Riots in Moluccas were one of the biggest conflicts in Indonesia that occurred in 2000-2002, no wonder the incident was a concern of many parties, especially the mass media. However, the mass media is also not free from bias because there are ideologies that can affect the content of the news. For this reason, researchers conducted a study on the representation of the Moluccas riots in Siwalima. The focus of this research is on  problem of the study, how was the linguistic representation of the Moluccas riots in Siwalima?the objective of the study is to investigate the linguistic representation of Moluccas riots in Siwalima. This study used a qualitative method with Fairclough's (1995) model of Critical Discourse Analysis to help on the process of data analysis. The data used was linguistic representation of Moluccas riots in Siwalima. The researchers found that the linguistic representation of the Moluccas riots in Siwalima highlights more about the incompetence of the government and the military in dealing with the conflict. Hence, the military was considered to have favored only one particular group, even participated in extending the conflict and making native Moluccan victims of the conflict. The condition of Moluccas at that time was also represented as a gloomy event.

With the increasing dissemination and usage of online mate choice, finding a partner via the Internet has attracted remarkable public attention in the last decade. Several, mostly negative prejudices toward online mate choice – especially regarding its risks and disadvantages – circulate constantly throughout the mass media and form public perceptions. This article presents common stereotypes on this (still) new phenomenon, derived from an investigation of newspapers online and offline, online guides, blogs, and discussion forums and confronts them with the empirical facts. Based on several descriptive analyses, we discuss whether and to what extent ten prevalent beliefs correspond to the empirical reality of finding a mate via the Internet in Germany.

The character of a proper name, be it an urbanonym or an anthroponym, may bear some stylistic burden, be an accessory of a style, in our case a newspaper one. The material for studying the newspaper is not only its typographical text, but also the marks made in the margins. Some interesting facts related to anthroponymy were extracted, in the course of our research, from various books of famous scientific and literary figures. Further, here are several cases related to toponyms (in the narrower sense, urban names) and their writing. Obviously, the noun-toponym formed by the suffix-prefix way, Подмосковье - has not yet finally entered the codified Russian language at the time of the publication of the newspaper issue for 1910. For the purpose of linguistic comparativization, the most interesting cases related to the anthroponymy and toponymy of today's press are given. Attention is also drawn to the case of accentology, and zoonyms are also discussed. There are cases when the mass media allow for distortion when quoting classics. The features of writing some toponyms are considered (the refusal to incline toponyms with -o). Partly, the article touches upon the theme of occasionalisms, dialectisms, univerbats (univerbs), colloquialisms, hydronyms, and simply names that are interesting for their exceptional rarity; norms of codified language, accentology. The subject of linguistic evolution that is taking place before our eyes is touched upon.

This study employed qualitative method with case study approach to describe how the power of social media can drive community participation in this independent environmental cleaning up program. The results showed that the form and the content of social media as well as the character of the audience become the key factor in the success of communication of the initiators of Berlibur. Various communities with different backgrounds are united in Komunitas Lintas KBB ‘All West Bandung Regency Communities’ to collect garbage to positively exemplify and unconsciously grow the community awareness of throwing garbage properly.

This article examines the specifics and perspectives of the information and communication universe theory for the analysis of the mass media. The aim is to explain the application of the concept of affordance in the context of media theory. The term was introduced by psychologist James J. Gibson to describe the specific inviting nature of objects and events, which, through affordances, suggest an algorithm for subsequent actions. From this point of view, the information and communication universe makes it possible to use it for some important purposes for the subjects of communication. However, the quality and options for implementing the possibilities of affordance depend on the goals, interests and skills of the subject who is trying to work with this affordance. To use an analogy, the same axe could invite some people to chop wood for an old lady, and others to use it as a weapon against her in order to seize her pension benefits. The thesis on the functional usefulness of the category information and communication universe for the analysis of processes in the media system is put forward. Traditional ideas about the specifics of the production and consumption of texts are corrected. The author analyzes the affordances of the Internet as a subsystem of the information and communication universe. It helps to explain the radical differences in the assessment of network digital technologies by representatives of different research schools. The article outlines further prospects for the identification and use of hidden affordances.
