Te existence of ancient grave sites in Banyuwangi save the potential of historical data to uncover the origins of Javanese civilization. However, the sites have been damaged by the activity of looting graves in the last ffteen years. Tis Community Engagement Activity aims to identify socio-economic issues and the substance of the object of the site study to stop looting and raise the potential of ancient tombs academically and politically concerning historical heritage management policies, as well as ocioeconomically for the local community. Community Engagement Activities was conducted in November 2015. Te team found that the looting of grave sites by residents was motivated by economic problems. Nevertheless, the problem network is rooted in the political aspect of the absence of a policy that places the ancient site’s grave as an area of cultural heritage. Tis issue is closely related to the low level of awareness of government and citizens. In addition, there are complex issues concerning the ownership and management of the land area of the grave site, which is a coffee plantation.

Nowadays the built heritage has been recognized as one of the main sectors that can support the economic and sustainable development of countries. In the last years, the built heritage has been subject to several levels of interventions, being now clear its need for a proper maintenance and conservation management. However, in several cases, the maintenance faces lack of building records, which makes the maintenance a harsh, long, and expensive process. Therefore, there is an opportunity and need to apply new technologies, like Building Information Modelling (BIM), as supporting tool to the management of historical heritage. By so, the aim of this work was the development of a management system to be used as a supporting tool to the maintenance and conservation of the existent buildings, in historical context, facilitating to the interested parties the automated and digitized information needed to carry out the most varied tasks, with the particularity to be directly connected to the 3D-BIM model of the building. But in order to test the developed system (its applicability and functionality), it was in an early phase, applied to a pilot project with the significant heritage value. This work follows a development methodology applied to the case study and had different phases: (1) the case study was modelled in Autodesk Revit software, in whose model was inserted all the parametric information and associated metadata; (2) then, a support database of the management system was developed in Microsoft SQL Server, which will support all the information exported from the BIM model; (3) a web application was developed in C# through Visual Studio 2015, which works through and application programming interface (API) allowing the communication between the web application and the BIM model, allowing not only the interaction with the parametric information of this one, but also, a persistent access to a data management system (drawings, inspection reports, specifications, etc.) that has been created. The development of the management system and its application to the case study allows us to show its potential as a tool for the historical heritage management, contributing to its permanent and constantly updated management and cross off the fragmentation and loss of information therefore reducing the consequent investment in data collection.

ABSTRACTThis article connects basic concepts to heritage management and risk management of cultural heri- tage. Thus, to tackle this subject, it starts with a picture of the concepts of cultural heritage, since the theory about it is dynamic, changing, and very important for contemporary society. In order to ad- dress the central topic, concepts related to risks, cultural heritage and their management have been employed, to then integrate them with greater detail to the approach studied here. Finally, the most relevant aspects of the methodology developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute (ICC), the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) have been included. Risk management encompasses the evaluation, analysis, proposals, plans and other aspects related to the practice of a public/private organization in order to minimize risk when decision making about cultural heritage management occurs. Keywords.-Risk management, cultural heritage, historical heritage assets.

BUILDING A SYSTEM This book was written with the aim of bringing attention to the process of the emergence of a church system of cultural heritage management, until now overlooked by researchers, which resulted in numerous innovative solutions in the Polish territories. These were principally: the erection of a diocesan museum in Tarnów (1888) and an even earlier introduction of a relevant minor study in art history in the local seminary (1886); an early recognition by members of the local community of the problem of widespread demolishing of old wooden churches, and their efforts to find effective countermeasures; a massive social participation of clergy and lay people in diverse initiatives concerning historical heritage preservation; a prompt compilation of a topographical inventory of historical sites that covered a large part of the area under investigation; and finally, establishing a post of a Diocesan Historic Preservation Officer (summer 1908).

The debate between building new sport and recreation facilities or renovating existing venues has engrossed sport managers (Barghchi, Omar, & Aman, 2009; Galvan, 2006; Grant-Long, 2005; Rosentraub & Ijla, 2008; Seifried, 2010). Interestingly, the individuals entrusted with making investment decisions on these facilities often lack knowledge of this process. Many sport management programs include courses related to facility management; however, they rarely include curriculum items on the renovation of culturally valuable sport and recreation buildings. The main purpose of this paper is to propose heritage management as an important component to sport and recreational facility management and to showcase an example of this initiative that was incorporated into a facility management class. This teaching methodology on heritage management allows students to understand how to create valuable contributions to their field while simultaneously learning about the culture and history of sport venues.

This review examines current discussions from the cross-section study between urban heritage conservation and urban facility management fields in the academic literature from 2011–2020. The purpose is to identify the gaps within the examined papers to reveal the challenges and opportunities in the combined fields using the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s recommendation of the historic urban landscape (HUL) approach. The scoping review procedure was followed. The six critical steps and four supporting tools of the HUL approach were used to analyze the examined papers. Most aspects of urban heritage management within the body of literature were directly related to urban-scale facility management. The potential usage of building information modelling became one of the most discussed technological aspects. The expansion of the public–private partnership model into the public–private–people partnership is considered as a new potential business model. At the same time, the adaptive reuse approach is deemed to be the most sustainable method of managing heritage areas. This scoping review identified the financial tools as the most under-researched urban heritage facility management component. Therefore, it needs to be endorsed among the scientific communities to improve the knowledge and provide operable guidelines for the authorities and practitioners in the urban heritage field.
