This study aims to: (1) describe the description of the prestige of urban recreation in Almira Bastari's Resign novel; (2) describe the description of the instant life culture of urban communities in Almira Bastari's Resign; (3) describe the description of the virtual lifestyle of urban communities in Almira Bastari's Resign; (4) describe the description of the individualist lifestyle of urban society in Almira Bastari's Resign novel. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. Based on the results of data analysis obtained; (1) the recreational prestige of urban community leaders in Almira Bastari's Resign includes education, employment, entertainment venues visited, and restaurants visited; (2) the instant life culture of urban communities depicted in Almira's Resign in general coming to fast food restaurants; (3) the individualist lifestyle of urban society in Almira Bastari's Resign as if it had never been separated from technology and communication in everyday life. This research is useful to discuss the use of information and communication technology in Arabic learning in Islamic University by using the literature study method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources in this research are research literature and theory books. This study aims to obtain written information related to the use of information and communication technology as a media for Arabic learning in Islamic University. In addition to answering questions about the media that can be used in Arabic learning as an effort by Islamic Universities to make Arabic easy to understand, to know, to practice and like students in their learning. The researcher concludes that with advances in information and communication technology, Arabic lecturers must be able to develop effective Arabic learning models in an Islamic university, and use appropriate methods to realize learning objectives and use media that are compatible with learning methods that are accordance with information and communication technology advancement. information. The development of technology and communication provide great potential to change the way students learn and obtain information. Various learning media that can be used for effective Arabic learning are computer, internet, television, and Arabic e-learning. Abstract The digitalization current is among one of the most relevant factors that currently drive transformation in the economy, with different degrees of impact across the main segments of the economy. As the topic of sustainability is now on the agenda of the biggest economic players, digitalization and the ability to leverage Information and Communication Technology opportunities have been recognized as drivers for innovation and change and a means to reach the sustainability goals. Reaching energy efficiency has been among the main objectives of both the public and the private sectors, leading to an increased interest in recognizing and capitalizing on energy efficiency opportunities. This in turn has an impact on the overall energy productivity, defined as the economic output per unit of energy. While this indicator has relevance at both micro and macro level, it is important to identify which makes some countries perform better than others. In the current economic context, studying how the performance of countries in the digital era correlates with the energy productivity can reveal further information on how it can be improved. The Networked Readiness Index is an indicator which assesses how well a country can capitalize on digital technologies and whether their usage of Information and Communication Technology has a relevant socio-economic impact. This paper analyzes which components that are assessed in a country’s Networked Readiness Index might influence energy productivity. Based on a panel data analysis performed on European countries, the study identifies that the individual usage of Information and Communication Technologies, the business and innovation environment and the usage of ICT by the business segment could have an impact on the energy productivity of a country.

The purpose of this paper was to examine the repertoire of ideas for curriculum development by utilizing information and communication technology in order to provide a breakthrough on the dynamics and complexity of curriculum development practices. Results of the study showed. First, the management of the curriculum development process that includes activities to share ideas, argument, contributedscientific papers, give feedback, provide feedback, the rationality of the policy decision makers, data processing, how the curriculum management, and results of develop ment can utilize information and communication technologies. Second, to take advantage of information technology and communication in curriculum development has some added value, such as easy in terms of faster information obtained, the cost in the sense that it does not require huge resources, broad reach in the sense that everyone can get involved, efficient and effective way to share, and provide a forum of freedom of speech which is at once loose the bonds of values or certain cultural norms. Third, the idea of developing a curriculum by utilizing information and communication technology as well as encouraging developers literate not only technology, but also able to understand, perceive, and apply power to the significance of the technology. Fourth, curriculum development by utilizing information and communication technology is considered a breakthrough way of working in this digital era AbstrakTujuan dari penulisan ini adalah ingin mengkaji khasanah gagasan pengembangan kurikulum dengan memanfaat kan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang diharapkan dapat memberi terobosan mengenai dinamika dan kompleksitas praktik (praxis) pengembangan kurikulum. Hasil kajian menunjukkan. The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a major trend in the contemporary world. Mishandling of social networking and social engineering could instigate and spread violence in decentralized regions. Social networking is widely used around the world in the process of election and for mobilizing people for social issues. ICT is also used for garnering support to a political party or to influence/misguide people in different aspects. In developing countries decentralized institutions are created to reduce inter-group conflict and to have efficient governance system. However, elections to the local bodies are accompanied by inter-group riots which are mostly mobilized by using ICT. The individual and elite level incentives attached to cultural identities can be an influence on group polarization, which may ultimately leads to the occurrence of election related riots. This article examines the relation between ICT and spread of ethnic riots. The empirical data with the help of interviews and qualitative tools is drawn from Goalpara district that witnessed inter-group riots on the day of election to the Panchayat Raj bodies in February 2013.

This chapter explains the community of practice (COP) concept from the perspective of three major Australian construction contractors. It also describes and provides an analysis of their COPs from the perspective of the individual, work group, and organisation. We provide maps of these COPs for each of the three contractors studied. The intention of using this approach is to offer readers insights into how these COPs can be developed and supported. The study we base this chapter upon focussed on groupware as an ICT initiative being rolled out using COPs as an integral part of the innovation diffusion strategy. Case study findings relating to these COPs reveal that they are not only supported by ICT, but also that ICT itself supports these COPs in a self-referential and synergistic way. The important contribution that this chapter makes to our understanding of the studied phenomenon was not only the ‘what’ or descriptive nature of these COPs, but also insights that help us understand the ‘how’ of the process, so that lessons learned may be absorbed and diffused more widely in the construction industry.

The aim of this special issue is to collect and put into dialogue theoretical, methodological, critical, and applied contributions dealing with the variety of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) uses in community development. In this introduction to the special issue, we first provide the readers with a quick overview of the field, conducted by analyzing the lexicon of titles and abstracts published in the past few years in information and communication technology for development journals. We will then briefly elaborate on the concept of “users” as a pivotal dimension that can shed light on the complex interlinkages between technological artifacts and sociocultural factors involved in ICT usage. The focus on user, in fact, highlights some relevant issues concerning the relation between ICT, people and communities. Drawing on these premises, the papers collected in the special issue will then be briefly described. These contributions come from a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, include the uptake of innovative technologies as well as top-down interventions, and focus on different regions of the world. The cross-fertilization and the range of disciplines included in this special issue result in a kaleidoscope in which different facets can be mixed, showing the individual, community, and societal aspects of community use of ICT for development.

The 21st century is referred to as the digital age, which places demands not only on the ability to work with information but also on being able to understand them as well as evaluate its relevance. The aim of this paper was to find out how ICT competences affect the individual domains of critical thinking in university students. The sample consisted of 624 university students. The data were collected using the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CTDI) and the Information and Communication Technology Competence (ICTC). The results of the correlation analyses revealed weak to medium relationships among all of the observed domains. The subsequent linear regression models showed that all of the domains of critical thinking were affected by ICT competences. In this context, the most interesting was the effect of ICT competences on open mindedness while the effect on the remaining factors of critical thinking was weaker.   Keywords:  critical thinking; CTDI; ICTC; information and communication technology; university students

ABSTRACTIn the present era, advances in technology and communication are growing rapidly, especially in the field of education, it is necessary to develop learning media based on information and communication technology. The development of instructional media must be in accordance with the purpose of learning, but it is also the learning media that can make the students are educated to be independent in accordance with the teacher's direction. This study aims to develop historical learning media as an online comic reading service. Currently researchers are using Historytoon to create a formative involving high school students in Yogyakarta. Based on the testing of the learning media, it can produce a decent historical learning media and can improve the understanding of the material of the National Movement of Indonesia class XI SMA. Keywords: Historytoon media, Android, History Learning
