AbstractExperimental studies of rectangular steel-concrete columns under centric compression with random eccentricity were conducted. The stress-strain state and the carrying capacity exhaustion have been assessed. The regression dependence is proposed to determine the maximum carrying capacity of such columns. The mathematical model takes into account the combined influence of the physical and geometric characteristics of the columns, such as their length, crosssectional area, casing thickness, prism strength of concrete, yield strength of steel, modulus of elasticity of both steel and concrete. The correspondence of the obtained model to the experimental data, as well as the significance of the regression parameters are confirmed by the Fisher and Student criteria.

Abstract The mathematical model of physicochemical iron removal from groundwater was developed. It consists of three interrelated compartments. The results of the experimental research provide information in support of the first two compartments of the mathematical model. The dependencies for the concentrations of the adsorbed ferrous iron and deposited hydroxide concentrations are obtained as a result of the exact solution of the system of the mass transfer equations for two forms of iron in relation to the inlet surface of the bed. An analysis of the experimental data of the dynamics of the deposit accumulation in a small bed sample was made, using a special application that allowed to select the values of the kinetic coefficients and other model parameters based on these dependencies. We evaluated the autocatalytic effect on the dynamics of iron ferrous and ferric forms. The verification of the mathematical model was carried out involving the experimental data obtained under laboratory and industrial conditions.

The work is devoted to the estimation of the intensity and energy of solar radiation at the earth's surface. The aim of the research is to develop a mathematical model of solar radiation, necessary for the design of devices for renewable energy, as well as in the design and construction of buildings and structures. The mathematical model of solar radiation is realized in the Python code. The program code allows you to calculate the intensity of solar radiation and solar insolation on any day of the year. The model is verified by the results of experimental studies of solar radiation in the Odessa region and by the results of our own experimental data.

RIGAKU. The work is devoted to the study of temperature stresses in a plate made of mediumcarbon alloy steel on the surface of which a heat source passes rectilinearly at a certain speed. The mathematical model is based on the Prandtl - Reis model, in which Hooke’s law is modified by the Duhamel - Neumann law. As a condition for plastic flow, the Mises condition is accepted, where the yield strength of the parabolic depends on the temperature. The residual stress fields are considered depending on the speed of the heat source passage. The resulting residual stresses are compared with the experimental stresses taken from the plate using the Rigaku residual stress analyzer.

The Department of Railwayand Road Transport, lift and care system of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, an energy-saving cooling system for diesel locomotives using phase transitions of the coolant has been developed. The proposed cooling system allows to maintain constant optimal temperatures of cooling objects at ambient temperatures ± 40 ºC and in any mode of operation of the diesel engine. For thermal calculation of the radiator section operating in the mode of the steam condenser, the mathematical model of process of heat transfer from steam to walls of a flat tube at condensation is developed that considers geometrical features of section of a tube. The adequacy of this mathematical model is verified by comparing the simulation results with the obtained experimental data. During the tests, the outlet water temperature, inlet and outlet air temperature, and air pressure in front of and behind the radiator were measured. Having the values of wall temperature, steam temperature and condensate, knowing the value of steam consumption and the experimental heat transfer coefficient, it becomes possible to verify the adequacy of the mathematical model by comparing the simulation results with the obtained experimental data. Schemes of bench equipment, test methods, experimental planning and basic calculation dependences required for testing serial radiator sections of a locomotive in the standard mode of operation and in the mode of steam condensers are presented.

The article deals with the development of a physical model of a car equipped with measuring, recording and remote control equipment for experimental study of car properties. A detailed description of the design of the physical model and of the electronic modules used is given, links to application libraries and the code of the first part of the program for remote control of the model are given. Atmega microcontroller on the Arduino Uno platform was used to manage the model and register the parameters. When moving the car on the memory card saved such parameters as speed, voltage on the motor, current on the motor, the angle of the steered wheel, acceleration along three coordinate axes are recorded. Use of more powerful microcontrollers will allow to expand the list of the registered parameters of movement of the car. It is possible to measure the forces acting on the elements of the car and other parameters. In the future, it is planned to develop a mathematical model of motion of the car and check its adequacy in conducting experimental studies on maneuverability on the physical model. In addition, it is possible to conduct studies of stability and consumption of electrical energy. The physical model allows to quickly change geometric dimensions and mass parameters. In the study of highway trains, this approach will allow to investigate the various layout schemes of highway trains in the short term. It is possible to make two-axle road trains and saddle towed trains, three-way hitched trains of different layout. The results obtained will allow us to improve not only the mathematical model, but also the experimental physical model, and move on to further study the properties of hybrid road trains with an active trailer link. This approach allows to reduce material and time costs when researching the properties of cars and road trains. Keywords: car, physical model, experiment, road trains, sensor, remote control, maneuverability, stability.

Abstract Subcooled boiling of water in a vertical pipe is numerically investigated. The mathematical model involves solution of transport equations for vapor and liquid phase separately. Turbulence model considers the turbulence production and dissipation by the motion of the bubbles. The radial and axial void fractions, temperature and velocity profiles in the pipe are calculated. The estimated results are compared to experimental data available in the literature. It is found that while present study satisfactorily agrees with experimental data in the literature, it improves the prediction at lower void fractions.

This paper describes the aerohydrodvnamics of processes in chambers of Gorlov's hydro-pneumatic power system. The mathematical model is developed to determine the main parameters of the processes: water and air velocities, air pressure in the chamber, the periods of time required to fill and empty the chambers and the output of energy during the cycle. The results obtained are in agreement with experimental data and model tests.

The use of the waste of the Bayer process, red mud, is due to its chemical and mineralogical composition that shows a material rich in oxides of iron, titanium and aluminum. Some studies conducted show that this waste can be applied as a source of alternative raw material for concentration and subsequent recovery of titanium compounds from an iron leaching process, which is present in higher amounts, about 30% by weight. To obtain a greater understanding about the leaching kinetics, the information of the kinetic data of this process is very important. In this context, the main objective of this work is the development of a mathematical model that is able to fit the experimental data (conversion / extraction iron, titanium and aluminum) of the leaching process by which is possible to obtain the main kinetic parameters such as the activation energy and the velocity of chemical reactions as well as the controlling step of the process. The development of the mathematical model was based on the model of core decreasing. The obtained model system of ordinary differential equations was able to fit the experimental data obtained from the leaching process, enabling the determination of the controlling step, the rate constants and the activation energies of the leaching process.

The manuscript proposes analytical methods for calculating fuel economy and traction-speed properties when modeling the movement of cargo-carrying vehicles on real routes, based on theoretical and experimental studies in a hot and dry climate, which allows for determining the efficiency of cargo-carrying vehicles objectively in terms of traction and speed, fuel and economic indicators. Using the statistical processing of experimental, theoretical research data, the authors calculate the coefficient X2, which allows for evaluating the adequacy of the mathematical model and experimental data. As an example, the manuscript provides for an assessment of fuel economy and traction and speed properties. The authors presented the results in graphs for the ease of evaluating the effect of external temperature on fuel consumption and the average speed of a road train. The authors’ methodology allows for determining the efficiency of cargo-carrying vehicles in a hot and dry climate.
