The objective of this study is to improve the development of affective domain among students with the introduction of the Open-Ended Laboratory (OEL). This enables students to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data in a groups. By conducting the laboratory exercises in a group, students shall develop the ability to function effectively as a leader, as well as an effective team member. The present paper describes the assessment of the affective domain in OEL of Structural and Material Laboratory course for Diploma Program. This study involved a group of second-year students of Diploma of Civil Engineering for March-July 2019 semester who enrolled in the Structural and Material Laboratory course. There were ten groups involvesd in this study with the total number of 233 students; 98 male and 135 female.The attainment of affective domains among students in the evaluation rubrics was investigated in discovering the effectiveness of the course assessment. Not many differences in affective domain attainment between genders are reported; females shows better performance in punctuality and discipline attributes as compared to males. The outcome of this study is to observe that the OEL approach creates positive impacts in developing student generic skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork. This attribute is expected by the industry, thus this also contributes to the overall students’ learning experience.

Background: -Video-based teaching, a distance learning tools is widely beingused in the present COVID-19 pandemic. Present study compares cognitive and affective domains learning outcomes between traditional and video-based physiology lecture. Methods and material: -A total of 25female students of Applied Medical College, Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz University, kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2019 were selected for the study. Physiology course consist of 45 credit hours in a fifteen-week semester. Students were evaluated by various methods for different levels of cognitive and affective domains between traditional method of endocrine physiology lecture session and video-based digestive physiology lecture session. Marks obtained by each student in all the assessment methods of cognitive and affective domains were calculated to get a total mean score and expressed in percentage and compared between the traditional and video-based physiology lecture. Results: -The total mean score for all the assessment methods of the cognitive domains in the digestive physiology lecture with video was 70% and endocrine lecture without video was 50%.The total mean score for affective domain in the digestive physiology lecture with video was 80% and endocrine lecture without video was 50%.Cognitive domain show no major difference between traditional endocrine physiology and video-based digestive physiology lecture, while student performance was good for affective domain in the lecture supported by video. Conclusion: -Video-based teaching helps the learner to achieve objectives of the different levels of affective domain compared to cognitive domain as well as compared to traditional lecture with no video. Diabetes patient education involves the cognitive, psycho motor, and affective domains. This paper focuses on the influence diabetes patient education has on how people feel about having diabetes and what it means to them. Our research suggests that diabetes patient education can contribute to more positive attitudes about diabetes and that diabetes educators should address the affective domain directly. Strategies for influencing the personal meaning of diabetes are presented and discussed.

The module is one of the teaching material media that is intact and systematic. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of teaching thematic modules based on the Qur'an and Hadith with the thematic package book on the 4th class religious character in SDN Janti 2 Tarik Sidoarjo. The type of research is experimental research with samples taken by class 4 A (experimental class with thematic learning module based on qur'an and hadith) and 4 B (control class with thematic package book). The data were obtained from the students' learning outcomes of the cognitive and affective aspects of my dream ideals by analyzing using SPSS program statistics. The result of cognitive domain using SPSS Independent Samples Test shows the significance of 0.000 <0,05 then Ho is rejected so it can be concluded that there is effectiveness of thematic teaching module based on qur'an and hadith with thematic package book to the result of fourth grade student learning at SDN Janti 2 Pull Sidoarjo. Likewise, the affective domain results show the percentage of 90% so it can be concluded to increase students' religious kararkter. Learning module has a high influence, seen from the cognitive domain learning results obtained by an average score of 80, while affective domain average value 4. For thematic package books have a lower effect because of the cognitive domain learning results obtained an average of 75,  while affective domains result in an average value of 3.

Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia, is one of the most visited websites on the Internet and it is a tool which students often use in their assignments, although they do not usually understand the basics underlying it. To overcome this limitation and promote the active learning approach in our courses, last year an educational innovation project was carried out that was aimed mainly at improving students skills in technical writing as well as their ability to review the technical contents of the Wikipedias. Additionally, it sought to explore new opportunities that these tools can offer both teachers and students. This paper describes the experiment carried out in a second-year undergraduate engineering course, the results of which show that introducing activities such as edition and revision within Wikipedia is an interesting way to enhance transversal competencies as well as others related to the main contents of the course.

Final year or Capstone Project is an important and final phase of the undergraduate curriculum in Computer Science Engineering program. Final year project is a course where all the skills learnt by the students in previous semesters are applied and evaluated. The important aspects in the delivery of course are i) developing a model to train the students to deliver quality project work and documentation, ii) effective evaluation of the student based on rubrics which are mapped to course outcomes iii) Map the feedback from stakeholders as per graduate attributes and measure performance. This paper discusses the approach followed for three academic years 2014-2017 on a batch of 250 students per year. Training sessions, evaluation rubrics, usage of project management tools, mapping of their performance with the outcomes of the course and program, feedback from the stakeholders like companies and students themselves gives a clear view of improvement of the performance of the students after the Final Year Project course in three years.

Twenty-eight undergraduate students in a health sciences program volunteered for an exercise in the history of examinations. They had completed a second-year course in anatomy and physiology in which they studied modern texts and took standard contemporary exams. For this historical “experiment,” students studied selected chapters from two 19th century physiology texts (by Foster M. A Textbook of Physiology, 1895; and Broussais FJV. A Treatise on Physiology Applied to Pathology, 1828). They then took a 1-h-long exam in which they answered two essay-type questions set by Thomas Henry Huxley for second-year medical students at the University of London in 1853 and 1857. These were selected from a question bank provided by Dr. P. Mazumdar (University of Toronto). A questionnaire probed their contrasting experiences. Many wrote thoughtful, reflective comments on the exercise, which not only gave them an insight into the difficulties faced by students in the past, but also proved to be a valuable learning experience (average score: 8.6 ± 1.6 SD).

This study tested the possibility that interactive lectures explicitly based on activating learners’ prior knowledge and driven by a series of logical questions might enhance the effectiveness of lectures. A class of 54 students doing the respiratory system course in the second year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program in my university was randomized to two groups to receive one of two types of lectures, “typical” lectures ( n = 28, 18 women and 10 men) or “constructivist” lectures ( n = 26, 19 women and 7 men), on the same topic: the regulation of respiration. Student pretest scores in the two groups were comparable ( P > 0.1). Students that received the constructivist lectures did much better in the posttest conducted immediately after the lectures (6.8 ± 3.4 for constructivist lectures vs. 4.2 ± 2.3 for typical lectures, means ± SD, P = 0.004). Although both types of lectures were well received, students that received the constructivist lectures appeared to have been more satisfied with their learning experience. However, on a posttest conducted 4 mo later, scores obtained by students in the two groups were not any different (6.9 ± 3 for constructivist lectures vs. 6.9 ± 3.7 for typical lectures, P = 0.94). This study adds to the increasing body of evidence that there is a case for the use of interactive lectures that make the construction of knowledge and understanding explicit, easy, and enjoyable to learners.

Fieldwork in the earth sciences is much valued by students, teachers and prospective employers alike, yet it has been reduced as a component of many undergraduate programmes in recent times. This study presents the results of an investigation of the undergraduate student perception of fieldwork, specifically in the context of the affective domain, and considers the effectiveness of field-based training as a pedagogical tool. Fieldwork provides the learner with a deep and immersive learning environment, where they are required to apply knowledge and theory acquired in class to the natural world, and to then analyse its validity. Strong spatial and temporal reasoning skills are routinely employed, and construction of maps is central to the learning experience, as it requires students to carefully observe their surroundings and make informed and reasoned decisions as to what is important and truly necessary to document. As part of this study students from a single higher education institution in Ireland were provided with anonymous questionnaires and polled for their opinions prior to and following a phase of residential fieldwork. The results clearly show an appreciation of not just the cognitive benefits, but also the transferable, technical and social skills developed and improved through their varied first-hand real world fieldwork experiences. These findings are much in keeping with those of previous studies. Overall, the student study group demonstrated enhanced affective domain responses to residential fieldwork: a recurring theme in the responses was recognition of the importance and value of sound observation and scientific rigor. These skills could subsequently be applied to many other areas of student learning, thus helping them to consolidate and integrate their knowledge base. The capacity of field training to transform the way students think was very evident – they became knowledge generators rather than just knowledge recipients.Received: 21 March 2018 Accepted: 08 May 2018 Published online: 31 May 2018

Introduction Previous studies have shown teaching public health in medical courses improves students’ analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. However, little research to date has shown if public health teaching is helpful to paramedic students. The aim of this study was to examine if having paramedic tutors teach public health had a positive effect on students’ learning and interest in public health. Methods 184 second-year paramedic students at an Australian university completed a printed survey and provided feedback about their learning experience. Students answered multiple choice and open-ended questions about whether their understanding of a public health subject was improved by having a paramedic tutor, and if having different tutors each week affected students’ learning. Results Most students reported their understanding of public health improved when the subject was taught by a paramedic tutor and when paramedic scenario examples were included in teaching. Nearly half felt having different tutors each week made learning difficult. The following themes emerged from student narratives: the relevance of public health to their career; an improved understanding of public health; a realisation about the importance of public health; difficulties presented by an inconsistent teaching style; and poor follow-up and conflicting advice. Conclusion Teaching public health from a paramedic perspective enabled students to understand the relevance of paramedic practice and the role paramedics play in the public health system. Having the same paramedic tutor teaching each week helped students understand the relationship between public health and paramedic practice.

The low quality of Indonesian education was also shown Data Research and Development (2003) in Panjaitan (2014) that of 146 052 elementary schools in Indonesia was only 8 schools who gained worldwide recognition in the category of The Primary Years Program (PYP). Of the 20,918 junior high schools in Indonesia, there are only 8 schools that received world recognition in the category of The Middle Years Program (MYP), and from 8,036 SMA, only 7 schools received world recognition under The Diploma Program (DP). The purpose of this research is to describe the role of Principals in the Integration Development of Culture and Moral character-based Noble Boarding School in Fresh Qulub MTs Miftahul Gondang Mojokerto, Based on the discussion can be summarized as follows: 1) The model of character education in adolescents aims to develop personality traits. Character education is done by acting speech directive (advice, orders, suggestions, etc.). Character education models in adolescents are integrated into various learning activities, school rules, and extracurricular activities or media posters attached to school walls. 2) The implementation of character education in MTs Miftahul Qulub Fresh Gondang Mojokerto maximum run boarding school because the curriculum is integrated with the school curriculum, in which the achievement of values ​​in schools is a prerequisite for the achievement of values ​​in schools. In addition, students in MTs Miftahul Qulub Fresh Gondang Mojokerto are students in boarding Miftahul Qulub Fresh Gondang Mojokerto, so the location is in one place, then facilitate monitoring and evaluation. 3) Implementation of character education in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Miftahul Qulub Tawar Gondang Mojokerto can be grouped into three domains namely: (l) affective. character education planting resulted in a change of attitude, through habituation on an ongoing basis both in schools and at schools to make students have certain characters such as steadfastness, good morals, self, and others; (2) cognitive linking character education into subjects give students an understanding of the values ​​of character and the importance of character in everyday life, so as to stimulate awareness of the students to practice the values ​​of characters in everyday life; And (3) psychomotor: through the learning experiences that students receive both in the pesantren and at school, they have the most embodied abilities into behavioral forms in everyday life. This practice is a continuation of the affective and cognitive spheres in the form of behavioral trends. Behavior is influenced by his learning experience through habituation that form the character inherent in him
