Local sustainable development projects can be fostered by public participation involving citizens and local organizations as stakeholders. On one hand multi-stakeholder approaches can increase acceptability of a project guaranteeing long term benefits to local society. On the other hand, diverging interests and percep-tions of different stakeholders (involved or not) can hinder implementation of sus-tainability projects. This paper analyzes a real case study of an innovative sus-tainability project in Northern Italy which fail in its participatory purposes. The project "Cantieri Rinverditi" has been a Re-Greening Vacant Urban Space project developed in San Rocco al Porto a small town in the Po valley in Lombardy, which is the highest region for soil loss due to urbanization in Italy. Through a qualitative analysis based on semi-structured interviews and participant observation I high-light the main difficulties and barriers which caused the lack of local citizens' par-ticipation to the project.

- Socials Networks and Urban Tourism. Touristics Patterns in a small Town, Tourism in a "non touristic" small town take a peculiar place. In one sense the tourism, or even better his success, influence many dimensions of the locals socials networks; in a second sense the tourism in smalls towns are partially different comparing other patterns of urban tourism. In the specific the analysis is focused on two issues. The first issue is the role of the "folk" in a small town as part of the urban touristic product; the second issue is the multidimensional role of the local community into the touristics patterns. Starting from this analysis, the second part of the article show the results of a survey carried out in a small town (Aosta, Northern Italy). The aim of this survey is to evaluate the place of tourism in that urban context. Key words: urban tourism, social network, touristics patterns.

The environmental impacts of sport events have been growing during the last decades, which has led to the organizing associations developing adequate countermeasures to both reduce carbon emissions due to construction and operational stages compensate for the emissions. This work aims at proposing an approach to stadiums energy enhancement that includes strategies largely recognized as effective and applicable to several building typologies (residential, commercial, academic, etc.). The selected case study is the Dacia Arena in northern Italy that has been recently refurbished and renovated. The proposed workflow has as a goal minimizing the increment of the operational emissions, caused by new heated areas in the stadium. Firstly, the energy consumption was estimated in dynamic state for Scenario 0 (current state) and Scenario 1 (refurbished state) to quantify the new plant’s energy demand. Secondly, two hypothetical system layouts were proposed and evaluated. In the first, the power for lighting, cooling and heating is supplied by a system that couples photovoltaic panels with heat pump. In the second, the same photovoltaic plant is integrated with a biomass plant and an absorption chiller. The comparison highlights the suitability of those interventions and the environmental advantages deriving from their exploitation.
