ring consists of many layers, possibly stratified by electrostatic levitation.

Monodisperse IrNiFe alloy nanoparticles with an average diameter of 2.2 nm have been synthesized by a colloidal synthetic method. By taking advantage of the synergistic effect between Ir, Ni and Fe and the ultrasmall NPs with narrow size distribution, the as-synthesized IrNiFe catalyst exhibits superior HER/OER performances in acidic media.
