This article seeks to unravel the management model used by China's Yunnan Province in its fight against HIV/AIDS. This government-driven, multi-sector partnership model has led to some capacity building and stabilization of HIV transmission among certain at-risk populations. The organizational strategies employed in this model might be useful for resource-poor countries in containing the spread of HIV/AIDS.

It is difficult to manage resources allocation and pollution in a multi-regional country with mutually competitive relations. This work therefore intends to propose an optimal control model for the management problem. Through introducing the union utility function to model competitive interactions, we construct an integrated economy, resource, and environment macroeconomic model according to the social practices in the country with some competitive regions. Numerical procedures are proposed to search for the optimal energy policy and antipollution strategy of the model. As shown, an optimal fair tradeoff between efficiency and equity can be balanced for each region in the country. More important, the model verifies the importance of the role of government for management problems in a country with complex internal competitive relations

It is well known that obtaining optimal solutions for groundwater management models with covariates is a challenging task, especially for dynamic planning and management. Here, a theory and method of dealing with mutual-feed joint variation in groundwater management models is described. Specifically, an equation expressing the inherent connection between covariates and groundwater level was developed. This equation was integrated into a mathematical simulation model of groundwater, after which a groundwater dynamic optimization management model with covariates was constructed using the state transition equation method and solved with differential dynamic programming algorithms. Finally, the above theory and method were applied to a hypothetical groundwater system. For the same groundwater system, a groundwater management model with covariates was developed and the results of the two optimization methods were found to be nearly identical, which validated the theory and methods put forth here.

As áreas naturais protegidas são reconhecidas como a melhor estratégia para a preservação dos recursos naturais e também para a manutenção dos processos ecológicos, capazes de gerar inúmeras contribuições à sociedade, dentre elas o bem-estar. A partir do aumento do turismo em Unidades de Conservação (UCs) e dos impactos negativos causados por esta atividade, tornou-se necessário um planejamento que ordene a visitação e promova a sustentabilidade do ecossistema, conciliando assim o desenvolvimento e a conservação do ambiente. Deste modo, os objetivos do estudo foram levantar e caracterizar diferentes metodologias de estimação da capacidade de visitação em UCs apresentadas pela literatura. Foram levantadas oito principais metodologias, Limits of Acceptable Change (LAC), Visitor Impact Management (VIM), Visitor Activity Management Process (VAMP), Método Cifuentes, Visitor Experience and Resource Protection (VERP), Tourism Optimization Management Model (TOMM), Sustainable Recreation and Tourism (SRT) e Rol de Oportunidades de Visitação em Unidades de Conservação (ROVUC). O SRT foi identificado, mas não discutido em função de carência de informações. Os resultados apontaram que não é possível apontar uma metodologia mais eficiente ou adequada, visto que a adoção e aplicação destas metodologias levam em conta as características do meio, como o contexto da localidade, o acesso às áreas de preservação, a caracterização das atividades desenvolvidas por visitantes, entre outros fatores. Entretanto, este estudo apresenta um orientativo a respeito das metodologias de visitação existentes e que podem ser adotadas em UCs.

In conditions of small-scale production of radio-electronic equipment cost reduction can be achieved through the optimization of technological processes (TP). Discusses problems in the formulation of optimization problems. It is shown that the dynamism, the limited, incomplete and ambiguous information available make traditional methods of optimization management of TP unsuitable for practical use. Topical question of the elaboration of models of governance, which reflect the dynamics of the TP, adapt to changing conditions, are operating under a limited amount of experimental data. The article shows that the problems in the setting and solving optimization problems of TP can be solved using apparatus of the theory of fuzzy sets, the solution is suboptimal. Suboptimal management models designed for model TP small-scale production. Models implement the proposed approach and is suitable for practical use.

A toolbox for assessing the environmental impacts of processes, products and services has been gradually developed over the last 30 years. The tools and methods place attention on a growing holistic concern to also consider stakeholders’ views connected to impacts of the entire life cycle of products. Another change is the gradual increase in consideration of the economic and social dimensions of sustainability since the 1990s. This paper presents this development using two interlinked models that illustrate the changes from the scopes of time and system complexity. The two initial models are further merged into one, the Capacity-building in Sustainability and Environmental Management model (the CapSEM-model), which presents organizations a systemic way to transition to sustainability, seen from the scopes of system complexity and performance complexity. The CapSEM-model attempts to integrate the different dimensions of systems and of methodologies and their contribution to increased environmental and sustainability performance. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are further mapped onto the model as an example of how they can be useful in the transition to sustainability. The model is, therefore, a conceptualization and needs further development to specify accurate level boundaries. However, it has proven to be helpful for organizations that struggle to find a systematic approach toward implementing sustainability. This is described through a brief example from the manufacturing industry.
