On November 25-27, 2020, the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia held the scientific- practical conference "Storm Warnings about Hydrometeorological Hazards, Hydrological Conditions, Weather Forecasts: Current State, Existing Problems, and Ways to Solve Them" in videoconference mode. The conference also included the school-seminar for young scientists dedicated to the 90th anniversary since the foundation of Hydrometcentre of Russia, that is the leading research, methodological, and operational forecasting center in Russia in the field of hydrometeorological forecasting. The leading scientists of Hydrometcentre of Russia, the specialists from Administrations for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring and regional centers took part in the videoconference. The participants were able to dive into the main historical milestones of Hydrometcentre of the USSR and to get first-hand knowledge of modern problems and their solutions using numerical prediction technologies (from nowcasting to long-term forecasting), the state of methods and technologies for predicting hydrological processes, agrometeorological forecasting technologies, and air monitoring and forecasting. Special attention was paid to the system of forecasting and warning about hydrometeorological hazards. An active exchange of views took place between the participants. More than 200 participants were registered for the videoconference.
