This study intends to explore the salience of national identity for young people from the perspective of ‘commitment and loyalty’ to their nation. The uniqueness of this study is that it provides the opportunity to observe the salience of civic, ethnic, and cultural features of national identity in Kazakhstan. This article has examined the importance of national identity theoretically and critically reviewed the literature on this theme. For the case study, a small survey was conducted in order to evaluate the role of inclusion in shaping national identity among young students. An academic implication of this research entails further research on the salience of belonging and sense of attachment to national identity among young people in other cosmopolitan cities of Kazakhstan, such as Almaty, Nur-Sultan and Atyrau, where the effect of globalisation is more prevalent and the Kazakh customs and traditions less noticeable in order to make a comparative evaluation. In this context, the authors consider the importance of national identity for young individuals by analysing the theories on nations and nationalism, specifically emphasising the relation between individuals and their nations. Analysis is complemented by a short survey on the subject of national identity, which was carried out among students of the Kazakh-Turkish International University in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.

This article concerns the discussions on and use of the Qur'an in the setting of Islamic Religious Education in Kisumu, Kenya. It is based on fieldwork conducted 2003 – 2006. Theoretically it uses a distinction between ritual and cognitive aspects of how the text is addressed. The author finds that the teaching is focused on the latter aspect. Hence, hypothetically the author argues, Islamic Religious Education, through the content and the form of the teaching as well as the position of the subject itself in the overall educational system, promotes a "demystification" of the text, providing it with a character that is quite different from the one dominating in the local Muslim context.

Education reformist and philosopher John Dewey has stated that the ultimate aim of writing “School’s of Tomorrow”  is not an attempt to develop a complete theory of education nor yet review any systems or discuss the views of prominent educators. This is not a text book of education nor yet an exposition of a new method of school teaching, aims to show the weary teacher or the discontented parent how education should be carried on. The aim of this book is to show what actually happens  when schools start out to put into practice each in its own way, the effects of applications arise from new educational ideas and the direction and meaning that education seems to be taking at present time. The most important point that should be taken into consideration in the book “School’s of Tomorrow” which was written by John Dewey a century ago in 1915,  is that  Are  the schools at present educational system in 2016 able to provide educational application and practices mentioned in the book? In the book it is asserted that education is the result of natural growth and it gives much importance and consistent with basic educational principles such as  personal liberties and individuality. In addition; the role of education in social development and supplying local needs are the two important current topics discussed in educational system makes the book ultimately notable. Anoter important issue emphasized in the book is  guiding to  constitute democracy tradition in education. The book is useful source for the  educators, parents and pupils.

Abstract: This paper aims to make a theoretical review on the main approaches to Well-being and also introduce the subject of Responsibility as an element to be considered in this discussion. Thus, three theories of well-being are presented: the Mainstream Economics, the Happiness Economics and The Capability Approach. Each of them provides considerations about what matters for people’s life and social development. However, none of them contemplates individual responsibility as a relevant component for development. And only The Capability Approach takes account of responsibility, but without furthering the subject. In this sense, the theme of responsibility is defended as having an important role for development and well-being, and could be incorporated by The Capability Approach.

Late in 1979 the Zambian Government unveiled its Third National Development Plan which will guide policies until the year 1984, and this implies that problems of unemployment, particularly in urban areas, will be partly overcome by an expansion of self-employment possibilities.Such was the enthusiasm for the new initiative that the absence of reliable information surrounding it was largely ignored. This article attempts to provide relevant data concerning a number of issues which will be vital in implementing any measures to encourage self-employment in the so-called ‘informal sector’ of the Zambian economy. In particular we shall endeavour to quantify the likely flows into the labour force, particularly from the educational system, the possible growth of formal wage employment in urban areas, and the current size and composition of the informal sector. Finally, conclusions are drawn concerning the possible rôle of this sector in absorbing the unemployed in the plan period.

The article analyzes the demographic situation in Ukraine in comparison with European countries. Features, forms of manifestation nd causes of the demographic crisis in modern Ukraine are shown. It is established that the situation with demographic potential is especially critical in Ukrainian society. It is substantiated that the current demographic situation is characterized by depopulation trends, declining birth rates, increased mortality, reduced life expectancy. Among the main factors contributing to the deteriorating demographic situation in the country are economic (low wages and pensions, inflation, constantly rising tariffs for housing and communal services, electricity, gas), social (unsatisfactory housing conditions for young people, high unemployment, deteriorating public health, declining health care), political (political instability, political risks, incomplete changes in the management system, inconsistency of public administration mechanisms with management goals, copying other people's reforms, lack of clear idea and integrated (comprehensive) reform strategy), state- managerial (with solving the problems of self-organization, ie overcoming the inconsistencies of the state of public administration and civil society to the modern world level and the requirements of their organization and functioning, as well as problems of improving the subject-object relations, management regime). The influence of migration processes among young people on the development of society is determined. It is substantiated that the demographic problem is a public administration problem. It is noted that one of the factors in increasing the role of youth in state-building processes and social development is the system of higher education. Public policies (demographic, youth, education) need to be more effective.
