Studija o proceni uticaja projekta na životnu sredinu je dokument kojim se analizira i ocenjuje kvalitet činilaca životne sredine i njihova osetljivost na određenom prostoru i međusobni uticaji postojećih i planiranih aktivnosti, predviđaju neposredni i posredni štetni uticaji projekta na činioce životne sredine, kao i mere i uslovi za sprečavanje, smanjenje i otklanjanje štetnih uticaja na životnu sredinu i zdravlje ljudi. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, ESIA) prema standardu Međunarodne finansijske korporacije (eng. International Finance Corporation, IFC) kroz primer vetroparka u Alibunaru, Rep. Srbija.

Environmental impact assessment, as practiced in Alberta, includes considerable social impact assessment requirements. The author, while favouring a comprehensive assessment and project approval process, argues that the Minister of the Environment Jacks the legal authority to require project proponents to carry out socio-economic impact assessments. According to the author, the Energy Resources Conservation Board's power to require and consider social impact assessment in the approval process is also doubtful. Legislative clarification is desirable.

Abstract Social Impact Assessment is in general used in connection with larger mineral extraction projects in Greenland. Such assessments are not part of the environmental impact assessments, and different authorities are involved. Recent amendments of the relevant legislation have strengthened the quality of the mineral extraction legislation. However, the legal framework and its implementation still leave a lot to the discretion of the Government and could be improved.
