The article discusses the process of shaping the quality of freight transport implemented for the needs of construction projects in the context of supply strategies selected by enterprises. Enterprises that carry out construction investments face different types of problems. One of these problems is the functioning of the supply chain. Building supplies as part of this chain are a weak point due to both organizational and quality problems. The article presents an analysis of solutions used in the implementation of construction supplies in the city of Szczecin and an attempt was made to analyze the process of shaping the quality of these deliveries.

In Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC, Vietnam), there is now an urgent need for evaluating access to parks in an effort to ensure better planning within the context of rapid and increasingly privatized urbanization. In this article, we analyze the provision and accessibility to parks in HCMC. To achieve this, the information gathered was then integrated into the geographical information systems (GISs). Based on an Ascending Hierarchical Classification, we were able to identify five different types ranging in their intrinsic characteristics. The accessibility measurements calculated in the GISs show that communities are located an average of at least 879 meters away from parks, which is a relatively short distance. Children have a level of accessibility comparable to that of the overall population. Accessibility also seems to vary greatly throughout the City—populations residing in central districts (planned before 1996) enjoy better accessibility compared to those in peripheral neighborhoods (planned after 1996). Parks located in areas planned between 1996 and 2002 are the least accessible, followed by parks in areas planned after 2003. Our findings suggest possible approaches that could be used to help ensure the quality of parks and their spatial accessibility.

The main aim of this research is to determine the level and quality of life in terms of tourism by the Polish community living in the Greater Toronto Area, which includes the city of Toronto and four regions: Halton, Peel, York and Durham. The article will present its own model of objective factors (standard of living) and subjective factors (life quality) interacting with each other with a particular emphasis on geographic and tourism aspects. The main aim of this article is to show how the Polish community living in the Greater Toronto Area assesses the aspects related to tourism management in the city. The results of the study will be presented on the basis of a survey questionnaire conducted on 583 respondents. The respondents assessed, among other things, whether they were satisfied with the conditions of rest and relaxation in this city, public transport and the environmental quality. Respondents were also asked to evaluate the activity of Polish travel agencies operating in the Greater Toronto Area. The study will also address matters related to improving the quality of life and tourism development in the city. As indicated by the respondents, such activities as supporting existing tourist activities, expansion of bicycle paths or increasing sports and recreational infrastructure (i.e. construction projects of swimming pools, tennis courts) are the main needs in the city, which could contribute to the higher rated aspects of Toronto related to tourism. Data will be presented showing that in the Polish community in the last twelve months their household had enough income to cover the costs related to leisure, vacations, holidays or school breaks.

Air quality investigations have not been undertaken in Blace until now. Identifying the presence of different types of epiphytic lichens was performed in the summer 2012 in Blace (southeastern Serbia), and selected rural settlements around Blace, in order to establish the air quality of the area. The analysis of samples from described localities indicated the presence of 25 lichen taxa from 19 genera. Using the Index of Atmospheric Purity (IAP), it was found that there are 2 different air pollution zones in Blace: ?lichen desert? and ?transitional? or ?struggle zone?, which includes the periphery of the city. In these zones the air is moderately polluted. In the urban area of Blace there is no ?normal? zone, but one was detected in the surrounding rural areas.

Measuring and analyzing product labeling policies in supply chain processes is a largely unexplored topic. This paper analyzes the reasons why suppliers may pursue different product labeling policies in asymmetric information and how this affects buyers' product utility in the context of supply chain collaboration. In an asymmetric information environment, where suppliers know the quality of the goods they are selling and buyers are not able to distinguish between them, the quality buyers select to protect by a label depends on buyer's preferences for and production costs of different qualities. Suppliers with different distributions of tastes and/or different production functions will thus decide to label differently. When they collaborate, product utility effects will be different on the buyer as a whole and on different types of buyers within each buyer depending on whether buyers select to mutually recognize each other's labeling policy or to harmonize their policies. In particular, it will be the case that a buyer with weak preferences for high quality will oppose the introduction of an international, harmonized label as it is better off under a regime of mutual recognition. When suppliers only differ in their costs of producing quality instead, none of the suppliers or buyers will lose from a move towards supply chain collaboration under an international, harmonized label.

The agricultural production of national coffee faces controversy regarding the quality of roasted and ground coffee, being susceptible to quality loss because of oxygen and humidity exposure and high storage temperatures. In light of the importance of coffee to the Brazilian economy and consumption, a survey was made of the main brands of coffee sold in establishments in the city of São Luís, observing the presence or absence of the ABIC quality seal, the category (traditional, extra-strong, superior, gourmet), and the most common packaging types (pillow and vacuum-sealed bags). Then, two purity parameters established by ABIC – humidity and fixed mineral residue – were determined quantitatively in the eight representative samples. The analyses were performed following the procedures described by the Adolf Lutz Institute (2008). The survey revealed that the superior and gourmet categories of coffee are not easily found, while traditional and extra-strong coffee is very accessible, both in pillow and vacuum-sealed bags. The moisture level results showed two brands (A2 and A3) within the standards established by INMETRO for coffee in both pillow and vacuum-sealed bags. Of the samples of fixed mineral residue that were collected, brand A1 was observed to be in conformity with legislation, for coffee packaged in both pillow and vacuum-sealed bags, and brand A4 showed results for pillow bags within the given parameters. Statistical design was applied to verify the effect of packaging (pillow and vacuum-sealed bag) on moisture levels between different brands using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that despite displaying the ABIC seal attesting to the quality of the product, without fraud and free of impurities, 50% of the samples analyzed showed alterations in moisture level and 62.5% showed fixed mineral residue levels above the standards established by Brazilian legislature.

Rapid technological advancements force organizations to be more proactive and efficient it operations while previous studies revealed that most of the public sector projects go over in term of time and cost. Although extensive literature is available but only for the private sector, the investigations on the public sector are scarce. After plentiful literature, it has found that timely and sage supply chain is a major hurdle. Various strategies and approaches have been proposed to tackle the situation but after a thorough investigation, it was found that flexibility and collaboration are the topmost influencing factors in improving logistic efficiency. Thus the aim of this study is to empirically verify the positive impact of flexibility and collaboration on logistic efficiency. A questionnaire was adopted and distributed by random sampling to the strategic level of the construction projects in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. Multiple regressions were applied through SPSS. The finding of the study revealed that flexibility contributes 33%, collaboration contributes 35.5% in the logistic efficiency. It can be concluded that construction projects must be flexible and force stakeholders for collaboration. This study added in the frame of knowledge as new findings for public sector projects. Partnering is believed to be a viable approach to integrate the construction industry supply chain, improve client-constructor relationship, innovation, enhances levels of productivity and quality of construction project implementation, as well as creating conducive environment for innovations. Considering partnering is noted as an enabler for innovation, the perceptions of the consultant engineers towards partnering is crucial as they are at a pivotal stage of introducing innovation in construction projects. This paper aims to explore the perceptions of consultant engineers towards the role of organizational culture in partnering through the use of qualitative methods. Findings indicate that although the consultant engineers in Malaysia are positive towards partnering, there exists some hesitation in fully engaging in partnering ventures due to dissimilarities in organizational culture among firms involved.
